  1. Plus going guard in first gives us the chance to trade down and pick up a 2nd round pick hopefully.

That may be the best-case scenario in the long run. I could also see OLB being a big priority assuming Freeney leaves next off-season, or OT if the right one is there.

we can get someone like Margus Hunt in the mid rounds

Hunt is pretty intriguing... I've seen him go as high as the 2nd round in looking at the mock drafts.

  2. Apologies, I thought it was pretty standard to insert comments into a quote when there was multiple quotes used to address a specific point. My comment was concerning the idea that a lot of fans have that he had a run of the mill football injury or just played poorly. In fact he had a career ending condition that cut his time playing football short.

It's all good. It was a fly-by post by me & I didn't take the time to be precise in what I meant. Takes 2 to tango.

    Back on topic...

He's been playing lights out and he's been a tremendous leader.

I underestimated his play and way underestimated his leadership. Dude has charisma.

  3. I liked Simon OK in 2005. Not so much after that. He had a career ending injury/condition, therefore me and all the other Colts fans (excluding DoomOf21 and Tmack) will forget about his contributions and consider him an afterthought.

Concerning Corey Simon: He was a big factor of the best defense the Colts have had in decades.

"I'm Dwight Freeney and I had 11.0 sacks in 2005."

"I'm Robert Mathis and I had 11.5 sacks in 2005."

The portion in red was your addition to my original quote, I never said that, nor is it what I meant.

Looking back at my post, I can see where it might be misinterpreted.

I was speaking strictly to my perception of his on-field performance, which is the same as yours above: the '05 Colts D was very good due in large part to Simon.

  4. I was wondering when we were going to make a move for the o-line. Till this move we were going into Sunday with one maybe no back up o-lineman depending on Satele's health. At least now we have one guy but that is still a very very thin bench if Satele can't go and Shipley has to start. It wouldn't shock me to see another move made for the o-line if Satele ends up being ruled out.

This move gives the Colts 2 healthy backup O-linemen - Hills & Bradley Sowell - if Satele can't go...

  5. I think we're three players away on defense, as far as starters go: we need a better nose tackle, a better safety opposite Bethea, and a better nickelback. Hopefully we'll get Chapman on the field and see what he can do. If he is what we think he can be, then we'll be even closer.

I pretty much agree with you there, but I think it likely the Colts will need to add rush LB to that list, if we are talking next year going forward.

  6. This is a stupid article of one persons opinion. We wont get anyone better.

Key word - opinion... he states AV is "on the verge of getting cut", but I didn't see any quotes from Irsay or Grigson or anyone else in position to make that call, or to have the inside track on any such info.

Personally, I feel this very likely could be his last year with the team, but IMO he's going to have to really go into the tank to be cut mid-season. But really, who knows? What if he gets hot & finishes the season strong?

  7. Addison apply's more pressure from Freeneys spot than Hughes, howcome they didn't play him as much? Just what I saw from pre-season..

If Freeney does not play vs Minnesota, I think they're going to rotate Hughes, Addison, and Hickman

  8. They say Freeney has a sprained ankle. But that he is going to see a "specialist".

First, I hope it's just a sprain. But the specialist part has me worried.

Second. Anyone know if it's the same ankle or leg where the Liz frank accord?

As I understand it, the Lisfranc injury pertains to the mid-foot, so it shouldn't matter if this is an ankle...
