  1. "If you put it in the moisture with the hot air, then what happens is that some of the air — which is moist water — it could condense and then it could even more rapidly lose pressure," Jung said. "They may consider it not illegal, but if they actually did it, does that really pass the moral test?"

    Hmm...

Inflate the balls to the proper PSI, but do it in such a way that they deflate on their own? Technically, you never "let" any air out.

    Plausible deniability?

Oh, wait...their denial hasn't been plausible.

  2. I do think the media should just let it go until the findings come out. But not going to happen I guess.

If it wasn't for the story blowing up so big in the media, the league would have swept this completely under the rug. And I think that the continued media coverage is absolutely necessary to force the league to take appropriate action.

  3. I know I didn't cover the rematch aspect, but again, I don't believe we deserve that either.

I'll say it emphatically; The only thing we deserve is the same thing all other teams deserve. A chance to come back next season bigger, stronger, smarter and more prepared for these big games against powerful opponents.

What do the Patriots deserve? They deserve to pay for what they've done. They deserve to go into next season humbled and hobbled by their actions. Their fans may believe their lies, but it seems nobody else does.

    Very concise and accurate breakdown.

    Edit:

What do you think about the idea I've seen a few sports writers suggest, that the Colts should be given the Patriots' 1st round pick as compensation?

  4. Posted by me at another fan forum;

[Regarding the idea of a rematch] As I've said numerous times, this isn't about the Colts. It's about NE and what they did. It's about how they've made a relatively benign attempt at skirting the rules much worse by lying to the entire world, in Brady's case, lying very poorly. I don't want a rematch, because they'd embarrass us even worse the 3rd time around.

What if we played a rematch, but Brady and Belichick were suspended for it?  :D

    I'm totally joking about that.

    You're spot-on with this analysis.

  5. Right now it looks like Garropalo, which isnt saying much.. I don't think we'll have the "luxury" of sitting at the #1 pick any time soon, so they're going to need to hit a home run on a player like Russel Wilson in the 2nd or 3rd round

Your hope is for Belichick to retire before Brady. Because Bill has shown he can go 11-5 with Matt Cassel. That's not going to put you in a draft position to get an Andrew Luck.

  6. Listening to WEEI online and the sports guys mentioned that Brady addressed the team today ahead of his press conference.  (They mentioned that someone had tweeted that and I didn't catch a name.)

Really makes you wonder if he isn't going to take the bullet for this.

    Edit:

"Brady reportedly addressed his teammates behind closed doors at Thursday's team meeting. Per teammates, he told them he prefers the football "a certain way." He also told them to stay focused on next Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks."

  7. How many more controversial rules are we going to have to create because of the Patriots? Tuck rule, diving at the QB's legs, even hitting the QB, now the NFL has to address custody of the balls after being inspected and approved by the referees.

Don't forget the "trick" formations against Baltimore.

I would imagine the competition committee will take that up as well, in regard to allowing the defense sufficient time to substitute.

  8. agreed.

i think this whole investigation of measuring the balls, interviewing staff, etc that the league has done the past few days is a result of them getting egg on their face from Ray Rice.

If not for the Ray Rice incident, this is simply a fine handed down on Monday morning and that'd be the end of it.  They are covering their own tails and making sure there's no way damning evidence comes out after they have already punished the Pats

I heard someone say yesterday (I think Jay Glazer) that what he's hearing around the league offices is that they absolutely have to get this "right."

I will not go with the notion that a fine is all that should be done, but I agree that if this hadn't blown up as much as it has, it likely would have been swept under the rug.  I also agree that they most certainly do not want to hand down a ruling and then have more damning evidence come out later.

  9. Okay,  it now seems most everyone is in agreement.   This is clearly on Brady..

What do you all think the proper punishment should be...???    And Will be....??

My guess is,  Brady will take the responsibility,  be given a Fine.    Kraft will pay the fine....   and all will be rosy again in time for the SB.

    Pathetic.

I obviously don't know, but I have to think that a lot of people are underestimating the amount of pressure that Goodell is under after the mishandling of the Ray Rice incident.  I have to think that the heat is on for him to show that he has control of this league and that he's going to maintain its integrity.

  10. I didn't read any of this. But I must say for a Chargers fan you sure seem more upset than most Colts fans here who actually have a reason to feel cheated as they actually made the post-season ...

I don't know Girlzarefanstoo, but I'll go out on a limb and guess that, in addition to being a Chargers fan, she's probably a fan of NFL football and cares about the integrity of the game.

I'd post the definition of integrity, but you wouldn't read it, and judging from your posts, the concept would be lost on you anyway.

  11.

The only way I will be satisfied by this is if they suspend Belichick for the SB.

Was just listening to Mike Francesa on WFAN in New York.  He thinks Belichick should be suspended for the SB.  I agree, but I don't think that'll happen in a million years.

He also pointed out that Roger Goodell can repair his public image by bringing the hammer down on this.  If he goes soft, the public is going to kill him, perception wise.

  12. You know what the saddest part of all is?

    I ain't even mad.

We lost to the pats last year in the divisional round, I blew my top. That was a fire, a sting I hadn't felt in a long time.

When we lost to them this season, I felt it again. All that fan rage, always being second best, always having that glass ceiling crushing our heads...

Tonight when I went back to playing Skyrim at 31-7, I wasn't even mad at all. Let down for sure. But mad? Nope.

The New England patriots are our daddies. They own us.

We beat them ONE time in the playoffs. And even then we had to come back from 18 down at half.

We can't beat New England. They have pounded us into submission over the years to the point that I'm cool with it. "Oh, New England is on the schedule? Go ahead and mark that as a loss, that ain't gonna happen."

I'll never even entertain the idea that we can beat the Patriots until the clock strikes 0:00 and we have a lead. In whatever strange post apocalyptic future land that happens to take place in.

It is what it is. We can't compete with New England. Same story, different decade. Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat.

Sadly, I get what you're saying 100%. I think I've missed exactly two Colts games in the last 13 years, and I understand that there's a lot of anger in my thought process, but right now I'm thinking, I'm not even going to *watch* another Colts/Patriots game until Belichik retires.
