  1. Honest question.

Has Luck ever even played against a 3-4.... Could be a rude awakening.

yes I know off the top of my head Cal has run the 3-4 for a few seasons

he lost to Cal his rookie season but absolutely torched the next year and I know Cameron Jordan the Saints 1st rd pick from last year played DE for Cal

  2. heres a good article on it

    http://espn.go.com/b...4-base-defenses

I think its really become an issue only because playoff losses against 3-4 defenses vs the Chargers x2, Steelers x1, Patriots x2, Jets x1

Keep in mind he actually played well in some of these losses like the Jets last year and the Chargers despite 2 picks (one right off Kenton Keiths hands) and in another game that went to OT.

But this guy has shredded some 3-4 defenses before like mentioned in the article. On the way to the SB he played really well against the Jets and Ravens. I agree with 21isSuperman that he has gotten better against them most recently

  3. Based on what?

Yup they are gone. replaced by a GM who has never been a GM before and a HC who has never been a HC before (became the DC of a stacked defense for one year) an OC, whom many fans from his previous team are glad to see him gone) and the only DC on the NFL that managed to allow more 3rd downs converted than the Colts (actually more any team in at least the past decade, I didn't look beyond 2001).

Am I the only one that sees the irony of a poster with the monkier "DwightFreeneyRules" complaining about small players?

You do realize it wasn't the Polians that wanted to the smaller defensive players don't you? That was the coaches, the Polian's just found players that matched the criteria the coaches set forth. That is why there was a drastic difference in the LBers, safeties and DEs drafted between Mora and Dungy and then why there was a difference in the DTs and CBs drafted between Dungy and Caldwell. Yeah, I'm glad Coyer is gone as well.

So it's okay to like the new regime even though they haven't played a game but it's not okay to not like the new regime because they haven't played a game yet?

:edit: . .the guy posts his opinion and you are trying to turn it into a full on debate.....

  4. Manning/Leaf was a lot closer than Luck/RG3

It was pretty obvious it was going to be Luck since what? When the Colts didn't have a win yet? Remember suck or luck and I recall seeing fake Luck jerseys in the stands. Irsay lets 'Andrew' slip in an interview not too long ago. And yes its 99.9% going to be Luck. I think RG3 is much better than Leaf though but the gap is bigger here.

Actually late in the season it was Luck vs. trading the pick vs. trading Manning for picks just from what I was reading here on the forums. I could be wrong. It wasn't until the cap gurus here explained to me and others that trading Manning would be cap suicide. It also seems like most fans are for Luck and only a handful really like RG3.

  5. I'm not complaining until Vinateri pulls a Cundiff in the playoffs. I sure as heck don't want a repeat of 2005. Stastistically he was pretty good last year right around 85%

  6. Crazy . . .Felony charge with up to 2 years in prison?? Wow, but it was his 2nd offense

In california marijuana is decriminalized. Possession of marijuana (1 oz. or less) is equivalent to a traffic violation. Its just a slap on the wrist and a max fine of $100.

but this was just plain stupid . . it said he was already caught on feb 18th for the exact same thing

  7. TE is not a top priority but still needed. I am deathly scared of who is going to start opposite of Powers. I do not have any faith in the current corners. . .

I think offensively the Colts have enough. Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie, Donnie Avery, Blair White . .that is a solid WR corp pre draft. RB core is young and talented. Eldridge can block and I think that is key. Yes another TE is needed but I do not think for the 34th pick. If TE was really needed that badly, re-sign Clark seeing that he isn't getting interest anywhere else. Yes possibly injury prone but he isn't going to cost a fortune now.

The defense should be the #1 priority. I thought this was obvious after all these years, even the 60 burger last year should have made it clear.

  8. It would make Luck's transition to the NFL game much easier if he had a veteran TE like Clark to throw to and learn from for a season. All those years catching passes from Manning, I would think Clark and Wayne together could help develop Luck greatly!

You're missing a space in your name!!

  9. The Ravens are a well balanced physical team but are without high level skill players on offense. Thay have been to only one superbowl and that was at a time when defense won championships. Not any more.

The Ravens did not have Peyton Manning or anyone of his caliber. heck they won with Trent Dilfer who came in halfway through the season in his 1st year with the team.

  10. It doesn't just seem tough - I know for a fact that it is as I've been through an accredited architecture program. I too am a pretty bright guy having graduated with a 4.0 with published works at several prestigious universities around the country, but hey I can't deny it sure would be nice to be the #1 overall pick in a major sport. :P

But this has nothing to do with Andrew Lucks situation. You're are blindy accusing him based on your own experience, not based on any credible evidence whatsoever. Maybe the kid just really gets it and doesn't struggle as much as the average student.

Devil's advocate, Luck could come out and say architecture is the easiest program in the world and that is why he chose it. He can focus on football while cruising through a program. Obviously that is an objective opinion but it's exactly what you're doing.

To me it sounds like envy, for a guy to be enrolled in an arch program and still be the best quarterback is incredible! So incredible that I must make blind assumptions because no one should actually give the kid credit for possibly just working his tail off.

  11. I reckon if you have never been through an architecture program you wont understand how much time it requires. There are only so many hours in a day and I have little doubt that a great deal of his hours were dedicated to football. I stand by my claim that there is no way he completed the arch program without some major bending on behalf of that arch program!

You make it sound like it's impossible. Of course its much more difficult but at the same time he has access to tutors and other sources of help. I doubt Luck is partying every friday night getting trashed or playing Xbox all day. He seems like a really bright kid who has the right intentions. I'm not sure if you're envious or just blindy accusing him because it seems tough.

  12. Mar. 22 - 8:31 pm et

Reportedly interested in signing free agents C Jeff Saturday and TE Jacob Tamme, the Broncos are being held up by stiff competition from other teams.

According to NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora the Seahawks are "very intent" on signing Tamme after losing John Carlson to the Vikings. With strong interest from the Packers and Titans, Saturday is weighing all three options rather than simply following Peyton Manning to Denver.

Come on Jeff - no way are you going to the Titans! Sign with the Broncos!

Is no one showing any love to Dallas Clark?

I think it comes down to Clark vs Tamme. Tamme is a younger guy who showed he can put up 'clark like' numbers and wasn't injured 2 years in a row like Clark.

  13. NFC. . .49ers, Packers, Saints, Giants, but even the non division leaders are pretty darn good. . teams like the Lions and Falcons. Upcoming possibly the Eagles, the Bears looked good with a healthy Cutler.

The AFC is the Patriots, Ravens, Texans and maybe the Steelers. No one else really stands out.
