  1. Tell me exactly how I am wrong about anything I said?

You're asuming that no other team was interested in Edgerin.

James signed a seven-year, $49 million rookie contract.

Explain how that was going to work? We were having enough trouble getting Marshall to fit under the cap, hence why he was traded out. Imagine paying both these guys, as well as expecting Faulk to share carries with a stud RB?

  2. Oh and as far as Edgerrin, well he wasn't even thought of as a top 10 pick. We could have traded our #4 to the Saints for all of their picks and still landed Edgerrin. How would that have been having Edgerrin and Faulk? It's not like we only had to settle for one.

You have a better imagination than Sponge Bob Squarepants. You are just being silly at this point.

  3. I would say giving him that huge contract might have been a mistake. He should have been given a 3 year deal, not a 5 year one, especially when he hasn't proven he can stay healthy for a full season. I would have loved if the Colts kept him, but it's unfortunate that it didn't work out that way.

    From Rotoworld:

I'm sure we offered something like that, a low-guaranteed, high-incentives contract, but I guess he wanted a change of scenery.

I admit, if we could've done something with him on the low-end, that would have been prudent. Considering his freakish talent, a modest contract would've been in order. Not to mention that he has gone to one of our playoff nemeses.

  4. Because Polian deserves to be criticized for trading him. People who are blinded by Polian’s great accomplishments will give him a pass on this one, but I never will. It was a terrible decision to trade Faulk.

Polian stole this day from Colts fans whether you want to believe that or not. It's just a fact.

I too was not happy about the trade. However, in hindsight we made off pretty well with his replacement. Congrats to Faulk on his big day.

  5. If he doesn't start the first pre-season game, does that mean his consecutive starts streak is over? Or does that only take into consideration regular season and playoff games? I have a feeling it doesn't include pre-season games, but I'm not 100% sure

Consecutive starts only applies to reg season.

  6. bob was and is still the best we will see this year a big polian mistake sd in playoffs hope they dont knock us out as they always do we should not have helped them

How can you seriously describe that as a mistake? If you ask me, we held onto him 1 year too long as it was.

Even if Bob makes DPotY and plays all 16 games, it still wasn't a mistake.

  7. Yep! The fact that he's throwing in camp, with decent velocity, is very encouraging. Remember the infamous 'bursa sac summer'? He wasn't even seen in camp if I remember correctly. And I don't think he played in any preseason games.

Personally, I'd rather not have him back in a preseason game until the O-line gels. Especially if we have a rookie (or Link) at LT, and possibly a rook at G.

Absolutely not! If he can play in preseason, he needs to. As you mentioned the bursa sac issue and him sitting out the pre, it took him weeks to get up to speed. Manning operating under center is the only way that the O-line will gel.

  8. I heard Peyton could possibly miss the first game or more due to his surgery rehab.. Is this true? Would he end his consecutive starts streak?.. I was hoping he'd be in training camp soon and maybe he would be ready by the Packers/Colts preseason game(3rd pre-game) here Aug 26th.. Has anyone got the latest news on this?

The last time Manning had surgery in the off season, he stumbled out of the gate. If I remember correctly, he didn't play much or at all in that pre-season and it took weeks for him to get up to speed in the regular season. If he's absent for the week 3 pre-season game, it's not going to bode well for us. Any news from the FO is going to have to be taken with a grain of salt for sure.

  9. thank you officer ruksak, i know i am newand trying to learn the ropes but it seems if someone says something you dont agree with it is

wrong. why dont you start every topic and all can jut waddle behind you. we all are colt fans here, but that does'nt mean cant have some different

opinions. go colts and thanks for some of the signings.

I have over 150 posts and I haven't started a new thread yet. Not because I am shy to do so, because the topics I wish to discuss are already ongoing. I do what the rules stipulate should be done, and that is, I discuss the topic in the existing thread instead of burdening the mods and the members by creating redundant threads.

You see, when we have 3 Nevis threads, all of which are the same, the mods can either allow the clutter to lay about or they have to take the time to merge the threads. It is time consuming for them. As well, it is time consuming for the members to swim through the river or redundant threads.

Yes, everyone should have a voice. But when we are essentially talking over each other, then what is the point? Frankly, I think its incredibly rude for a new member to sign up, go directly to the 'New Post' tab and create a post without even looking around first. Many of these folks don't even come back afterward, they essentially let their dog poop in our yard and run off.

It is in the rules, Mr Shoe. I am only asking that we come together to help clean up the site. As the regular season kicks off, we are going to see a mass influx of this sort of thing and you will see what I mean. It is not unusual for there to be 5-6 threads on the front page that are all about the same topic, many even having the exact same thread title.

  10. I could write a minimum 3 page dissertation on the sheer awesomeness of that sentence. lol I might even have to add it to my signature, with your permission. :td:

    lol...but of course, sir.

I really wasn't trying to hurt the OP's feelings but....man these redundant, regurgitated thread topics are pushing good threads off the page. We have currently 3 Drake Nevis threads and 2 Kelvin Hayden threads on the first page alone. I wish the mods would hear the cries of the people and do something proactive about it. By closing, instead of merging, redundant threads to send a clear warning about the need to search for topics before opening a new thread. In many cases, one needs not actually use the search feature to discover the topic they wish to discuss is already up and going, often, a quick visual search of the front page will reveal the needlessness of redundant threads.

Many of the regular members here are sick of it. We have new folks popping in here by the dozens and lazily opening threads, as if it comforts their ego to to "hear themselves talking", so to speak. Please mods, do something about this before the season starts and quell the tidal wave of redundant lunacy. It seems nothing short of vandalism to me.

  11. I suggested that idea to Bill Polian at lunch today and he loved it. He's heading to Sea World tomorrow to begin purchasing the sharks, and Irsay is already putting in orders for lasers....

The hard part is getting the lasers attached to their heads. You see, sharks often bite people when they attempt to attach anything to their heads, as sharks have thousands of sensory organs located within their nose and head area. Often when attempting to attach the laser to the shark, it becomes highly agitated and enters into a predatory response, thusly snapping its jaws firmly upon your hand and the expensive laser equipment. Maybe we should just go with natelombardi's idea and sign Braylon Edwards so we can win the SB every year?

  12. ima colts fan and its so true we could of easily signed a braylon edwards or a nnamdi and we would be in the super bowl every year this in house building is great for the reg season we have won 1 sb with the greatest qb ever....just what im thinking....go get moss or t.o and go get taylor mays

    laugh out loud?

Better yet, I think we should hire sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their heads and we would win the pro bowl every Tuesday.

  13. He was a shell of him former self by that point and he probably just wasn't as quick as he thought he was. He thought he could out run the guy and he no longer could. Whatever that injury was he suffered, against the Pats I think? it ended his career. He was fine that season up until that injury then never recovered.

    You got it.

The saddest thing about Marvin's exit was, it was as if he disappeared off the face of planet without ceremony. This guy helped Manning become the QB stat king and he just poofed into the wind like dust.

  14. From the 18to88 blog, regarding cap space ...

"Yesterday Profootballtalk.com reported on the cap situation for all teams. The number PFT gave for the Colts was $7.9 million. However, based on previous reporting by PFT, that number likely includes 'flexible money'. Each team can 'borrow' up to $3 million from the 2012 cap and apply it to 2011. Obviously, it would be best to avoid doing so if at all possible. That means the Colts actual number is probably closer to $4.9 million. That's not nearly enough to do any major renegotiation of Mathis or Wayne's deals, as some have suggested.

The Colts may not be finished signing players, but they don't have the cap room to make any major moves. Of course, at this stage of the game, there aren't any major players to move on anyway."

Wouldn't it be clearly reported if we borrowed against next years cap? Maybe we stand at $10.9 if we did so?

And is this just because of the lockout, or is this a new thing that can be done every year with certain restrictions?

  15. GREAT point! Marvin's amazing awareness and IQ shades his YAC numbers dramatically. He knew how to avoid collision and prolong his career. He knew all we needed was a first down, and not a forced fumble because he tried to get an extra yard or two. He knew his ability, and played within it. He wasn't going to take an uncessary hit to pad his YAC and get a yard or two that is unnecessary because we already have the first down!

Saying Garcon is better than anything Marvin brought to the table is laughable at this point. Garcon has 10 career touchdowns in 3 years. Marvin Harrison had 128 in about a decade as a starter.

Sadly, one of my last memories of Harrison was watching him fumble away a playoff game trying to get some YAC. He was cerebral, blazing fast but not physical in any manner whatsoever.

That being said .....Harrison > Garçon on any given Sunday, period.
