The Holmes-Star match-up came during Holmes' senior year... he had a very bad high ankle sprain that he played with.
He should've been on the bench, but USC, with their severe NCAA sanctions was down to just a freshman center behind him and that kid was just not ready for Star.
So, Holmes played when he should've been sitting.
That video is often used to show how great Star is... but the truth is that video is very, very misleading because of Holmes' injury.....
Context can often be very, very important....
I thought he settled in after a very rocky start and acquitted himself pretty well the rest of that game, especially given the circumstances.

Cool. Half a sack off the league lead and 5 shy of the all-time mark of 22.5 set by Strahan. Not bad for an old man, eh?

I think he's more of a box safety, but the numbers support his claim that he does a good job in coverage. I personally would expect the Browns to tag Mack, not Ward, so he'll probably get to free agency.
Weird thing about the tag, though, it doesn't distinguish T vs G vs C for purposes of setting the salary. So it may make more sense for the Browns to tag Ward & work out a deal with Mack to keep from paying a C like a franchise LT. However, they do have a lot of Cap space so who knows?
http://overthecap.com/franchise-tags-lower-valued-positions-and-alex-mack/
"So I would think most teams would not consider using a tag on a Center. The Browns could be of a completely different mindset however. The team has over $20 million in cap room to carry over to 2014 and they will likely hit 2014 with nearly $45 million in salary cap space. For this particular team they may not see the harm in overpaying for a position."

how is nixon on the field producing and holmes can't get on the field?
Holmes played some 6th O-line/tackle eligible vs KC. But I get your point.

Well, If nothing else I can guarantee Cecil Shorts III won't make a game-winning play for the Jags this time...

OP right now:
If the garage door closed at the end, this gif would be perfect

I doubt it, Pagano told Kravitz that "All he knows, are good things happen when McGlynn is at center", this was in response to a question about whether or not McGlynn would stay at center
That's not accurate. It was the other way around:
I asked Chuck Pagano after the game, "Do you have any inclination to keep McGlynn at center?" He tap-danced around the question. Then I mentioned it again as he walked off the podium, telling him, "All I know is, when McGlynn's at center, good things happen." He gritted his teeth, managed a wry smile and walked off without saying a thing.

I will take a bye every time, given a choice that is.
Normally I would prefer no bye, but this year I think the Colts could really use the rest.

We are the 4th seed no matter what happens right?
No. That's the lowest they can be as a Division winner, but they can theoretically be anything from 4 to 1, AFAIK...

I declare this National Flag Day...

we have to figure out how to free up ty
Free T.Y.!!
Sorry, I must have had one of my moments there

If Rogers can make the majority of the plays that are there for him to make, I'll be encouraged.

LOL! That will teach me to try to do work while I'm typing in the forum. Next time I'll put the work aside.
Priorities appear to be in order (he typed, posting from work...).

The Stanford vision is coming more & more a reality here in Indianapolis
3 TE sets, Power running formations, Offensive linemen being brought in the game for extra blocking
It's gonna be a wild ride people, grab your snacks & drinks
Hey, you just reminded me I have apple juice in the fridge!
But yeah, it kinda looks like the Colts have decided to (re)commit to that run game.

There has to be pair of Eric Dickerson style Rec Specs in the facility somewhere he can use.
I dig it

@JimIrsay: Colts Inactives:
16 D. Rogers
26 D. Howell
27 J. Gordy
28 G. Toler
52 K. Sheppard
62 K. Holmes
94 M. Hughes
So who plays C if Satele gets hurt? Doesn't McGlynn have a fractured right thumb? How's he gonna snap the ball with his thumb in a cast?

Don't turn the RANT off. I wanna see more! But I do think the high post counts people deserve to be all high and mighty since they have seniority. It is like college status. They are the Seniors and we are the Freshman.
Just because someone talks (or posts) a lot doesn't mean they are saying anything profound. But then again, maybe they are. Judge every post(er) on their own merits, I say.
Re: Rogers - hopefully he shows something positive to build on when he gets a chance.

I can respect that. I just feel that Fred Davis is worth the low round risk for how brilliantly he has played as recently as a year ago.
I would be on board if it is a conditional late pick.

What will it take to tell so called experts that the Colts are no joke? San Fran, Seattle, Broncos..... None of that is good enough.
I like the underdog role

Vickerson's brain scan came back negative...

I got suspended for my potty mouth....like Jim Irsay I guess I can be a bit immature lol
I suspended myself all last week as well - I knew it was going to get crazy/stupid online during Manning week.
As far as Irsay... for someone in his position, twitter is like dog poo. If you step in it, it's going to stick to your shoe. And stink.
I personally would rather he didn't tweet. But he has every right to do so.

Just read on the Texans board that Daniels got put on IR/return... will be eligible to come off IR in 8 weeks.
ESPN confirms:

I miss the old days.
Does the receiver have control of the ball?
Did they get two feet (or equivalent) down in bounds?
If both of these are simultaneously true, then it's a catch. None of this 'completing the catch' or 'football move' stuff. Simpler times for a simple mind like mine, I guess.
