  1. What Kornheiser said was that Irsay owes Peyton a lot, including a brand new stadium, yet he couldn't wait to crow about making the "right" choice.

The media asked Irsay, and he has not held back one iota when asked his opinion on about any topic.

  2. I was just coming to post the same from Lombardi.  My oh my.

Someone on the Denver boards opined that Elway must already know Peyton's decision or at least leaning.  If he's cleaning house, then I think he's ready to remake the franchise.  It was always a win at this moment strategy when Peyton was at the helm but they can't pull that off without a franchise QB.

One of the problems of bringing mass quantities of FA is that it's not a systemic, long-term building of a team.  Can't say I won't enjoy watching them implode should it happen  ;)

I'd be shocked if Peyton stays, or either Thomas. A rebuild could be in the making because they have a few more free agents too.

  3. Very interesting question.  My observation is that many of the most ardent Manning fans were not football fans before Manning.  They started out as bandwagon fans.  Manning drew many many fans to football, most of them in the Indy area.  My question is, will they continue to be NFL fans after Manning is retired?

Denver has had this with both Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow... and I don't know what to think of that to be honest with you. I feel for the true diehard Bronco fans even if only a little.

  4. This explains a lot..and I'm glad to hear it..

The worst case scenario would be if he was not hurt and threw the ball like that..

...He'll be back next year...he cant let that be his last game

He might not have a choice because if a new regime comes in to Denver, and decide to make wholesale changes he may be let go... and I believe his contract will make the split pretty simple. The other thing is that if Peyton goes those receivers will probably part ways with the team too because theirs are up.

  5. He's a competitor. I just can't see him retiring yet.

On a different note, when Brady retires I'm throwing a party and everyone is invited. BYOB of course.

All players are competitors, but what sets some guys apart are knowing when to walk away. Like Joe Montana who played 16 years... and walked away while he still could. Favre on the other would probably still come back if the right team offered him a shot, and I don't see Manning being like that. He also has a family too.

  6. When the chips are down that is when you have to play to the best of your ability, or you lose em all. The o-line for the first time in a while had the same guys for two games in a row, and the defense is on a roll. I'd imagine have all the players available suited up for practice this week also gave the team a good feeling coming into the game. I'm not sure about what happened to Trent since he was a healthy scratch... but with Herron's shoulder I'd have to say he will be suited up next week even if he only warms the bench for the starters.

  7. If you think Peyton doesn't care about numbers, then you're delusional. It's a very attainable record that would mean a lot to him.

I think at this point all he cares about is winning games, and trying to ride off into the sun set with another championship... and if he doesn't feel like he is cappable of making Denver a better team, or he feels like he would hold them back Peyton will walk away. He sure sounded like things were as up in the air as they have ever been after the game. I woldn't be surprised to see him retire, and the team will have a new coach so who know what direction they will want to go as well.

  8. I hope he doesn't retire..

I have a feeling that this could be the end of the line for good ol' number 18, but he will have a career as a coach/commentary guy lined up when he does hang up the cleats. A sad day... but it happens even to the best of us.  :thanks:

  9. Great game. I like Toler, but the guy gets called for a ton of holds at times... and if he would clean that up like tonight the combo of him and Davis would be one of the best one two punches in the league. I shudder when Gordy's name is called.
