Stop the run. Keep Mariota in the pocket and make him pass. Not worried about AJ Brown, or any of their receivers really. Walker is Mariota’s go to guy. Screens should be a focal point this week.
Totally agree with your post. To the bold there were several times Rivers was running around outside the pocket making plays and Mariotta is 100% more dangerous running loose.

I typically hate gadget plays but Id love to see a double reverse with Hilton and Campbell. Get the defense flowing east with Hilton and have Campbell come back West.

Honest question I cant seem to answer...
Why are we victimized by RB passes so bad the past few years? Over pursuing, cant get off blocks, weakness in the scheme, etc? How do we fix it?

Oh yeah? Hold my beer...
Decent catch - Hookers right-handed. All of my flag football INTs were done with my left hand to up the difficulty factor. Total waste of a 1st round pick.

Those refs did everything they could to ensure a Chargers victory.
The Ebron TD (which was a catch)
The bogus Autry hitting the long snapper? (gimme a break)
Multiple holds never called
The whack Houston offsides call
Surprised they didn't call Hooker's INT illegal for being to amazing.
I feel the same way and Im certain its my Colts bias because I dont think the refs are really dong it on purpose but....
Just once cant it go the other way? This week Id love for Mariotta to throw a "TD pass" where the WR looks to tap both feet in the corner of the endzone but the officials call it an incomplete pass. Im sitting at home saying, "wth was that call? That's a catch and a TD" but the refs come back and say incomplete pass and they send in the FG unit. Just. Once.

All it takes is for a door to open and get your chance. Warner won the SB MVP and regular season MVP when Green went down in the preseason. He came from the arena football league and was bagging groceries.
Matt Flynn, Matt Cassell and recently Jimmy Garoppolo got big contracts for very limited play on the field. Garoppolo basically played in 2 games in the NFL (on the best team in the league mind you) before he got paid SERIOUS money by the 49ers. Whats the difference between him and Kelly?
As a funny aside the reason Jimmy G started is because a certain QB was suspended for the first 2 games of the season.

It also included a right tackle from the Texans to the dolphins. The meat of the trade was the picks and Tunsil, who will get huge money next year
Fair enough - I agree the LT was the meat for the Texans.
I mention Stills only because hes not a throw away player. He'd almost certainly be our #2 WR.

Texans just gave up 2 firsts and a second for Tunsil. He is gonna want a lot of money
That trade also included Kenny Stills not just Tunsil.

I know this is a Brissett highlight reel but my gosh Hilton is soooooo good throughout this whole clip.

I understand not being sold on Kelly but what more do you expect from a player in training camp?
By all accounts he was a model teammate and player.
He excelled in game time whenever given the chance.
What else do you want? You can't win the Super Bowl in the preseason but you can do your job and do it well enough to earn a real shot.

Those guys got long contracts. Plus, they don't play qb
Agreed. Plus $15 mil a year has got to be on the very very low end for a starting QB (excluding rookie contracts).

Elite team + elite QB has only happened twice in my lifetime so expecting for both is very very unlikely. The Patriots and Brady - look at their defensive rankings the years they've won the SB and the Cowboys with Aikmen.

Hes unique because he CHOSE to quit playing before injuries or Father Time made him quit and some fans take exception to that.
Verbatim to what you said.
I cant tell if we disagree and should agree to that, you're missing the context or I'm not explaining myself. One last time from me and Im moving on...
According to Andrew he quit due to injuries.
Some here believe Andrew gets a pass because he suffered injuries playing football for the Colts and he shouldn't be criticized for quitting on his team.
I'm pointing out that 1000's of other NFL players suffer injuries just like Andrew and keep playing and dont quit on their teams. That makes Andrew unique because he quit and wasn't forced to stop playing and there's a HUGE difference.
Bashing fans for being disappointed/angry/sad at Andrew for quitting because Andrew has been hurt is a terrible take (IMO).

Yes, that's the guy, with 2 SB's vs. Patriots.
I thought that was Chris Snee?
Quick Google search confirmed you are correct - Chris Snee married Coughlins daughter. Nice memory.

I head David Diehl (have you heard of him?) on NFL radio this morning talking with Bob Papa. He said he had just talked to 9 current Colts, and said not a single one of them hates or was 'mad' at Luck. None. They were upset about some of the fans booing Luck though...
I have heard of David Diehl assuming its the lineman from the Giants years ago. Wasnt he the guy who married Coughlins daughter?

So once you start playing you owe it to the game to continue despite injuries till you are too old or too crippled to continue?
Thats not what I said. I said;
1. NFL football players get hurt and sustain injuries- thats unavoidable and comes with the job.
2. Andrew Luck is/was an NFL football player.
3. You and a few others seem to think #1 and #2 can exist separately.
If #1 and #2 exist separately wouldn't every NFL player quit after injuries too? Why is JJ Watt, Aaron Rodgers, TY Hilton, Carson Wentz & 1,000 other NFL players still playing after injuries and Andrew isnt? They've been hurt and hurt seriously too, correct? Do you think this is an individual/personal decision for Luck or is it true for all players? If its personal to Andrew, then Andrew should expect that personal decision to come under scrutiny and so should you.
As I've said in other posts, Im happy for Andrew Luck the person for finding happiness. Im very disappointed in Andrew Luck the QB because it makes our team worse. Those two things can exist at the same time and its not up to you to tell others how they should feel.

I may have overreacted to over the reaction of so called Colt fans over thisyou attempted humor but I have been quit worked up over the many so called fan reaction to a man who has chosen to not risk anymore injuries that could definitely affect his quality of life now and in the future. He was pummeled like no other player in the NFL his first 4 years in the league and spent a great deal of his life those first 4 years rehabbing. he may be a person who doesn't react well to painkillers but for whatever reason it affected his psyche.
Recent studies showed a year of two ago that out of 111 players examined post-motum that 110 had
I'm sorry but injuries are part of NFL football and Andrew doesn't deserve a medal for playing and getting hurt. There are literally 1000's of players that have dealt with injuries, more severe injuries and pain - Andrew is not unique in that aspect. Hes unique because he CHOSE to quit playing before injuries or Father Time made him quit and some fans take exception to that. That has nothing to do with their commitment to this team or their Colts fandom in general.

he would have to either come back and play here, or be traded
we have his rights for i think two more seasons no matter how long he waits.
In that case I retract that statment. Irsay is just being a good person then.

They also know not to invite controversy by saying anything else. Maybe they are 100% behind Luck which is fine but even if they aren’t they aren’t going to say it.
To paraphrase Reich from yesterday...this is a paradox.
Every player LOVES Luck as a person and wants him to be happy.Every player HATES Luck for abandoning the team when they need him most.
Depending on their individual relationship with Luck they may have more hate than love but every player 100% has a little of both right now.

Maybe you should try to scratch under the surface about Irsay letting him keep whatever money for this year and Luck accepting. This is no prediction, but it is a huge gesture of gratitude if Luck should ever get healthy and decide to give it another go. At worst, it’s Irsay being what most sports team owners aren’t; human and decent
You're right on here and Im guessing Irsay views that money as a down payment for the future even if Luck never comes back.
If Luck comes back next year and the Colts took their money back that makes the Colts the bad guys (see the Lions vs Calvin Johnson).
If Luck comes back and plays for someone else (dont know the rules here) that makes Luck the bad guy by a long shot.

Ok. I thought the aquiring team ate the contract. You mean a penalty to us, right?
Ok. even I wouldn't trade for him at that price. But at 34, I don't think a release is out of the question with Fromme coming out.
Matt Ryan was #4 in passer rating.
#3 in TD's.
#3 in yards.
#4 in INTs.
There is a more likely chance the Falcons disband their entire team next year than them cutting Matt Ryan.

To anyone criticizing the boos Saturday - one question:
Have you ever booed a ref or a bad call?
There's one big difference between booing a ref and Luck. One is a snap judgement that you are marginally invested in (and apparently acceptable to boo). The other is a player/organization that you are extremely invested in and probably have been for years. Which one warrants a larger emotional response?

It does seem odd. Is there any reason to not wait? Is there any real risk of losing Jacoby at the end of the season?
I suppose the idea is pay him now in the top 20 range and hope he massively exceeds that deal? Which will lead to a new deal anyway. If Brissett finishes as the 3rd best QB in the league the next two years I dont care what the extension is the Colts will restructure that. If he finishes as the 32nd ranked QB two years in a row you overpaid for something that could be easily attained elsewhere.

FWIW Florio just said on his show that he's hearing that the Colts are working on an extension for Brissett NOW.
That has to be the worst idea I've ever heard - seriously. The Colts are holding all the cards.
If Brissett is amazing this year hes gonna get paid/extended. If hes terrible he wont. Why decide now when you dont know which it will be?

I think the big problem in your post is its all about what AV wants. The NFL has been and always will be a league about what you can do next, not what you've done in the past. As much as I like AV this shouldn't be his choice - the guys missed 7 kicks in his past 3 games. The Colts should say, "you're gonna be benched. You can retire on your own terms or you can be cut'.
A Hall of Fame resume has nothing to do with this. Can he make the kicks? The answer is no.
