  1. I dont like the idea of retiring numbers, it is a limited supply. Can't wait to see #127 out on a go route.

I think they should be put in limbo and the previous owner of the number gets to have a partial say in who gets to use it next, then that right is passed on.

I agree. The Raiders actually 'reserve' numbers like you are talking about, if I'm not mistaken.

  2. My only issue is I hope running the ball isn't the bulk of our offense, I like a ratio around 60+%passing/ 40-% running. Our QB is our best weapon, use him diversely.

I understand where you are coming from, but at this point I don't care whether they run more or pass more... as long as what they are doing works and wins football games. And hopefully keeps 12 from being knocked around like a piñata back there.

  3. 21  just the reverse of lucks jersey

luck was number 1 his jersey number 12

1 plus 2 equals 3 that is where trent got drafted

    21

    sounds good

2112 - makes me think of Rush.

    TR can wear:

    21

    25

    29

    42

    43

    47

    48

    49

Everything except 12, 13, and 17. While 18 and 19 are retired. But RBs can't wear those numbers

Adongo is listed with 49... I was hoping for 34, 32 or 22 but none are available.

  4. There is a reason Mcglynn has been benched and is seemingly clinging to a roster spot...for now

I missed that. I read that Thornton was settled in at RG, but didn't realize MM lost the starter spot as yet.

  5. Nope, that is not what I based it on.

RJF - primary role will be 3-4 DE with 2 gap principles, in other words containment primarily, and 3-4 NT on passing downs, at least that might be the expectation if we don't substitute. We have Nevis for 4-3 UT purposes, so I don't think RJF is the primary UT penetrator by any means. So, expectation there is more run D than pass D.

Walden - first thing talked about him was setting the edge, so there is stopping the run for you.

Werner - will be playing passing downs behind Walden, so yeah, that is a pass rush component other than Mathis, no doubt about it.

Montori Hughes is a big unknown, which is what I inferred to. Sidbury, you definitely have higher hopes from him than I do. Then, you trade Jerry Hughes for Kelvin Sheppard, who is more stellar on the run D front and had issues with coverage (from everything I have read and opinions shared by Bills fans too on BuffaloRumblings)

So, I gave you the unknowns, IMO, and whether you agree or not, this is what I based my run D oriented front 7 moves assessment on. :) Outside Werner, all our front 7 moves in the draft and FA focused more on run D than pass D with a few unknowns that we don't know how they will pan out.

The Colts are putting their money where their mouth is:

Grigson reiterating several times that the focus for the franchise's defense is to stop the run. Period. "Our focus is, I don't feel like as an organization, Chuck I know doesn't feel like - from his defensive standpoint - that he wants people to run the ball down our throat anymore."

"We have implemented players that have the mentality of stopping the run."

With the 3-4 body types, the mantra of "stop the run" is critical to Grigson. "It's a pride thing," he said.

  6. Patterson probably ended up in the right place to do well not bust.  They don't have the QB for a complex system and the addition of Greg Jennings takes the immediate pressure off of Patterson to run precision routes.  All the Vikes need him to do is stretch the defense occasionally and catch simple stuff underneath with YAC.  It is the perfect fit and likely to work.  Probably a poor fit for a Manning or Brady team on the other hand.

    I have to agree. IMO:

Patterson had more relative value to the Vikings. They can plug him into the Percy Harvin role and go.

Werner had more relative value to the Colts. They can plug him into the Kruger role and go.

Obviously how all these players pan out remains to be seen. But I feel like it's a good pick until proven otherwise.
