  1. I don't understand this at all. Peyton talks to Kravitz . . . Irsay talks to Kravitz . . . . and then Peyton talks to Kravitz again?

Why are they not talking to each other?

I would think Irsay is busy trying to put together a GM and coach while quality people were still available. Now he's getting kicked out of his facility for the Pats. Hopefully after the Superbowl things will quiet down and egos can be stroked.

  2. He said with a team in the playoffs you have to get permission from the team and the position being offered has to be a promotion over their current position. Same instance when he hired Polian way back. Polian was the GM at Carolina but Irsay offered him the President position to get around the rules.

  3. First off, I didn't want him hired in the first place. He was given a chance because he is Dungy's friend. My preference was Jim Harbaugh but I knew that wouldn't happen because Polian threw Harbaugh out of here when he took over. Second, I don't like what has been happening with the staff over the last couple of years. Huey let go, Moore and Mudd retire only to show up on the Jets and Eagles. Third, Caldwell isn't going anywhere since he has "won" a game as long as Polian is in charge. He has a perfect perfect puppet and now Polian can claim were winning because of the adjustments we have made during the course of the season so there is no reason to can the coach. He in as much said in an interview that if the team went 0-16 there was probably no way to keep the coach.

  4. BP seems to be the best evaluator of talent after the fact. Dalton and Yates are starting and playing well and now he says, "Oh, I was going to draft them but someone else beat me to them." By the way, I thought Chris Polian was the the GM and making the drafting decisions but apparently BP is still at the helm.

I consider that another Polian fabrication. Yates was taken in the 5th round. Whats was he waiting for next year. I have come to the conclusion Polian is like a politican. You can tell he is lying because his lips are moving.

  5. First you can't approach another teams coaching staff during the season because it would be considered tampering. The reason you fire a coach midseason to see if new leadership can get the team inspired, ie Frank Vogel of the Pacers. I am of the opinion that there is nobody on the current staff worthy of being a head coach so firing Caldwell won't accomplish anything. I am also of the opinion that Jim Irsay needs to fire the Polians and the coaching staff. As far as a front office replacements I'm in the dark, hopefully Jimmy would have some ideas. When Dungy left I was hoping for Jim Harbaugh but I figured it would happen because Polian is the one who ran Harbaugh out of town. Jim has a coaching pedigree and he turned 2 bottom of the conference college teams into conference contenders. Not sure anybody really stands out in the Pros and college looks even more bleak. The only person out of college I would consider is Les Steckle at LSU. He took over a program made good by Lou Saban and has not let it deteriorate so he is doing something right.

  6. people are getting way to caught up in what kinda of offense each qb is playing while in college. it's not lilke luck is running the wishbone. stanford prolly plays that way cause they lack athleticism at the wr position, but have an excellent run blocking offensive line.

BINGO, we have a winner. As said before Barkley has better surround talent at the WR position. Luck has to play with TE's. His only real deep threat has a problem with concussions. I believe he has had 3 this year alone.

  7. Is it just me, or does it seem like the Pats/Colts rivalry just disappeared? I mean, it was HUGE for a long time when these two teams played each other, now all the talk is about Pats/Jets. I understand there not being as much hype around the game this year because of Manning being out and Indy's winless record, but I still see this as a big rivalry game. Am I the only one?

The reason is Rex "Jabba the Hut" Ryan. The NY media is so gulible to his self promotion that he gives them something to report on without having to do any work. Since ESPN is right there they do the same.

  8. The Pack will go 16-0..

..the Bears cant defend them for 4 quarters...

with 2 weeks off...and a sliding cam..we might beat carolina..

..and if Manning plays for even a few series in the home final...we might win that one. too..

I agree on Cam Newton. He's now at the point where the college season is starting to finish up. With a strike shortened off season he might be worn out by the time we play them. Pure speculation on my part.

In the case of Green Bay as the season wears on and the idea of going undefeated can be a distraction because of the news media hounding them. Players will say one game at a time but they will be looking ahead. It's human nature.

  9. I remember in 1997 an 0-10 Colts team beat the 8-2 defending Superbowl champion Green Bay Packers 41-38. Jim Harbaugh was injured and little used backup QB Paul Justin played the game of his life. He drove the Colts down the field for a game winning field goal with 3 seconds left. Green Bay was heavily favored and like they say "on any given day." . The Colts finished the season 3-13 and selected Peyton Manning in the next draft.

  10. Kravitz is doing his job as an editorialist. He writes stories to create sensationalism. It sells papers. He doesn't use facts to build his story except to emphasize a point. He uses his intuition and imagination to create a story. In contrast Phil B. is a reporter that reports information he has acquired.

  11. Well you can't get anybody from another team till the season is over so you have to bring in someone unemployed or already on the staff. The only person on the staff I would consider is Christensen. I'm not impressed with Clyde so nobody from the staff. Don't really care for Gruden, Fisher or Cohwer. Wow I don't like anybody currently available or can't think of anybody available. Give it to Clyde maybe he's a better HC than an assistant.

  12. Come the end of the season somebody will be sacrificed. I wonder if Polian will tell Caldwell to fire Coyer and Rychleski? If he does will he do a Mora and fall on the sword to defend his staff or will he throw them under the bus. After all he did fire Dungy's coaches and replaced them with his friends. Now I wonder even more why Tom Moore and Howard Mudd left. They both retired and then a year later they are coaching with another team.

  13. Do you remember the Special team ratings stat the network showed in the first half. Punt return: Last, Kickoff return: Last. If that is playing well in all phases of the game he better wake up and stop smoking the weed.

oh wait according the caldwell "were playng well in all phases of the game" remember that after the saints game.... yeah so we are playing really well today.

  14. I think back to the beginning of the season and the team was feeling disrespected because everybody said the Colts are a one man team. I think you can see it in their faces it is starting to sink in that it is true. Next will be how long before there becomes divisions in the locker room. Most importantly is next year when Peyton is back will they have lost any swagger they have had.

  15. Just to comment on a couple of your picks.

I don't like Billick, he was an offensive coordinator genius at the Vikings and was expected to fix the offense at Baltimore and failed. He was smart enough not to mess with the Ravens defense otherwise they would have never got the Superbowl win.

Callahan was an offensive coordinator genius at Oakland and took over after Gruden left. He took the team to the Superbowl but bombed. The next year the team quit on the coach. He then went to Nebraska and almost tanked the program. Since I live in Nebraska I've seen him coach and he doesn't know how to make halftime adjustments. I've seen the Huskers go into half with the lead only to come out flat and lose games. He stands on the sideline with a deer in the headlights look. No thanks.

As far as Zimmer I can't give an intelligent response because I don't know him. I can only make general observations, just because a person makes a good coordinator doesn't mean they will make a good coach. It's a "Peter Principle" thing. Promoting a person to their highest level of incompetence. You have to look at their resume and see what kind of people they worked with before. Coming from the Bengals would be a red flag.

    my ideal new coaching staff:

HC: Brian Billick, I'd honestly prefer an experienced coach for Peyton's final years...and if there is any coach with a high enough football IQ to possibly be able to help Peyton improve his game even just a little bit I think it'd be Billick.

OC: Ken Wisenhunt, or if he either keeps his job with Ari or won't consider a OC position then Bill Callahan, the current Asst. HC and OL coach of NYJ

DC: Jack Del Rio, Leslie Frazier or Mike Zimmer. If the Rams fire Steve Spagnuolo then I'd give him strong consideration too.

DB Coach: Tim Walton, current DB coach of Detroit or Dennis Thurman, current DB coach of NYJ. May have to offer one of them some sort of promotion like Asst. DC or even Asst. HC or something like or a big raise to bring him here from their current team. If one of these 2 were to be offered DC job I'd prefer to give it to Walton because Detroit is one of the teams considered to run a variation of the cover/tampa 2 like the Colts do whereas Thurman comes from the Rex Ryan tree that has aways been a 3-4 so would have to find out if Thurman could adjust to the 4-3..

All that said, if the Colts were going to give the HC position to a current coordinator then Zimmer would definitely be at the top of my wish list. :)
