  1. Does anyone have a history as to how well 2nd and 3rd round tackles work out in the long run.

The thing that bothers me about that is just that there is such a premium put on tackles that 2nd and 3rd round tackles seem like a huge step down.  Far more then the difference between a 1st round guard and a 2nd round guard.

But I don't think the top tackles taken in the 2013 draft (picks 1 & 2) have fared that well. I hear that Fisher is struggling at left tackle and that Joeckel is also struggling after recovering from rookie injuries. That makes me think that you don't need to pick high for a good tackle. Castonzo was first round and very few people seem to have good things to say about him. I think he's doing quite well but what do I know. Maybe he needs to crap sunshine, too.

Anyway, ignore me. I'm probably talking out of my rear.

  2. It didn't look intentional to me when I watched the replay. He may have exaggerated the push but I really don't think he intended to hurt Jackson. If that was his intent, he could've done that before he was pushed in the back.

As far as the Gronk thing goes, I was only mildly concerned that other Colts players didn't come to Brown's defense. Some of this stuff you have to let go anyway. This is tackle football, not patty cake.

  3. Glad he's finally lived up to his potential. I'll put him in the "redeemed" pile along with Toler. I thought for awhile that we got the wrong TE, as Ertz looked better than him, but he's been on fire lately. I also think its safe to say he is far more athletic than Allen.

Allen was also a TD machine early this season though, but injuries have set him back. But if we keep these guys together along with Hilton and Moncrief,we could one day have one of the best offenses in NFL history.

I thought Ertz was in the next year's draft.

  4. Oh no doubt, it didn't cost them the game, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, Fleener has bad hands.

He's a great guy, but he's not an elite TE, and he doesn't deserve to be paid or mentioned like one. He's just run of the mill, average, or slightly better than average.

If he made those catches instead of drops all the time, it would be a different story.

I'm not sure what the infatuation with him here is though, it is a bit unnerving.

I don't think anybody in this thread has called him "elite" nor has anybody said that he catches everything. If anything, the people who are trying to give him props here have gone out of their way to acknowledge his big drops. What more are you looking for??

It's like no one is allowed to like anybody on this team whether they play big roles or small ones. They have to be board-sanctioned world beaters first. It's annoying and tiresome.

  5. Fleener's bigggest weakness (other than run blocking) is his absolute inability to make a catch as he is getting contacted. I don't think he's ever made a catch in traffic. Other than that he's a good player.

I disagree with this. He is getting much better at catching in traffic and with contact. Some of the most impressive catches he's made lately have been seriously contested.

  6. We've got two versatile TE's...why the heck does it matter who is better than the other? Both guys are giving us an advantage when they play. End of story. No debate to be had.

It seems to me that a few people are thinking one of them has to go when it's time for contract renewal. They want their chosen guy to stay. I don't know why we'd have to cut either of them personally.

  7. Last year everyone was bashing on him for his noobness. Can't catch can't block. Blah Blah Blah. He is no Allen, Graham, or Gronk. He is Coby Fleener. The cub is finally turning into the lion.

Thanks for posting the videos. I hadn't seen the second one before. He looks like the only one who ate his Wheaties.

  8. That drop was a major facepalm, but he made up for it.

He's really coming on this season! I've been impressed. I wish he could run block like Allen does, but he just has a different skill set. Hopefully, Allen will get healthy by the end of the season so that he can help out in the playoffs.

  9. You have to remember the running styles of our RB's are different. Trent is all about the power up the middle where our blocking lacks the most. I think he does try to be too fancy at times which makes it worse on him. Ahmad and Boom are speed and finese guys that get the opportunity to bounce runs to the outside or just inside the tackles. That is where our strong point (or decent) blocking comes from. Our quick guys get upfield in a hurry, while Trent struggles to find the hole up the middle. There is a big difference. Unless our blocking gets better or we mix things up for Trent like the read option (which I love how it was successful against the Jags) he will continue to have a low YPC. That doesn't mean he isn't good! I blame the coaches and the line for not doing their jobs correctly. If then, Trent is still struggling (dancing in the backfield) I will write him off, but until that time comes, I will point out to people he isn't the main problem and the real reason why he isn't as good as he should be.

This. I wonder that others don't see it.

  10. I'm glad to have a guy who considers himself a football player and not just a QB. It's like the team brought in a linebacker to play the quarterback position. He's not afraid of the contact, though that may not always be a positive thing. I remember watching him go out to block for Boom on a run play a few weeks ago. And while interceptions always suck, I like watching the man run them boys down.

  11. "And from this time forward, there shall be no waves formed amongst the peoples gathered here presently.

As thy team taketh the field, thou shalt stand as one body and create much sound with thine body parts.

This shall be done until the end of the 60th second of the 60th minute, or until the whistle has blown it's last.

Thus I speak unto you, sayeth the random internet guy who maketh all da rulez."

  12. If we would stop living in their shadow..... I wouldn't have to post so much. I give them the credit they deserve

Most colts fans have a vendetta against them or whatever they wanna call it, I don't. They're the better team, nothing wrong with admitting it and giving them credit especially given how well they're playing right now. Can't wait for their matchup against GB. Gonna be an offensive explosion!!!!!

    :Nuke:

We who? I can freely admit that I wish Belichick didn't beat us down nearly every time the Colts and Pats have met in the past decade, but living in their shadow? If anything, Luck is living under Peyton's very long shadow. It'll take years for him to get out from under it.

And I wouldn't call it a vendetta; I'd call it a rivalry. It's football not the mafia, though I am well aware that for many it is just as serious.

I'm pleading with you, though: please stop with all the flying elvis iconography. It unsettles my apple juice.
