Why would the Packers hide the Bills offer from the Colts? Obviously they want to get the best offer possible and will tell the Colts what they have to match or beat. This is not a debate. What I'm saying is fullproof.

Unless you were in the office or on the call (if there even was one) all you have is your opinion of what you think should have/ might have happened.  That’s fine- this is an opinion board.  But you expressed the whole post as FACT, and it can’t be known, let alone presented as 100% accurate.

If we would have made the same offer, then the Packers would have done it because every GM knows the Bills are a better team than the Colts. If Ballard made an offer, then he made a lower offer. I guarantee 100% if Ballard was interested in Douglas, the Packers would have told him the Bills offer, and all he would have had to do is match it because our 3rd will be higher than theirs.

So either Ballard low-balled an offer, wasn't interested, or refused to match the Bills offer where the Packers would have said yes.

Don't try to defend Ballard here.

We’re you in the Packers Office, or do you just like to make up stories, since you 100% guarantee things?

    True statement. @Restinpeacesweetchloe

I am hoping the Giants clean house and we can get Don Martindale.

2 of the best college DCs I would love to have as Colts DC, would be Glenn Schumann of Georgia or Phil Parker of Iowa. The latter does more with less. Maybe we draft Cooper DeJean of Iowa and pair him up with Phil Parker of Iowa. :)

I like Iowa. But I’m a Penn St fan. I’d take Manny Diaz.

Yes….   The Colts try to win.   No tanking.   Not even what I called a semi-tank job this year.    The Colts try to win.   Period.

    Full stop.

I’m almost 70. Been a Colts fan as long as I can remember.  I always want wins!  But before the season started I believed this year they’d be lucky to win ONE game. They’ve won three- have a decent chance to win another three. So I’m ecstatic.  Finish the year, hopefully get KJ Hamler healthy and playing- draft a fantastic WR and a few CBs, and let’s GO!!!!

I wanted levis. Man he looked good today too.

I wanted Levis, but my excuse is I’m a Penn St Fan, and Will played there before transferring to Ky.

I believe we’d have been 5-2 before yesterday , with either Levis or a healthy AR.  But we have AR, and he has shown great Learning of the passing game in limited time.  Steichen can coach him like he did Hurts, and I believe we’ll be just fine with him.

Before these last 3 games I thought we’d be replacing Gardner next year- that he’d move somewhere to be a starter. After the last 3 games with all his turnovers, I have to believe GM will want to stay with Steichen, even tho it means being a career Backup. The Stache would make more mistakes away from his Mentor, and he knows it-  IMO…

I think Dallas feels like they stole Trey Lance.   I think the Cowboys feel like Lance might be their short term future and maybe more if they move on from Dak.  So I don’t see them turning around and trading him for Sam E.   I don’t think the Cowboys would go for it at all.

I prefaced the post by saying it was probably stupid to suggest- but I’d love it if they did it.

Well fine but he hasn't finished any NFL game he has started. Not sure how many other rookie QBs this has happened to but I  can't remember any. There is nothing that shows this injury trend won't continue when he comes back next year and I think it would be prudent to look for something better than the Mustache as a backup because my gut says that we are going to need it. AR may be a great athlete but so far he has shown he is made of glass. I like the kid. He has a great attitude and work ethic, however that doesn't always translate into survival in the NFL.

I posted in the Trade Thread- I’d try to trade Sam and a low pick for Trey Lance to back up AR next year.  I expect Minshew to be gone next year, and Sam just doesn’t fit the profile of a Steichen type QB.  Lance is an AR Clone which seems to fit Steichen’s plan for the Colts.  Sam and Lance both make the same Base Salary, and both are signed thru next year.  Or, maybe the ex Mississippi kid (Matt Corral) the Panthers drafted last year?  He, Lance, and AR are all runners, but all three got hurt early in their careers…

What trades are you interested in before the deadline?

Probably stupid to suggest, but I’d look at trying to trade Sam E and a low pick to Dallas for Trey Lance. Lance is more a Richardson Clone to back up AR, and signed for next year as well.  We’ll probably lose Minshew next year.   Base Salary is same as Sam.  I do like Sam, but it’s pretty obvious by now Sam isn’t going to be the main back up in Steichen’s Offense. I believe Steichen can make Lance into a dependable QB if AR isn’t ready…..

Admittedly, I skipped out on the XFL and USFL this spring. I was just burnt out after the draft. All of the feedback on the “sky judge” that I’ve seen and heard from the season, however, has been positive so it’s not like it simply can’t be done.

I’ve been a Colts, thus NFL fan for almost 70 years.  After last year- I found the XFL more enjoying!!!!!  And I saw a lot of PJ Walker!

I just went a little more in-depth on this in my reply to jvan about how I feel the presentation has made the officiating a problem.

And I honestly feel like that has more of an adverse affect on viewers than anything else. I know we’ve all heard plenty of “I don’t watch football anymore because the refs decide the game” stories. Those were extreme arguments, but there are a lot of fans who have stopped watching over it.

Having an official who could correct the kind of stuff that prevents that argument. It makes the NFL look like it’s committed to its rules.

I sympathize with officials. I do not mean to % on them in any way. The fans in the seats can literally look up at the big boards and see it with better vision than they actually have. And they can do it before the next play starts.

Traditionally I’ve always heard that refs don’t want someone undermining their calls. That was always the traditional argument against replay. They don’t want someone judging them for being wrong in real time is the argument I’ve heard against something like a sky judge.

But how exactly is that working out for them? It’s happening anyways, and now they’re getting heat for the times where they get it wrong.

Officials are against it because it is to them what the first robot was to the assembly line.

And while that’s fair, I do think it is inevitable.

It’s becoming a major issue for the league. This has been a story on the front pages of most major news outlets today. Between Mike McDaniels Twitter thread, what happened in our game, and others yesterday, the state of NFL officiating has taken some spotlight. This kind of stuff is going to drive a lot of fans away over the long-term. Something has to improve.

The XFL televises the replay referee live, hooked to the on field ref live. And many of the players interviewed immediately after the play on the sideline.  Makes the game fan friendly and Fun!

Greeny this morning, went off on how he felt the Colts had every bad call against them. Which it’s kind of nice to see it’s not just the fans who felt their were bad calls.

I’m a truck driver. I deliver every Monday in a Cleveland suburb.  The guys there apologized for the penalty call, but were ecstatic about their win.

I like the helmets. The jerseys looked like pajamas.

I only listen to the games on radio, because I’m at work at game time. Watched the ESPN Colts-Browns Highlights YouTube, and the black helmets made it appear as blue unis with a black blob on top.  Maybe the Horsehoe shows in upclose shots? But I’m a strong No!

I’ve been a Colts fan since the Early 1950s, so yes, I’m for the Traditional ones, of course. But it’s actually because of the blob , no detail showing look that I’m against them.  I could be convinced to keep the tradional look at home and add blue pants on the Road. Maybe even add a blue away helmet.   But definitely a Strong no to the Black Blob!

  13. The reason the Colts need to keep Pittman- he never misses a down.  Every wr mentioned trading for has health issues.  Just like my favorite on our PS- KJ Hamlin. Denver cut him because of health issues. Jeudy is possibly available because of health issues.

  14. Colts signed KJ Hamler to the PS last week.  Denver needed a roster spot, he is recovering from a torn Pec, and on medicine for a slight heart abnormality.  They had told him they intended to resign him in a month, but Colts took a gamble and signed him.  I hope he is soon healthy and called up! When healthy he should be the fastest on the team, and had excellent hands at Penn St.

Losses are much more easier to accept when you see the potential. We haven’t had that the last several years

Last year Colts were supposed to be favored by many to win the Division, and fell flat. This year we are supposed to win very few- just develop players for the future (especially AR5), and we’ve been ahead or tied in the 4th quarter in all four of our games.  That’s a significant step towards success.

Personally, I like the “”underdog” perspective from media. I wonder if players read this stuff?

Bob Kravits had them winning two or three. Local media is no better.

Okay Colts - PROVE THEM WRONG, ALL YEAR LONG!!

I’ll eat a plate of Crow right now. I’ve cheered for the Colts since the 1950s, thick or thin. I was sure the only game we’d win was the Houston Game here in Indy, and that we were building for next year, not this year.  Glad I was wrong!

I agree, I think it'll be relatively close tbh. It just doesn't accomplish anything for me as a fan spending 3 hours watching besides trying to get the win. At this point, I want to watch Richardson, win or lose. I invested the time into seeing us lose enough to select him at 4, watching the draft where we selected him at 4, training camp, preseason, etc... I'm not doing the veteran QB thing again as a fan. It's not a "fault" of anyone, but I just refuse to watch unless Richardson is the QB at this point.

I do think we can win though. I said Ravens 24 Colts 20 in the prediction thread, but we could easily pull off a win as well.

To each his own, but I just can’t relate to your thinking. I’ve been a Colt fan since the mid1950s, thru thick and thin. It’s entertainment. I can’t imagine any other way to be a fan?!?!

And imagine what we would have if our backup QB got hurt during the game as well.

    My wondering mind asks:

If AR passes protocol by Sunday- can he be the Backup and maybe have Packages for him?  My next question becomes- if he passes protocol but not Active- isn’t he the Emergency QB?

Further- if he doesn’t pass- who can be an Emergency QB, since to be a 3rd one, one has to be on the 53 and not a called up Practice Squad player?  What other Colt would follow Gardner and Sam and play the Tom Matte Role (when Unitas and Cuozzo were injured and Matte played QB in the Playoffs?)

Lets hope all goes well and there are no injuries!!!!!!
