Fail New York Knicks GIF by Indiana Pacers- I called it, we have the better team. Haters can go suck an egg, nobody gave us a chance today and we not only won but we destroyed the Knicks. Now what @Mylesis that good enough. Yeah, I am calling you out too. Once the media and the NY fans were talking crap, they made it personal with me after Game 5, I sent an e-mail to our FO and said everyone is picking against us including some of our fanbase. Let's lay the hammer down, block out their celebrity-based crowd is what I sent them, they made it personal, at that point they stepped in doo doo.

Only quoting you to eat crow. I was one of the fans who doubted the Pacers would win game 7. Was more to do with being super impressed with how the Knicks played at home. Talk about a tough team.  I’m super happy with this series win bc we beat a very scrappy NY team that played great this series as well.

Saw Porzingis is out at least the first two games of ECF. Al Harrington is playing well in relief but is 37 so hopefully we can wear him down. Be ready for the media hate again. Boston is another darling. Let’s hope the Pacers go out and win in 5-6 games and prove all the naysayers wrong.

  2. I take the saying Ballard type player with a grain of salt. I personally feel he has been very good at listening to his coaches and giving them what they want. We have a different head coach and DC now so I believe the type of player drafted will change. Some things like character evaluation and the like will remain the same. I’ve always appreciated how Ballard will do this for the coaches. Probably one of several reasons why he is still here.

As for the players drafted, positional flexibility will always have value in this league. Not so much for starters but definitely for players trying to carve themselves out a spot on the roster. If they can play multiple positions and special teams, they already have a leg up over other players battling for a backup spot. Plus, it gives the coaches an extra wrinkle to their playbooks if they choose to employ it on game day.

Is the forum experiencing a Prozac shortage or something?

I find it funny what some people key in on and respond. Like that’s what you think needs added to conversation. We are all probably guilty of it at some time or another.

Several picking less than 9. That tells me 2 things, those voters don't have faith in AR being any good, and Shane not being a good coach. Shane won 9 games last season with average QB play (Minshew wasn't bad at all but wasn't great either) and poor Secondary play, could have been 10 and the Division Title had we sealed the deal vs Houston. The over/under for the Colts is 8.5 on the Caesars books. I put $200 on the Colts and took the over. The absolute worse we will do is go 9-8. Flacco could even win us some games if AR is out. Shane is too good of coach to go below .500. We could easily win our last 5 games, look at the schedule, worse will be 4 out of 5.

I have faith that AR will be good for a rookie. I think Shane is a great coach and definitely won’t be the problem. It’s just a tall order to win double digit games with an inexperienced QB coming off missing nearly the entire year and a young weak secondary. It’s totally possible bc I see 7-11 wins. We will need a lot to go right for double digit wins. Even if we only win 7-8 games, I would still find that really good and encouraging for our young QB. Any more will be over achieving and this roster seems capable.

  5. If the roster has good health, Steichen’s offense should really start to open up mid season. I think it will still take a bit of time for AR to get comfortable. I fully expect this staff to put the offense in situations they can excel and add as they go along. Should be a fun season.

Sorry for the snark.  It was unnecessary.  I just get a bit weary of the names Stroud, Caleb Williams, and all.

Not a problem. I should not have been snarky back either. We are all in on Richardson and should be a lot of fun competing these next few years. Colts have a sneaky great roster and should start getting the recognition as a true contender very soon!!  Go Colts

Refresh my memory - was Stroud available at pick 4?

Of course he wasn’t. Why my next sentence said afterwards I was hoping Colts would trade back and get Levis and more draft capital.

    But you knew that. Thanks

I don’t recall saying 2-3 years, at least not in this exchange.   I know I’ve said it in the past, but that was around a year ago.

I didn’t like AR as a prospect in Jan thru April of 23.   Hated him.   But once the Colts made the pick and I heard what Ballard, Steichen, Dodds and Brown had to say, I was sold.

So I root hard for AR.  Great kid!  And I agree with you, injuries are the great unknown.   Even in this thread, I’ve shared that I think AR leads the Colts to 9-8 this year.   So I’m not down on AR or the Colts.   I think we’ll be very competitive.  I’m optimistic.

I agree with about everything you say here.  Not a fan of the Richardson pick. I wanted Stroud. I thought he was clearly the best QB out of the four that year. Afterwards I was hoping Colts would trade back and get Levis and more draft capital.

Since we drafted Richardson, I have watched a lot of analysis on him. I see why they love him as a prospect. His upside is enormous and he has the ability be a matchup nightmare. I also think he is a genuinely good man. While I have my strong doubts he will reach his potential, it won’t be bc of a lack of effort.

I’m rooting for AR. I think he deserves success and I hope he earns it. I’m all in on the kid and it looks like the Colts are too. They are trying hard to put a consistent team with depth around him to let him do what he does best. Go make plays and elevate the team around him

To me, it depends why and which games he misses.  If he misses 4 because of various injuries and we go 1-3 in those games, it is cause for concern.

I see that. If he misses for a bunch of little things of course it’s cause for concerned. If he gets leveled or his knee is twisted up in a pile…some sort of injury that would make anyone miss time, it will be part of playing football.  Players get injured every year. It’s a violent game.

“If Richardson misses more than 2 games his future will still be uncertain.”  ????

When did 2 become the magic number.   Or when did playing 14 games not become enough?

I find missing 2-4 games in a year acceptable for most nfl players. Some years will be better than others.  One thing is for certain, our QB will be hit really hard nearly every game. I don’t think he has to play 15 games minimum but I hope he plays all of them. If he gets injured, it all depends on how to determine if we should be worried.

I don’t think they are as bad as people think. The rams game was an outlier and brought his average down yet he still came back in that game. He would have been over 60% without that game.

I really don’t see many people say it’s bad. Just unproven, which I find fair. This year will tell us everything we need to know about this teams direction.

  12. ARs and the Colts success has and will always be decided on the ability to throw the football. I’m positive the staff has a plan to develop ARs passing skills and find a great blend with his athleticism to create plays. Only one way to find out if the plan is a good one and that’s to wait and see what happens. The offense has the OL and weapons to be extremely dangerous so it should be a lot of fun.

If they want views, they have to make it more exciting.

They will have to do something. I think it’s trending in the direction they want but it depends on lasting star power.  I think this draft class popularity will all fizzle out in a couple years like it did for the other big stars from college. Sometimes sports leagues just don’t work out. Just like all the secondary football leagues throughout the year:  Arena football, XFL, NFL Europe etc… WNBA has been propped up from the beginning and the only reason it hasn’t been shutdown is bc of “outrage” by people who probably don’t even watch it.

She is bigtime, Peyton gave her all of his airport connections (captains) on what flights to take, he also gave her his contacts for St. Elmo to get free meals.

She definitely is a huge draw right now. I’m interested to see if it stays that way.  Women’s college basketball is more popular than the WNBA in my eyes. I hope she helps the league take the next step. It’s one heck of a task.

  15. I just watched the interaction and wouldn’t think that is suspension worthy. I don’t care that he was but it seemed more like a compliment than anything. I guess I don’t understand the “outrage” but maybe just talk to him and say it was unprofessional.  Oh well, time off is always good!!

  16. I will be honest. The third string QB spot really is of little concern only bc it should be used to groom the future backup in hopes to free up salary cap space. However, if we are going to contend with a running type QB, I believe we will always be spending money on a good backup. Would be great to get a guy on a rookie contract capable of filling the position but typically those guys need 3-5yrs of “grooming” to be nfl ready. So, I guess I consider #3 Qb no man’s land and just throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks. Whoever they choose has little to no bearing on this team. If we get down to this guy we are most likely dead in the water.

I know this. I'm only saying this because it was one of many factors why our secondary stunk last year.

Maybe. Rodgers was just a part time starter anyways. He wasn’t bad for the Colts but wasn’t great either. He would have played with all the injuries but ultimately I feel the Colts viewed him as a decent backup. My theory is there were more issues with him than we knew and why he wasn’t playing as much in 2022 and was cut. It cost the colts nothing to keep him but they moved on quickly.  Saying he got himself suspended a year, I wouldn’t be surprised if their was behavior or attitude issues. Again, just a theory.

I believe Cross was NOT drafted to play free.  I believe he was drafted to play the strong side.

Now some safeties have been drafted to play both positions.  Cross could be one like that.  Try to play both.   But as I shared with another poster, Cross came out a year early from college so he has less experience than a normal draft pick.  His learning curve should be expected to be slower.   I think we will see Cross play more and more as the season progresses.  I still expect Blackmon to start at the strong side.

Everything you said makes sense. I believe Cross is meant to play strong safety.  I do find it a bit telling Blackmon was resigned. Hopefully Cross can show he is making the next step and ready to compete for a starting spot. Colts do have a 3rd and 6th invested in him. Would be nice if that pays off but sometimes players don’t pan out. Still haven’t seen enough to say he is good or not. Big year for Cross and I hope he capitalizes.
