    Interesting. Who do you prefer?

Idk, if it’s corner…I’m torn between Quinyon and Arnold.

Quinyon tested very well, played well, and runs a 4.3.  But he also played Toledo.  Idk, something about those smaller school players, I’m always susceptible of them.  Just my personal opinion.

Arnold also tested, did run a 4.5 though.  But played much tougher competition.

im pretty sure one of those two will be available.  Me personally, I’d want to go wide receiver and get BTJ if he’s there at 15.

yeah I’m convinced we didn’t even try.  Because that’s honestly doable.  Idk, maybe his injury history worried Ballard.  Idk what we’re doing at this point.  Our offense better pretty darn good because our defense is going to be very young and pretty much the same if not worse.

And for some reason Ballard will get a pass while the coach and AR will be the ones who feel the heat and are expected to win games against teams with more talent. I'm convinced now that Ballard knows how to identify the teams' short comings but has no idea how to acquire players to fix those short comings. He's too worried about the Lockeroom and what other players may think instead of understanding that our players will welcome players in that can help them win. This was a critical offseason for the entire franchise and Ballard sat idle and watched the rest of the division get better. Again, we will go into the season expecting our help to come from the draft and he just doesn't draft well enough for that to happen. After 7 years people, there is a pattern here that clearly doesn't work in today's NFL and if he didn't get aggressive this offseason, he never will. I'm done with the "my fault " crap after every season because he knows he won't be held accountable. I will always support the Colts but Ballard has to go.

I honestly think this will be his last year if this team struggles because of the lack of talent.  If Shane coaches his tail off once again and ar plays majority of the season and shows he’s not fluke…and do not look good, I definitely think irsay will show him the door.

  4. Fitting.  We’re essentially running it back with the same team but younger after the draft.  After Ballard blamed himself for the defense being so young.

i predict we’ll pick up some cheap vets that we’ll hope can come in and play well.

Instead of using FA to sure up holes and put ourselves in position to go BPA, we’ve pigeon holed ourselves into either going DB or safety (in a class that’s said to be a BAD safety class)

idk what Ballard has up his sleeve, but can’t say I feel confident about our chances of even winning the south.  We’ll see.

    Appreciate that….

But in the defense that Ballard wants to play, the 3-tech was the most important position, and the Will was the 2nd most.   Hence Buckner and Leonard.

And Ballard said he hired Bradley because his defense was the most like the defense that Flus ran.   So there’s that.

I thought the defense the Colts ran the most was Cover 3.   Is that not true?   I’m sure someone here knows.

no you’re right, Gus scheme is a cover 3.  Just my personal opinion, we play it like it’s a cover 2.  We have the safety in the box like a cover 3 but idk, I feel like we run a cover 3 but run it like a cover 2.

sorry about the earlier post causing confusion.  Meant mention Gus scheme is a cover 3.  I’m doing a lot right now lol

Curious?   When was it revealed that FS is more important in Bradley’s defense than any other DC’s defense.  Honestly, I missed that.

in a cover 2 or any variation of it, the safeties are probably the second most important position group.  With the MLB and DEs probably being the most important.  If you can’t defend deep in the cover 2, then it pretty much defeats the point of playing the cover 2

  7. Looking back, I wish we had went with what I hoped we did.  Would’ve turned out much better:

    - Resign our major players (which we did outside of Blackmon)

    - sign McKinney.  I know, Ballard said he doesn’t like to pay safties a lot, but I think McKinney would’ve been worth it.  He’s an all-pro, 24, and top 5 at his position.  The money we were thinking of giving sneed could’ve went to McKinney and it wouldn’t have taken any draft compensation.

    - sign a vet CB.  Look at Kendall fuller.  Went for $8mill/yr and can play both nickel and outside.  Wouldn’t have costed what sneed was going to cost us and would’ve solidified our CB room.

this would’ve set us to take the best offensive player with our first pick.  Or maybe even grab Arnold if he was still there and just load our cb room up even more.

But nope, we resigned our players, which I love, but what did we do to get better?  We came close to the playoffs last year but teams in our division made moves to get better.  We made moves to stay pat.  If AR doesn’t come in and play like he’s a top 10 QB next year, we’re done.  And I’ve been a supporter of Ballard, but if we fail yet again he needs to go.  Get a GM in here who will do what’s needed to build a winner.  The foundation is here, just needs to be built upon, not sustained.

i know, it’s the second week of FA and it’s still players we can get but I can’t look at our team and say “we’re doing what we need to do to get better”.

That terrible pass rush also finished 4th or 5th in the NFL with 51 sacks.    And you make it sound like it’s only the Colts whose outside rushers get help from the inside push.   That happens on many teams.

we were 30th in pressure rate also.  I think scheme is 50% of the problem (need to blitz more) but we could also use a bonafide DE.  Too late for that now though.

If Richardson doesnt work out then Ballard should be on the hot seat to me.  You cant take a decade to find a QB you can win with.

he should be fired at that point.  And I like ballard

  9. That would suck!  KC seems like they’ve supported their team even before the Mahomes era.  I’d hate to see that happen. Would remind me of the sonics leaving Seattle or chargers leaving San Diego.

I am still so baffled about that Fields trade. If you treat him as a pure athlete... if you treat him as a running back... he still must have more value than a 6th round pick. How have the Bears botched it this badly?

By not trading him when his value was at his highest (last year) and then allowing the teams who wanted him to fill their needs.  They could not keep him, that was not going to work.  That would’ve put the rookie in such a bad situation.  Bears definitely took a fat L with this one.

I don't usually agree with one person here, but I agree that getting players through the draft is what is most ideal. However, if a team has the means to acquire a top player especially at a position of need, then go do it.

agreed, there’s no one way to do it.  FA and the draft has to work hand in hand.  Doesn’t mean winning the FA trophy every year, but grabbing those proven elite players that can immediately fill a need is key.

yea they might pick 1/5 potential wrs the colts would want … there’s more WR options to pick bruh lol

hence why I said we may trade back.  Nabers, MHJ, Odunze, and BTJ will be gone by 15 most likely.  If our other highly rated prospects are gone then a trade back is more than likely.  I was high on BTJ and that’s why I’m bummed.  But I’m ok with trading back.  I’ve said in other threads I’d be ok with getting Arnold or bowers and grabbing someone like leggette if he’s there in the second so I’m not opposed to grabbing a WR later.  I’m not one of these “end of the world” posters.  Just really bummed that we had the chance to grab a certified dog at WR, if we were going to get him.

It's no different than ny other situation where a player is not happy with the money he's being offered .

the way I interpreted that tweet was sneed doesn’t necessarily want to sign a contract after being traded.  If money is the issue then once again, we need to move on.  But idk, we’ve waited this long and now are kind of stuck.

At this second, yes it is… but it would be if Blackmon was signed over someone else and is injured by week 3 too.

they aren’t even remotely close to being done with the secondary…

If we were to grab sneed and a FS I’d be happy with what we have:

    CBs:  Sneed, Brents, Moore, Jones

    FS: FA signing

SS: Blackmon (if we bring him back)

id be happy with that defensive backfield.  My issue would be the pass rush.

  15. Hard pass on Keenan Allen.  Getting paid a lot.  32 years old.  Can’t stay healthy.

what this means though is a trade back is most likely going to happen.  So many wide receivers are going to be gone by 15 and I don’t see us trading up.  I was so excited about the thought of BTJ or Bowers coming to the Colts.  But that’s not happening now.

ugghh, this sucks.  Maybe Arnold will be there at 15.
