  1. There's absolutely NO WAY IN THE WORLD we'll get Milliner. And I usually am optimistic on draft day, but he's going in the Top 10 without a doubt

I don't think so either, it would take too much to trade up that far IMO. But they are kicking the tires nevertheless.

  2. UCLA CB Sheldon Price is visiting the Colts on Wednesday.

Price is a press man corner that has also been worked out by the Colts. Price is likely a third day target but has upside due to his measurables and frame. The Colts have certainly shown interest in the position.

Don't know much about him but to have a visit and a workout, we must like the kid

    Thanks for the info.

Looks like the Colts are in the CB market, Dee Milliner was apparently in today as well:

  3. Maybe we could have Cordarelle Patterson fall to us at #24.

    From Rotoworld:

    http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8327/cordarrelle-patterson

''A league source tells The Sideline View's Lance Zierlein that Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson could fall out of the first round.

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah is hearing the same thing. At 6-foot-2, 216 pounds with 4.42 wheels, Patterson is a freak athlete, but a raw route runner. He's also been nicked for his tendency to "body catch," though he didn't struggle with drops in college. Patterson was reportedly "very unimpressive" in his Combine interviews. Patterson has legitimate question marks, but he could end up one of the steals of the draft if he falls to day two. Apr 10 - 2:16 PM''

    Hmmmmmmm....sounds like a project.

Sounds like a team in the late first round wants a shot at Patterson... it is smokescreen season. Or maybe it's legit?

  4. Bumping this up:

    Colts Mailbag

"MICHAEL F. (from Porter Ranch, CA) I was interested, and frankly stunned, to hear GM Ryan Grigson tell some of our season ticket holders recently that NT Josh Chapmanicon-article-link.gif weighs 350-360!  Please tell me that Grigson misspoke, or that Josh doesn’t plan to play at that weight this season?  Is it possible he’s put on 35-45 pounds since he was drafted?  Please tell me no.  Thanks for these weekly mailbag articles, they’re very helpful!

A:  I did not hear the interview, but I assure you Josh is at the same weight range as he was when he joined us.  I spoke with him, and he told me so.  I wouldn’t put any fear into the matter.  All is going well with Josh, and we should see him starting work this year.  I can understand your concern.  We feel he has a bright future.  I told him we had a very concerned mailbag reader, and he liked it.  Keep following us."

  5. Every GM is probably thinking the same thing honestly i think he lands in san fran with one of there many picks.

They certainly have the drafting capital to take a chance like that.

I hope Lattimore does well, seems like a good kid with a lot of heart.

  6. Man this draft above any other is so hard to predict ...

There are about 15 players I really like, then it's about as clear as mud to me from there.

i feel we should get a RB in the draft

Colts seem to be bargain hunting for a RB... reportedly they had shown interest in Ray Graham earlier in the pre-draft cycle and apparently just had Spencer Ware scheduled for a look yesterday:

  7. Carradine is coming off of a torn ACL. Too much of a risk IMO.

Speaking of which... here's a good read on him and his recovery progress thus far:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/news/20130402/tank-carradine/index.html

"For Carradine, the path to the draft includes traveling a very similar path to the one Peterson hewed to last year, right down to working this spring with the same Houston-based physical therapist that helped Peterson shock the NFL world a season ago.

    ...

Carradine is in the process of making a flurry of team visits while still preparing for an April 20 private workout...

    ...

All indications are that his knee rehab is almost a month ahead of schedule..."

Risk is there but he'll have a chance to give teams a comfort zone if his workout goes well.

Ok, back on topic to Werner...

  8. He's going to be the back-up to Mathis on the Weak side....

Hughes will back-up Walden on the Strong side...

Hickman, or the new guy we got from Canada (name escapes me) will be the 5th OLB and special teams ace....

And even if Sidbury flames out,  he's $750K....    that pennies you find in the sofa cushions....

    Jake Killeen?

And spot on about L Sid. Colts took a flyer on the guy.

  9. So let's say a team like Buffalo doesn't draft a QB with their first, and they want to trade up to get our first. Personally I'd like to get their first for next year, because we'd likely be getting an early first rounder along with whatever else they give us (probably a mid rounder or something). Obviously a lot of this depends on what is available when we pick. If all the guys they have targeted are gone, I'd hope they trade out.

Could that scenario play out? Our first for Buffalo's third and next year's first?

I wouldn't like not having a pick until the 3rd round... no second round pick this year kind of kills a deal like that for me. How it actually plays out on Draft day, who knows?

  10. 26 years old? Isn't that Brandon Weeden's age? So we'll have a defensive version of Brandon Weeden on our team?

Weeden is 29... 26 is still older than you'd like.

If a team could know going in that they were getting the Margus Hunt that destroyed everyone in his last bowl game and would do the same in the pro's, I'd think they would draft him happily. My reservation is that at 25, he was already a full grown man that was playing against mainly 19-22 year olds. How will he deal with the jump in competition?

On the flip side, I'd hate to see him go to a team like, say, the Texans and blow things up opposite JJ Watt.

  11. Needs

    1. G/C - Any chance Warmack/Cooper slides to 24? If he doesn't, is Barret Jones a good option for the O-line? If so, which pick would it be safe to snag him?

I don't know where NFL teams have Barrett Jones slotted, but there's a fair chance he will start the season on PUP due to the foot injury. Maybe he drops a bit similar to Chapman last year if that's the case.

    http://walterfootball.com/nfldraftrumormill.php#barrett

"Sources believe that the uncertainty about when Jones will be able to take the field is hurting teams' comfort with drafting him. Scouts said they believe that he could make it into the third round, but could easily be a fourth-round pick."

    FWIW.
