  1. We are in trouble. I'm going to have to find another sport to follow. My NY Mets are spending so much. No wonder their $100Million player is out for the year. That is not a winning formula in football.
  2. Oh gosh. No. I have no problem with the player. I do not want us to mortgage our future by paying him so much and giving up draft picks. Please no.
  3. I'm a big fan of both guys we cut before free agency, Adam Thielen and Eric Kendricks. I wish them the best. They are both class acts. After Adam's career is over, I would like to see him have a role with the Vikings. His Twitter account still has him as #19 on the Vikings.
  4. Thanks. All the best to Adam, a fan favorite who grew up a Vikes fan and was signed as an undrafted free agent by his favorite team. Whenever he retires, he will sign a one-day deal to retire as a Viking.
  5. So... Who are some of the best players in this coming draft by position? Does anyone have a link to one publication ranking players by position? If so, please share. Thank you!
  6. The Ravens like to get compensation for their players. They were not going to cut him but I believe they could have allowed him to leave in free agency. I don't know what is going on there. They have always seemed like a respected team with good head coaches and a top rated front office. I'm not sure why he would not want some continuity with a team and players he is already familiar with.
  7. It is not just the cap hit. I would not want to give up two first round picks. I also would not put Jackson on the level of Mahomes. The only other QB who seems to be on the level of Mahomes is Aaron Rodgers. Even Rodgers may not be on that level anymore.
  8. Thanks. Cutting him would not be a good move. The Ravens would get nothing for him. The reason why signing him is a problem for most teams outside of the Ravens is because the team that signs him has to give up two first round draft picks. Had the Ravens not tagged him and allowed him to leave in free agency, the Ravens could have received a 3rd round comp pick. If they cut him, the Ravens get nothing. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what happens with him. The Ravens may have to sign and trade him.
  9. Thanks. In the beginning, some people called Mahomes a "running QB" too. They said he would get hurt and would not succeed. Once he started winning and he looked so dynamic, that seemed to change. I will never call a QB a "running QB" regardless of how they play -- not Lamar Jackson, Taysom Hill, Mariota, Vick, Josh Allen, Hurts. (I mention them because they throw and they run.)
  10. I hear what you are saying. Some QBs may deserve a guaranteed contract but given the injuries in football, one hit can end a career. I would hate to be locked into such a contract. I like flexibility. I do not want my team to be locked into a contract and have no way to maneuver, like what we had with Cousins. I'm thankful that our new GM found a way to make cap space this year without extending Cousins. Yeah, I am one of the few staunch supporters of Rick Spielman but I will never excuse him for that Cousins contract. That was the start of our downfall. I will always be a fan of Rick despite the signing of Cousins. I never wanted us to part with him. I think he should get another shot at a GM job.
  11. That Watson contract is ridiculous. How could he have so much leverage in negotiations, given the allegations against him and no certainty that he would in fact play. SMH.
  12. I posted something announcing this yesterday but now it is official. I did not realize he was a free agent. He may thrive in Philly.
  13. Okay. I like Lamar Jackson, but there is no way I want my team to give up the team for him. JMO. Football is a complementary game. I don't want 20% of my cap to go to one player and on top of that, give up two first round draft picks to get him.
  14. Thanks. I hear you. However, how do you determine that? It is very subjective. There is no objective way to determine that someone has "more leg talent than arm talent". I wonder if Fran Tarkenton was considered a "running QB". I doubt it. He did scramble though.
  15. I wrote a "fully guaranteed" contract. Go back and look. A lot of my thoughts are based on my QB having signed a fully guaranteed deal which the team could not wiggle out of. And what about giving up two first round picks. All of these variables led me to say that it is not smart for any team but the Ravens to sign Lamar.
  16. Thanks for answering. Would you give a QB (or any player) a fully guaranteed contract that uses up 20 to 25% of your salary cap space and give up 2 first round picks for doing so? After injury? I don't see it. Is Mahomes contract fully guaranteed?
  17. Are you adding to my point? My point stands even if Jackson had never had any injuries. And I am not just talking about Jackson. Even if that was Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady in his prime, I would not sign him to the contract he wants for the reasons I noted earlier. This is football, not golf. Most players will get injured. That should not be used against them. Note: @buccolts, my reasons are different from yours. I have no problem with Jackson the QB. I only have a problem with the contract.
  18. Re-signing OL (I love OL. More please) (Lol. I was wondering why we are doing free advertising for Budweiser. It says Bud in the avatar. It is for Bud Grant, not Budweiser. I had to zoom in to see that. I need stronger glasses. )
  19. @Aaron86 @richard pallo Did what I write up there make sense? If not, listen to Tom Pelissero in the tweet above. For me I would love a dynamic QB like Lamar. However, the contract demands make signing him impossible. When we signed Kirk Cousins, it was one of the first fully guaranteed deals. Before we got him, we used to re-sign all our valued players. After he signed, we could no longer do that We had to cut many of them because his contract made it impossible to keep them. I hated it. My fellow Vikings fans think I dislike him because I want Teddy B back. That is not the case. I don't like the Cousins contract. Whenever we decide to part from him, the dead money will be very high.
  20. That is what I was referring to. My post was getting a little too long.
  21. The Texans look like they are preparing themselves for the #1 pick. Their team looks bare. It seems like most of their players have signed elsewhere.
