I'll be the first to ask. How much more cap room does this give us?
2.5 mil I believe

Good luck in your retired life Joe, and thanks for all you gave to the Colts, and city of Indianapolis!

I like Perry, don't get me wrong, I just think he is going to get crazy money thrown at him, hopefully not by Indy...... I took you wrong on Moncrief, I think we mostly agree there, and he shouldn't cost too much. if Donte can stay healthy ,his talent and size are great. I like Sheard as a mid-level alternative to Perry as well. Not sure we will get as much edge talent as we would like as fans from FA this year....

Doyle is at least worth that amount we might have to pay him more and why wouldn't we he's our best TE and a potential top 10 in the league. Moncrief as well. How is Nick Perry average? Your opinion I guess but check his #s last year, he's legit as it gets. Reddick can play all over our 3-4 and he'd be best at OLB.
Doyle yes, Moncrief...... don;t even think about extending atm. Perry? Hell, look at his career, he is at, or slightly above average, in basically everything. He's not a top tier edge rusher, never has been..... wth are you talking about?

this screams, oh crap, I may miss out on 500,000 to me

I mean, glad he realized it would help honor his sister that died 10 years or whatever prior when his team ran out of RB's and wanted him to come back after he bailed on brothers who counted on him.
-
but, this is a point of view from someone who faced life/death as a kid, so maybe I am jaded? Hope he turns out well
-
yes you can, I dismissed it when i first learned of it, he didn't have to quit in my view.

Both, unless it's Hightower and Brandon Williams...... letting Kerr walk is a small move, but it may be a poker tell.....

Main reason is that he did not play in the SEC. If he had, we would be hearing about how great he was.
Before the flak hits think about this, a lot of people on here wants Mixon, even with his big red flag (2-4th round pick). Honeybadger, Tyrann Matheu was drafted after getting kicked off LSU his last year. Trent Richardson was drafted high in the first round after running behind a good Alabama line.
So I agree with you, that we should be hearing more about Joe Williams and IMO, should go 3- 4th round, unstead of 5- 6th.
I think a bigger issue teams have to answer, is in a year, with 16 game checks in hand, will this cat even want to play anymore? Based on his past statements and actions, that's a question I'd definitely be worried about the answer to as a team exec. looking at a 3rd or 4th round decision vs. 6th

I don't know much about him other than what people have already said here. His stats and his measurables are outstanding. Utah played a decent schedule.
Can't ding a guy for having a good line and taking advantage of it.
That's what Trent RIchardson said..... ; ) j/k

Ok, I guess technically his former coworker stating it in a radio interview isn't a document, but he did put it on the public record, but that's kinda splitting hairs either way. Regardless, this dead horse feels thoroughly beaten.
I agree, Ballard seems very well regarded, and optimism is dully warranted.

I'm hopeful he is very good, but I'm sure Grigsons old boss had flattering things to say about him as well.
I don't have any quotes from Grigson's old boss, but it has been documented that there were more than a few co-workers and peers who were surprised he got an interview for the Colt's GM position, and at least a few shocked he got the job....

At the same time he comes from a defensive background in regards to scouting so I could see him valuing defensive players slightly over offensive players aside from OL since he believes in building the trenches.
valuing more? not necessarily, being more comfortable evaluating, sure.

Now, for a completely awesome, prolly won't happen off-season, check this out.... I'd be happy lol

you have to set fanspeak to difficult not easy, and use the most current board, and have other teams pick from the same board, then it is much more realistic.

If all Julius Thomas can get in a trade is a 7th round draft pick, I hope this makes it clear that Dwayne Allen is not going to bring the Colts a mid-round draft pick in return. Not happening.
If we trade Allen, all we're likely to get is a 7, or, at best a 6 if a team is desperate. But with this year's tight end draft, no one should be desperate........
This is our reality......
Not really, our reality was always keeping Allen. The decision is what they are willing/able to pay Doyle, and next year Swoope. The decision was never about cutting Allen 1 yr. in to his new deal. You knew that, right?
-
they chose as an organization to try to fix talent level before coaching....... hired almost ALL new staff last year, new head man this year....... pretty clear they never intended to do both at once
-
probably because the Colts just hired a brand new DC last year?

Yeah I'm sure it's just the media being mean to us again..... not like we sucked or anything
technically they were as average as you can get, but whatever

This sucks. I think Doyle is a must keep. He can block and he has emerged as a good target in the passing game.
35 catches, 406 yds, 11.6 avg, 23 lg, 6 td's, 0 fumble, 0 sacks
59 catches, 584 yds. 9.9 avg, 24 long, 5 td's 0 fumble, 0 sacks
15 catches, 297 yds, 19.8 avg, 46 long, 1 td, 0 fumble, 0 sacks
Allen, Doyle, Swoope....... keep doyle if you can, but if someone gets stupid paying him, promote Swoope, hope he can block after a few ST years, and get a young guy to move in, hoping Allen stays healthy.... when DA isn't bitten by the injury bug, he's just as much an all around TE as Doyle, but with more big play ability.....I want Doyle back, but won't fret and can rationalize any decision they make, as long as the money saved if Doyle leaves, is best utilized, and not just left sitting......

Not seeing anything saying he is going to NY? is this confirmed anywhere?
