  1. I think our Colts are playing extremely hungry. Especially on the defensive side. I think the media is blaming Manning for us beating them, but our D-backs were getting pressure. Our D-line made the Broncos pass. We took away every facet of offense that the Broncos are comfortable with. We abused their receivers at the line. Peyton has always been about timing (especially now with diminished arm strength), and that has been well over looked. If we come out ticked off, looking to hit Brady, Gronk, and anyone else wearing that uniform, we win.

  2. I prefer to not take the ball out of Andrew Luck's hands. If we want to run a few trick plays, I'm all for it, but I'd much rather play them at what we do best, and that's letting Andrew throw the ball around. If he's not under center, the Pats would sell out to stop the run and I'm not sure that would be good with our o-line

  3. you are completely wrong. If we win(we won't) no way we beat the pats or any NFC team

Well you are(were) completely wrong, I'll just continue on with my optimism. We can beat any team on any given Sunday. This team is capable.

  4. I wear my Luck jersey. Now, when we play the Broncos, I wear my Luck over my old Manning jersey (I forgot that week one this year). In addition, I wear my most tattered pair of jeans, batman boxers, colts slippers, and my oldest nastiest hat.

After reading that, I wonder how I have a girlfriend.

  5. As much hell as Fleener catches on these boards, you'd think he was terrible. Comparing him to Dwayne Allen is apples and oranges to me. They play the same position by name only. Fleener wasn't drafted for his blocking. He was drafted to stretch defenses and he is living up to it. Dwayne Allen has been an ace at what he was drafted for: being a security blanket for Luck and blocking.

  6. I think a lot of the problem with Nicks stems from Andrew Lucks reliance on other weapons. T.Y. is a game breaker. You get him the ball as much as possible. Fleener has been very solid this year. Reggie hasn't been the same, but it seems like we are still force feeding him the ball. Add in Dwayne Allen, Amhad Bradshaw, and Moncreif, and you can see how he gets lost in the shuffle. Perhaps he shows out in the playoffs.

  7. I think the Bengals looked really good on Monday night. Tonight, was kind of meh. The AFC as a whole has been inconsistent. Earlier in the year, we looked like the team to beat, Brady looked like he was on his way out, and Denver was Denver. Now, it's just weird. I think we can beat the Bengals, but we have to contain Jeremy Hill, rattle Andy Dalton, and hit A.J. Green. We can't turn the ball over. We can't start slow. We can't be down 14-0 before we play with urgency. If our offense finds their stride again, and the defense plays like they did against the Ravens and Bengals earlier in the year, we could absolutely win the Lamar Hunt trophy and potentially the Lombardi!

  8. Seems like our forum tends to preoccupy ourselves with mediocre players (released due to performance by multiple teams), and boost them into a wildly overrated status.

Shipley is one...as was Lawrence Guy, Drake Nevis, and others...

I don't believe I have boosted Shipley. I think as of right now, he gives us a better chance to win on Sundays than Harrison. I'm not saying he is, by any means, the center for the next 10 years. He is servicible for now, and as such, is an upgrade over Harrison.

  9. I just cannot get behind the idea that Shipley is the answer.  I just don't believe it is as evident as you suggest.

I think in the games that he has played, the offense has flowed better. At the very least, he didn't have false starts or any bad snaps if my recollection is accurate. I'm not saying he is the longterm solution, but I believe he would give us a better chance this season. As a fan, I felt that we ran the ball well, and that pass protection is better with Shipley than with Harrison

  10. Good article. They do talk about the Colts:

"The Colts approach the playoffs with the inexperienced and exploitable Harrison protecting Andrew Luck and trying to create space for the team's glitchy running game. Harrison may be improving, but he will be hard-pressed to improve quickly enough to be an asset in a matchup against the conference superpowers.

Perhaps if the Colts had invested more at the center position—if not a Frederick, then a midround pick like Stork or a former starter like Montgomery—they might look like more than a one-and-done playoff team."

The flaw in that logic is that the Colts DID invest a mid round pick on a center.

I've said many times that we should sell out on the O Line.  Spend the money, over draft if necessary.  It all starts there.  You can say what you want about Jerry Jones, but he did the right thing in Dallas in building that line.  A good back becomes a great one, a great QB will have a longer career, etc.

Completely agreed. Quality depth is so vital along the O-Line. We should absolutely go all out to build a line. I want to see what Luck looks like when he doesn't have to do it all by himself. Get a line and watch our ground game take off. Keep Andrew healthy. That's how you build a dynasty.

I saw this on bleacherreport and agreed. It all starts up front. I think our biggest reason for the slow starts of late are due to poor line play. I think that absolutely starts at the center position. It's evident that we are better with A.Q. running the line. Just my thoughts.

Mods: This article isn't specifically about the Colts, but it does offer some insight on Jon Harrison. Please move if necessary

  12. Is he allowed to wear a cast in the injured hand? What kind of cast can be allowed in the NFL? If a cast is allowed, it would not make the fumbles a certainty by any means.

From what I've heard, he will attempt using an extremely padded glove. I think a cast would cause more fumbles, especially with the location of his injury. It's a 4th metacarpal. That will affect his ability to grip the ball regardless. A cast, to me at least, would decrease sensitivity and lead to more drops.

  13. I personally thought Skrine did decent against T.Y.. That was speed on speed. If I'm not mistaken most of his catches came against Hayden. I could be wrong, though, I did have a few cold ones throughout the game.

  14. Slightly off topic:

I must say that I really like John Lynch as an NFL broadcaster too. 1 hades of a strong safety who always hit the opposing ball carrier like a freight train at maximum speed & John knows the mental side of the game exceptionally well.

He's very knowledgable, tells intriguing stories from his Tampa Bay & Denver days, & he's a darn nice guy. Lynch is 1 of my favorite TV analysts.

I loved John Lynch as a commentator. He wasn't overbearing or way too talkative. He gave good insight, and was very knowledgable. Love it.
