  1. Good for Peyton!!  Papa John Schnatter is from the town where I currently live.  He's obviously been a hometown hero of sorts around here and has been a big contributor to the University of Louisville (Papa John's Cardinal Stadium) and to other local organizations.

I thought he was a cool guy who gave back to his community.  But, blaming dropping sales on the players kneeling was ridiculous.  I challenge anyone to order a pizza from Papa John's and compare it to the ones in print ads and TV commercials.  The one you buy has about half the toppings.

His better ingredients, better pizza slogan is bogus.  Crust tastes like cardboard and toppings are sparse.

    Anyway, just my two cents...

Will be nice to go to games and be able to buy a different brand of pizza that actually looks and tastes like pizza.

  2. I'm posting this because I hope someone, or several of you, may know the answer.  Is our current Scouting Department basically the same group of scouts we've had for several years?  Or, was the Scouting Department completely revamped when Ballard took over last year?

I'm just curious, because we all know there have been some big busts in our draft during the Grigson years, and I wonder if any of the scouts are still around from the years we picked Dorsett, Werner, etc.  I know that Scouts don't make the actual picks, but I would assume their input is valuable to the GM in preparation for the draft.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. - I know we're not the only franchise to have had 1st Round busts.  I'm hoping whoever we draft int he 1st round is a long-term, productive Colt.

  3. What we do with the #3 pick will become much clearer once the FA period is underway and we start signing players.

If we hit the jackpot in our FA signings for O-line, then maybe the option of trading down to draft Nelson is not as viable and we draft SB to run behind that new line.

If we sign a RB or two to form our committee in the backfield, then #3 doesn't need to be used on SB and we could draft Chubb or trade down to get extra picks.

If the above two happen, then we can trade down to get extra picks and draft BPA, whether it be edge rusher, DB or LB.

I'm sure Chris Ballard will have several binders with different scenarios to follow depending on who goes #1 and #2.  And, he will be getting lots of phone calls right up to the time we draft at #3.

We all have opinions on who should be picked at #3, or who we trade down with and draft at the new spot.

I'm not gonna agonize over it, but will trust Ballard and Reich to build this team by whatever means are necessary and begin putting together a playoff caliber roster.

I'll just sit back and watch and enjoy...very exciting times ahead!!

  4. Would do the trade with Buffalo if we filled some big holes via Free Agency.  The picks from Buffalo would really help fill the not-so-big holes with some talent.

If we don't hit big in free agency, then we'd probably not want to drop that far in Round 1, even for 2 picks in the 1st.

I guess it depends on the free agents we sign and what are needs are come draft time.

  5. I watched nearly all of it until my phone battery ran out.  Got to see it up until the part at the end with the current players, so I'll use the link posted here and go watch that part today.

I AM SO GLAD "what's his name" backed out.  I cannot imagine the "visor-man" saying anything close to what I heard last night and last week from Frank Reich.  Yes, the other guy is a great offensive coach, but I fon't believe he would have brought the overall vision and integrity we have now.

Obviously, I wasn't at the two interviews with the NE guy, so he must have impressed Chris Ballard enough to have the job offered to him.  But, end the end, I'm confident that it all worked out the best for us.

Also impressed by the assistant coaches and liked what I heard from Sirianni and his approach to the offense and the past history with Reich.

Very enjoyable viewing!!!  Oh, and the face-time interview with Luck was great!

  6. 13 hours ago, Superman said:

Nothing against Peter King, just wondering why he was the choice to MC this event....

He's non-local, unbiased media...if they picked a local TV or newspaper reporter to MC, then that would cause some problems.

However, the one option would have been Bob Lamey.

I think they picked King because of his years covering the NFL, so he's had previous conversations/experiences with Reich and others.

  7. Wow, thank you so much!  I watched the colts on TV when possible, but was too young to really appreciate his talent at the time.  What an amazing arm and the dude could run, too.  I'm sure that reckless abandon contributed to shortening his career, but how cool to watch a QB take on a tackler instead of skipping out of bounds.

That video brought back lots of great memories of great Colts players.  I miss the big pads, the mud, the grass, the shoulder stripes that went under the arms, too...
