Something I totally forgot was I know Moss is listed as a starter but I don't know if t.o. Is starting.
-
Moss or T.O.?
-
I was extremely impressed with the pass to Collie. The ball was absolutely perfect. Oh and that throw to Quan Cosby? Right on the money. Can't wait for next week.
-
10/16 188 yds 2 TDs in one half so far
and I counted 3 dropped passes, one from Collie, one from Allen and I forget the 3rd...I think Hilton
-
Mannings first pass was a TD too
-
Thanks bayone
Didn't realize it till now but Manning has a bunch of weapons. Totally forgot about Stokley and Dreesen prior to the game. Jason Hill too I watched him play for the Niners and he made plays when given the opportunity.
-
On the flip side Denver's D looked solid. I think that's going to help Peyton more than anything.
-
I thought Peyton looked good. The o line even better. What was it, 3rd and 17? Beautiful pass. The int I won't put too much in him but it was a little behind stokley. Still it was a catchable ball. But hey that's why we have preseason.

Cool thanks, I was hoping to catch some updates on NFLN.

I'll make the same argument I make when Pats fans talk about Brady's postseason stats compared to Manning's: It's completely unreasonable to grade a player based on a tiny percentage of his games against the best competition in the league. Marvin played 190 games, and you're grading him based on 8.4% of those games. As a matter of fact, this is even more unfair for a receiver than it is for a quarterback, because the receiver can't produce if the quarterback can't get him the ball. Marvin wasn't great in the playoffs, but I reject the notion that this somehow makes him a lesser player.
Isn't that the entire point though? We are talking about the best WR's of all time. The best do it consistently and against the best competition as well. If we are looking at the best WR's of all time, you have to take into account how they played in the post season when the competition was at it's highest .Talking quarterbacks, there is a reason why Montana is regarded as the greatest of all time. It's not because of his regular season play. Look at Montana's post season play. When the competition was at it's highest, Montana played his best. That is why he is regarded as the greatest.
If you want to be compared with the best, you have to take into account how well they play in both the regular and the post season. Just like we do with Manning, Brady, Rice etc.
I'm not saying he isn't great. No doubt Marvin is probably top 5 but when he is compared to guys like Rice, it's not even close. And why? Because the difference is in the post season. Marvin's regular season stats if I recall were on par to match Rice at some point if he played as long. When he stands up against someone like Rice, its another story.
Now it can be argued how much Montana and Rice benefited from each other but Montana was doing pretty darn well even before the Niners got Rice. In fact both played pretty poorly from '85 until '88.
The thing is Manning has actually played pretty darn well over the course of his post season career. Just the two blemishes in New England where the same can't be said for Marvin. He played pretty average.

I agree with IndyTrav, as much as I love Marvin he was pretty much a no-show in the playoffs. Compare that to someone like Rice who was an absolute monster in the playoffs. heck look at his stats in the SB alone. Rice played more games but here are the stats
Rice: 115 rec 2245 yds 22 tds (29 games)
Harrison: 65 rec 853 yds 2 tds (16 games)
Wayne: 83 rec 1128 yds 9 tds (17 games)
Even compared to Wayne...and Wayne had 1 reception for 1 yard in his last playoff game so you might as well make it 82 rec 1127 yds 9 tds in 16 games.
What makes it even worse is Harrison scored his 2 td's in the same game against the Broncos in 2003. That was his only 100+yard game in the playoffs as well. And if you guys recall, a large chunk was credited to the Broncos not touching him while he was down and him getting up and running for the score.
Still love marvin though, only Colts jersey I own

Wait so Ijalana is out for the season? @%$#!

Not buying it until I hear it from Rob Lowe!

I dont see how the 49ers are a complete team without many needs. They still may need a Quarterback, having 1 decent season out of 7 could very well mean 1 hit wonder....which took 6 years to happen and even then he was just a game manager. 49ers also gave up 44 sacks last year which was tied 25th in the league
Yes but there are a lot of factors such as Alex constantly having different OC's, injuries, and a revolving door at the WR position. Also I'd say he had a pretty darn good season considering Davis was their only real offensive threat. Now with even more weapons and a year of the system under his belt, I think he will do just fine.
Their line is young, inexperienced (vs. Ravens), but still got the job done. 3 first rounders invested in that line and they'll only get better. I think they are the most complete team but not 100% complete.

You guys aren't very high on the Broncos I see. . .
-
It was actually a good list.
-
In this point at time I'd put him #2 right behind Rodgers. I don't know why there is so much dislike for the guy on this board. Because he beat the Colts in the SB? He just came off one of the best seasons in NFL history. 2 of his best seasons have been in his 30s. The guy should be paid.
-
I think its a good list. I also agree that since Welker and Brady have been doing it longer they deserve the top spot.
-
<--- has nothing on Andrew!!
-
I think we can safely assume that Reggie Wayne, will in fact be, Reggie Wayne.
Not to be that guy, but how would you even know anything about the '98 roster, considering you became a fan last year?
I like the part where I stated I became a fan last year
-
in hindsight the 98 roster is better but we wont know until we see how this current roster pans out
for all we know Wayne could have an awful season, maybe the scheme doesn't work out etc. or vice versa
-
He'll be good but not Rodgers/Brees good. Thats '04 MVP territory. But heck if he proves me wrong I 'll be happy.
Anyone else find it pleasing that...

He really focused a lot more on the Rams than the colts. I mean A LOT. Spent a good 3 or 4 mins alone talking about their rookie RB. Kinda cool for him to commentate on his two old teams.
