  1. I don't see the east really improving that much, so we can assume they win it...again..which gives them the home game, and in truth they will probably be at least the 2 seed. They wont loose at home, so to me it comes down to them having to go on the road, which I don't believe will happen. So yeah...lets crown em, they are who we thought they were!

I hear you. But remember that Tyreek Hill choked his pregnant girlfriend. Dez Bryant also hit his mother a few years back. Not defending what Mixon did, just providing some perspective. It's also rumored that the girl called him the N-word and is seen in the video shoving him first. It's also reported that she had touched him prior to that too. Again, not defending just shedding light on the incident.

None of these guys were colts, so I was not in a direct position to support them, drafting one of them or Mixon puts me in a direct position to support them and I really could not do that

I understand how you feel, and agree it was an atrocious act.  No defending it.

All that said, should anyone get a second chance for something like that? If they toe the line in their community and life?  Or do you never forgive?

For me, hitting a woman is inexcusable, some man puts his hands on one of my daughters and you better believe he would never get a second chance in my eyes, and for me to have a different view because the woman was not my blood is hypocritical.

Because a lot of teams will take him completely off their draft boards. That's why he falls. It's not as if it's indicative of a larger issue like pot, PEDs, or drugs are. He lost his cool and made a very bad decision. Actual domestic violence is different as it is usually connected to a deeper problem. I don't think he's going to punch a girl in the face again at some point in his life. There were a lot of things in play that night that led up to the incident.

That's all well and good, but any one drafting him is going to get backlash from it. Period. I am certain I am not the only person who does not want to see this guy in a colts uniform.

  5. The thing I don't get about Mixon is if he's so great, and so apologetic and sorry why does he fall at all. To me it's like saying, well you punched a woman in the face, so that's a 2 round penalty. It just really bothers me on a personal level. Most of the arguments I've seen for drafting him all say he's a first round talent that may be had in the 2nd to 5th, that at some point his talent vs round out ways the fact that he saw punching a woman in the face and walking away as viable options. That is just seriously wrong to me. I truly hope we go another direction when it comes to running back.

Not sending hate towards but these are my thoughts:

Luck is a top 3 QB imo right now.

    When the defense doesn't allow 20+ points, he's 25-0.

Sending Luck to NY would not only kill us for the next few years, but we wouldn't get top 15 draft picks from NY because they'd be in the playoffs.

Saying the jets would automatically be in the playoffs with Luck is a reach in my opinion. They would have to beat the pats, 50/50 there, and that's generous, or get the wild card and that is a tough road also. I could honestly see them missing just as often as they make it, at least as long as Brady stays Brady.

I understand where you're going. I'm not going to try and change your mind on that, but don't you agree that Mixon has a ton of talent for a player projected to go so deep in the draft?

O yeah, he's uber talented. I just really don't want to be in a spot where my beliefs and the image I present to my daughters as what a man is supposed to be is in conflict for my love of a game, because honestly I think I would have to walk away from a team I really love.

From what I've seen and heard, Mixon is no longer an off-field concern. His public apology, which I have watched several times to be sure, shows that he is 100% sincere and knows how wrong it is. Now if you have other reasons as to why we shouldn't take him, please let me know. But with his Draft Profile on NFL.com comparing him to Le'Veon Bell (Which I can easily see in film), we just cannot pass on this guy if he falls to the 4th round. Please let me know other concerns though, so I can investigate thoroughly.

My concern is finding myself in a situation where I might have to root for a man who at one time thought  an acceptable course of action was to punch a woman in the face. It's not like he didn't know it was wrong when he did it. So saying he is 100% sincere and knows its wrong doesn't change my feelings on him. As a father, brother, and son I just hope that the team I root for doesn't consider his talent to much to pass on. Others may feel differently, that fine, I'm not saying it's not. Just stating my hope that the colts do not draft him.

Why not? Grigson isn't here anymore and Ballard was a big part of drafting Marcus Peters and Tyreek Hill. He even went over to Peters house and talked to his family. I don't think there's any doubt we'd draft Mixon if his character concerns are cleared up now.

That's all well and good, I just think the character issue runs deeper than Grigson and don't believe he'd be what they always consider a "horseshoe" guy. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see it happening.

    Salary Cap Casualty: D’Qwell

Outside FAs: Dontari Poe, NT, Chiefs; Sean Spence, ILB, Titans; Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Bengals; Knile Davis, RB, Chiefs; Britton Colquitt, P, Browns

Inside FAs Re-signed: Walden, Doyle, Harrison, Butler, Ayers (conflicting info as to whether he’s already under contract), Swoope (RFA), Adams, Bray

Inside FAs Allowed to Walk: Thornton, Kerr, Turbin, Cole, Todman

Beaten Out in TC: Jones, Reitz, Ferguson

    Draft:

    1) Charles Harris, OLB, Missouri.  I’m projecting a rise that eliminates the possibility of trading down and still getting him.  He’s got a great first step, good closing speed, excellent athleticism, and a killer instinct.  Needs to develop more moves (he’s now just got speed and a good spin move).  But, he’s a great kid and a hard worker – a coach’s dream.  Hard to believe I'm one of the only ones on this forum on his jock right now.

    2) Taylor Moton, OL, Western Michigan.  I’m a fan of last year’s draft picks, and I feel the line just needs a little more time to develop.  However, I expect the new GM to want to shore it up more and build it into more of an elite line.  Moton could be an All Pro RG within a couple of years IMO, and it would push Haeg back into an all-important 6th  OL/4-position back-up role.

    3) Tyus Bowser, LB, Houston.  Bowser was my favorite sleeper LB (5th or 6th round) earlier in the draft season after I watched him play in two games.  What caught my eye was how good he looked in coverage and his incredible burst around the edge.  I thought he could play any one of our LB spots, and his best fit could be at ILB.  Then, the man looked great at SB practices and Zurlein says he won’t make it out of the 3rd.  Ballard’s comments about LBs who can cover and rush the passer makes me think he’d like this guy a lot.  His versatility makes him a great fit for a team that needs all-round improvement all over the LB corps.  I’d start him out as an ILB and eventually he could replace Walden at SAM.

    4) Tenzel Smart, DL, Tulane.  Ballard will want to make his mark on the DL, and he has already talked about getting after the passer.  This speaks well for T.Y. McGill’s stock, and Smart is another attempt to improve the rush from this level of the D.  If Langford and Anderson have their explosion back after their injuries, there could be a lot of platooning/rotation on this line.

4C) John Johnson, S, Boston College.  We interviewed him.  I don’t know what kind of safety Ballard favors, but Johnson is a versatile guy.  He even took CB reps at the SB.  Bringing back two old guys at safety (Butler and Adams), we need a legitimate young successor.

    5) Elijah McGuire, RB, Louisiana LaFayette.  In a great RB year, McGuire offers great value as a receiver and all-round runner.  High character too.  A good sleeper feature back. Knowing I could probably get McGuire here is what kept me from drafting a RB earlier.

    6) Keionta Davis, OLB, Tennessee Chattanooga.  The system fit is the question (at 270 lbs), but I’m taking a chance in the 6th round with a potential 3rd string rush LB.  He should be a good designated pass-rusher to develop.

    Top UCFAs: Chris Carson, RB, Oklahoma St.; Nate Theaker, OL, Wayne St.; B.J. Singleton, DL, Houston; Kevin Davis, ILB, Colorado St.; Mitch Leidner, QB, Minnesota;

I don't agree that a RB would make as much of an impact for us as a pass rusher. I also think skill positions value is much lower than pass rushers/cover corners. But I just want a solid pick too, blue chip player.

I just think the argument would have more merit if the defense wasn't a god awful dumpster fire, as it is, to me the debate of taking #1/2 RB vs #3/4 pass rusher is a wash.

  12. 2 hours ago, Majin Vegeta said:

I don't agree with the "great offense will mask our terrible defense" argument. I'd rather just upgrade the depleted defense.

I don't think drafting 1 RB is going stop us from upgrading our defense. The majority of the picks should be defense, most every one agrees on that...I think the argument is over what to do with that first pick, and an argument can be made that a stud running back can have just as much impact on the team as a stud pass rusher. You take stud pass rusher and double him and scheme him and do all you can to take him out of play and your left to deal with what? A bunch of rookies and bottom tear players as the defense stands now. You take stud running back and throw 8 in box and scheme to get him out of the plan and your left dealing with an extremely potent offense..still. Myself, I just want a solid pick, a player who performs up to the demands of a number one pick, but I can see how the argument can go both ways.

With out the paid package you don't get any trade options, so sometimes your kinda stuck with what you got. This time I tried a little something different and went secondary heavy just to see how it would shake out. I thought it came out pretty decent.

So let's look at our 2014 and 2015 draft and you tell me if he's a building block or a JAG. I accept incomplete as well. For those that don't know, JAG means just another guy.

    Mewhort

    Moncrief

    Dorsett

    Anderson

    Geathers

    Parry

    Good

    Include any I missed

How long as Parry been in the league, 2 years, I don't know man...that's an awful short time to decide he's completely expendable..especially when he has consistently shown an ability over every other person on the list....Availability. I think that gets highly over looked.

  15. 4 minutes ago, Jdubu said:

Party is a guy who can take some snaps in certain rotations but in no way is he the Doyle of the defense. Doyle catches everything in his area and "does his job" at a high clip. Parry does not perform to that level. He does an average job with a flash of a very good play once or twice a game. Parry is backup material on this team. Sorry.

I'm not saying he should be a starter. I just don't understand why he never gets counted in the young players we should keep group. Just because he isn't a starter doesn't mean you should trash him. I mean he was what, a 5th found pick? and he's played in every game, and played pretty well considering his size and natural ability. You have to have backups in the NFL, they are a key component of your team, and Parry is a very solid player, who plays to the best of his abilities and should be considered a asset to the team in my opinion.

After the oline the colts have had for the last 10 years it also blows my mind.

I don't want a RB in the first, this not me saying I do. But as far as why some people do, I can understand it. First the line play was better last year, especially in the run game. Late in the year I would see some of those holes open up and wish we had a young elusive back to explode out of them. In the passing game, if we had a back that could catch it at the LOS and hurt teams, I think that would really help our receivers down field. Also as the team stands now, we have to win games with Luck, if he has a bad day, we lose. In my opinion only two things could change that, a defense and a running back. I do not believe our defense is close enough that within one draft they will be able to win some games for us, but I think a running back could. With that all being said, I would still draft defense heavy and not look at a running back until maybe the 4th, but I can at least understand why some would say if Cook or Forneutte are available you have to draft them.

I don't understand why Parry never gets any love. I know he is not a dominant NT but dude has not missed a game, seems to give the best he has, even raising above his own abilities at times and is uber young. To me he's the Jack Doyle of the defense. Just a good hard nosed lunch box kind of guy...you really can't have enough of those guys on your team.

Well, he has been here for four years. And for the most part I have not been crazy about front office decisions or direction.

Hard to say how much of that falls solely on Ryan Grigson or in part on Grigson/Raye/Pagano and so on and so forth.

So i think that half of us would like a clean break. Start with new faces.

I think he was in charge of finding UDF's though wasn't he? If so he did a pretty good job of that in my opinion.

  19. Yeah, Malik in the third was pretty unrealistic, but hey if they're going to give it to me I'll take that all day long. As far as Thomas goes i think he's going to produce right away in what ever role he's given, and you have to admit we have had great luck with Stanford guys. Even Colby, while not great was very dependable and healthy. I mean you've got to be on the field to matter, and for whatever reason all these Stanford guys we've drafted have been pretty solid.

  20. So I did this on fan speak and I'm pretty pleased with it, what do you think?
