  1. I will be at work during the draft:( darn second shift jobs!

Me too. But I will be watching the little TV in the office on the side.

Colts might not pick before I get home anyway, or might not even pick tonight at all if they trade out.

  2. When the Colts traded up that year I thought for sure it was for Notre Dame DT Bryant Young. Needless to say I was disappointed.

To be fair, Tobin had his moments drafting while with the Colts:

    Marshall Faulk

    Marvin Harrison

    Tarik Glenn

    Adam Meadows

    Ken Dilger

    Ellis Johnson

    Ray Buchanon

    Ashley Ambrose

among others. Not to champion Bill Tobin or anything but he wasn't all bad in my book.

  3. I've also asked this before, and have yet to see anyone respond: Thomas played mostly at RG in filling in for the Pats, so why does the general consensus on this forum seem to be that he'll definitely play LG?

I assumed Thomas was brought in to play RG myself, but apparently Pagano was asked about it when he was signed and said they would play him at LG:

    http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/51293945/

"Coach Chuck Pagano confirmed the Colts will play Donald Thomas at left guard."

Your guess is as good as mine as to why. Maybe they are shoring up spots where the starters couldn't stay healthy last year?

For those of you talking about Chance Warmack for our G position, he may be there at 24. Apparently he's fallen on Mayock's draft and he's now the 5th best G on his list. Idk what made this happen, but it's on NFL.com if I read it right

This has Warmack as the '5th favorite OL among scouts':

Guess they don't like his apparent lack of versatility... thinking it will restrict options for in-game adjustments due to injuries on the O-line.

  4. “We’re going to probably look to trading out if there’s a player there that we feel is just OK. We want players at that spot, especially in the first round, that are going to substantially help us get to our goal.”

To me, I hear a willingness to trade all the way out of the first if nobody trips their trigger.

One week to go, can't get here fast enough.

  5. I like him, and I would like if we drafted him, but I think it would be a mistake to take him that high.

I'm starting to feel we might be able to say that about whoever they end up taking at 24.

The Colts may have to reach a little for a player they like if nobody unexpectedly falls or they can't find a suitable trade partner to move down a bit. Or I guess they could trade up, but I would be surprised if they did.

  6. Josh Chapman is actually a lot heavier now.

If you're referring to the Grigson interview where he said he was up around 350, something is amiss somewhere. I posted this in another thread a few days ago:

    Colts Mailbag

"MICHAEL F. (from Porter Ranch, CA) I was interested, and frankly stunned, to hear GM Ryan Grigson tell some of our season ticket holders recently that NT Josh Chapmanicon-article-link.gif weighs 350-360!  Please tell me that Grigson misspoke, or that Josh doesn’t plan to play at that weight this season?  Is it possible he’s put on 35-45 pounds since he was drafted?  Please tell me no.  Thanks for these weekly mailbag articles, they’re very helpful!

A:  I did not hear the interview, but I assure you Josh is at the same weight range as he was when he joined us.  I spoke with him, and he told me so.  I wouldn’t put any fear into the matter.  All is going well with Josh, and we should see him starting work this year.  I can understand your concern.  We feel he has a bright future.  I told him we had a very concerned mailbag reader, and he liked it.  Keep following us."

  7. they used to have him listed at 6'4" everywhere before the combine. I guess he shrunk after the season was over. They had him listed at 325 lbs before too, but at the combine he only weighed in at 311.

Looks like some are rounding up and some are rounding down:

http://www.rotoworld.com/recent/nfl/8431/star-lotulelei (all the way at the bottom)

Utah DT Star Lotulelei measured 6-foot-2 1/2 and 311 pounds at Saturday's NFL Combine weigh-in.
