If his salary is the issue, then they ought to be trying to work on an extension so that his cap hit is more manageable. Cap concerns should be able to be managed.
He apparently does not want to rework his deal...

I never thought of Ijalana as a potential LT for us, because all the talk when he came out was that he would be better suited for guard in the NFL. I think it's the shorter arms, and because he's three inches shorter than AC, there wasn't much competition there.
I thought I remembered hearing about Ijalana having long arms prior to the draft, and how that would help him in the NFL?
Also, on different note - it looks like the Colts have added former TCU center Jake Kirkpatrick to the roster.

I prepared myself last year when I heard about the surgery for the possibility that I'd seen Manning on the field for the last time. I'm just glad he has been recovering well & hope he can continue to play like he wants to, even if it is with another team.

The comfort level difference was night and day when Pat moved to MLB...
He played MLB at Iowa, makes perfect sense to me.

Fleener provides a scoring threat as well as an increased blocking presence. Add to that the inherent value of providing Luck with some familiarity (regardless of Manning's outcome).
The thought of picking up Fleener in the 2nd or 3rd has been lurking around in the back of my mind for a while now. It would make a lot of sense if the 1rst pick goes as expected. The question is, can the Colts afford to take a TE over the other positions of need?

I think everybody's right on the positions:
DT
WR
CB
S
I saw one mock draft that had us taking WR Alshon Jeffery in the 2nd. A couple of months ago I would have hurt myself trying to do a backfip if that happened, but now with the reports of him being out of shape I'm leery.

Don't forget there is also conjecture.
Oooh, conjecture! Reminds me of the opening to the old 'In Search Of' TV series.
"The following program is based in part on theory & conjecture".

I think we need to draft a receiver as well.
I'm thinking by round 3 if they don't go the FA route.

Let he (or she) who is without hypocrisy cast the first stone...
I personally don't feel the need to 'blame' either side. It's a bad situation which isn't being handled (by either party) the way I'd like - quietly, with dignity, behind closed doors.
Fortunately, it will all have to come to a head in about 3 weeks.

"The only coaches still remaining on staff from the 2-14 team are offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen, his assistant Jim Bob Cooter, assistant strength and conditioning coach Richard Howell, assistant offensive line coach Ron Prince, tight ends coach Ricky Thomas and running backs coach David Walker."

Maybe he's pulling a 360 and you're just dizzy

Agreed. Reports said that it was Manning who insisted on the out clause and not Polian/Irsay. Never know how much truth there is to those reports though.
I take it at face value:
"The contract, I was the one that helped construct it in the manner that it is. It’s a one-year deal with a four-year extension, if you will. It was my recommendation, that I wasn’t healthy when I signed the contract and if I’m not healthy in February I think it’s fair for the Colts to be able to make their decision there."

I can't recall ever seeing so much controversy & hype over a college player, especially this far out before the Draft...

Way ahead of you, Chief...

This article makes no point whatsoever.
An owner who understands the business and financial end, trusting all things football to the general manager...
That's exactly how that relationship is supposed to function. The owner isn't supposed to stick his paws into building the roster. That's how franchises end up like the Redskins, Cowboys, and Raiders. The Patriots, Packers, Steelers, and Colts trust the GM to build a team, while the owner makes the franchise money. Polian has done a pretty darned good job, even when compared to those other franchises. If I were nothing more than a financial guru and businessman, I too would trust the football part to a guy that's had such success for so long.
I agree, Irsay was smart enough to realize he needed help evaluating talent & building the roster so he hired Bill Tobin & stayed out of the way. Same with Polian. He was also smart enough to know when it was time to part ways with Tobin.
The question now is "how long is the leash" for the Polian regime, and the answer lies somewhere between a recent Superbowl appearance & a half-decade of first-round draft disappointments... IMO.

Personally, I hope they both turn it around. But the clock is ticking...

I have nothing meaningful to contribute I'm just trying to get to 20 posts.
I feel your pain.

How do you guys know it was even Link's fault for the Williams on Clark x2? I think it was a coaching error.
If that matchup was intentional - especially the 2nd time - it was a HUGE coaching error.

Lets play some games first before we all declare this a lost cause and move to Canada or something.
Whoa! Easy now, nobody's moving to Canada lol
I agree though, let it play out a little & let's see what happens.

JMV is reporting Matthews will be one of the first cut
Which one? TE Michael Matthews or DT Rico Mathews?
-
It seems that the organization is committed to full competition this year at the guard and tackle positions which can only be good for the team.
Agree, it should help get the best 5 on the field. Hopefully Diem works out well at RG.

I'm good with 16 games. These guys get ground down pretty good over the course of the season as it is, IMO.

I wasn't in love with Freeney's corner but it was the only cut I could find until I started doing some digging through my two external hard drives and I've replaced Freeney with a better picture.
Looks good! I horked it for my collection
Colts Listening To Offers For Freeney

I don't know the details, just going off what was said here:
LINK
"The Colts do not necessarily want to part ways with Freeney, but they need the salary-cap space and Freeney has a $19 million cap number this season and is unwilling to restructure his contract, according to sources.
The Colts are now open to trading Freeney but will only do it for what they consider the right price."
