  1. Honestly, I will HATE IT if we spend another pick on a WR.

    Heres why.

We have TY, Griff, Da'Rick, and Brazil on the roster for the future. Reggie will likely be back next year, and I bet you Hakeem will come back if we want him back. I think we are set at WR for THIS YEAR, and if we lose Hakeem or someone else next year, then we can draft a WR NEXT year.

I know. I really am hesistant and like I said in the post it was more because I'm a fan but he would be a playmaker for us. Hence the wildcard pick. But yeah I want Rogers to be our next starter, I see a ton of potential.

  2. My guess(es):

#1-Lamarcus Joyner, CB/S-I want this kid. He just plays with energy and I love it. He's got a knack for making plays and would pair up perfectly with Landry. I personally prefer him over Brooks but I would take either.

#2-Marcus Martin, C-Personally I don't want a center at this position. Get one later imo but it's a real possibility so I'm guessing it. Chuck seems to really like him and worked with him @ pro-day. Would be #1 Center of the draft and fits a position of need since Holmes is the unknown.

#3-Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB-Would instantly upgrade our pass rush and could eventually take Mathis' spot when he retires. Wouldn't be very popular for the same reasons as Center since we picked Bjoern last year #1 but it's a big need and we can't rely on Mathis getting 19.5 sacks again this year.

  3. There's a few different directions I can see us drafting today. I think we look at OG, C, CB/S, OLB. This is of course all dependent on the player still being there @ 59 but we can still dream. Third round I'm going to throw out some names of players that I can see dropping and making it to the 3rd round, could even be a potential trade-back scenario picks.

    2nd Round:

-Xavier Su'a Filo, OG- Would be a great value pick and with the horrid guard play we had last year it would make a world of difference. Texans are drafting to combat Luck, we should draft to protect him.

-Lamarcus Joyner, CB/S-Would be able to play both CB and Safety and he's just a playmaker. This is my dream pick at 59. I love his instincts and the way he plays the game but the size sure is a bit smaller than what I would want. Personally I'd play him at Safety and pair him up with Landry like the seahawks paired small Earl Thomas and big Kam Chancellor.

-Marcus Martin, C-Hits a position of need no matter what our coaches and fans think of Khaled. Martin is the #1 center in the draft and for good reason. He seems to give up on some plays but that can be fixed with the right coaching. I also think Chuck really likes this kid. I wouldn't be surprised if we pulled the trigger.

-Demarcus Lawrence or Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB-We need more pass rush. If Mathis wasn't a freak of nature this would be even more evident but he has been doing it all himself. This wouldn't be a popular pick in Indianapolis since we just picked Bjoern last year but you can never have too many pass rushers in today's NFL.

    3rd round:

-Dion Bailey, S or Brock Vereen, S-If we don't go safety in the 2nd round I can easily see us picking one in the 3rd. Dion Bailey just made the switch to safety a year ago and really came on. He's versatile and has good instincts and ball skills. Brock Vereen comes from a football family, he's durable(started in all games in 3 years) but his ball skills aren't near as good as Bailey's but he's very smart and studies hard, could fit in really well with our Locker room.

-Gabe Jackson, OG-I know he's projected all over the place in the 2nd and 3rd so I put him here. For same reason as Xavier in the 1st, it would be great value and would instantly make our O-line better. O-line is boring in the draft but it is critical to a team's success.

-Bruce Ellington, WR-This is my wildcard pick and sure it's influenced by me being a USC fan(the real USC aka South Carolina) but the kid can play. He constantly made plays the entire time I've been here at USC and has been the safety blanket for Connor Shaw. He even won the bowl game this year single-handedly, even throwing for a TD in the game to go along with his 2 receiving ones. He's a dual-sport athlete and played basketball as well as football. He's got a knack for making plays and getting into the end zone and would be a great pick here. In other years he would be a 1st or 2nd round prospect, this year we can get another steal at WR in the 3rd like we did with T.Y. I have said all along that we don't need a WR but this one in 3rd round would be extremely hard to pass up.

Sure there are other options that I like but these are my preferred ones.

  4. I may continue this over the weekend with rounds 2-7, but I put this together and figured I'd post it somewhere. Not every pick is perfect but I think it fills many of the team's needs in the first round.

    1. Houston Texans-Jadaveon Clowney, DE/OLB
    2. St. Louis Rams (from Washington Redskins)-Greg Robinson, OT
    3. Jacksonville Jaguars-Sammy Watkins, WR
    4. Cleveland Browns-Johnny Manziel, QB
    5. Oakland Raiders-Teddy Bridgewater, QB
    6. Atlanta Falcons-Khalil Mack, DE/OLB
    7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Aaron Donald, DT
    8. Minnesota Vikings-Blake Bortles, QB
    9. Buffalo Bills-Taylor Lewan, OT
    10. Detroit Lions-Anthony Barr, OLB
    11. Tennessee Titans-Justin Gilbert, CB
    12. New York Giants-Erik Ebron, TE
    13. St. Louis Rams-Mike Evans, WR
    14. Chicago Bears-Kyle Fuller, CB
    15. Pittsburgh Steelers-JeWuan James, OT
    16. Dallas Cowboys-Ra'shede Hageman, DE/DT

    17. Baltimore Ravens-Calvin Pryor, S
    18. New York Jets-Kelvin Benjamin, WR
    19. Miami Dolphins-Zack Martin, OG
    20. Arizona Cardinals-Derek Carr, QB
    21. Green Bay Packers-Jason Verett, CB
    22. Philadelphia Eagles-Allen Robinson, WR
    23. Kansas City Chiefs-Marqise Lee, WR
    24. Cincinnati Bengals-Ryan Shazier, LB
    25. San Diego Chargers-Brandon Cooks, WR
    26. Cleveland Browns (from Indianapolis Colts)- Cody Latimer, WR
    27. New Orleans Saints-Darqueze Dennard, CB
    28. Carolina Panthers-Odell Beckham, WR
    29. New England Patriots-Louis Nix, DT
    30. San Francisco 49ers-Martavis Bryant, WR
    31. Denver Broncos-Chris Borland, LB
    32. Seattle Seahawks-Xavier Su'a Fila, OG

-I think it's very likely that Houston moves out of the #1 and doesn't take Clowney. I can see many teams such as Buffalo or Atlanta making the move up when the clock starts to roll.

-Many WRs and CBs off the board, but only 2 safeties. I'm hoping for this as the Colts would have a real shot of grabbing Jimmie Ward or Deone Bucannon. Safety is a big hole in our team and it must be addressed early. I can also see a CB being that #2 pick but in this situation I would definitely say Safety.

-Texans/Jags wait till 2nd round to pick up their respective QBs but I can easily see one of the teams moving back and gather some more picks.

  5. Don't underestimate Clowney. The man is a freak and when he tries/gives full effort, he's a dominant football player, he can take over a game(watch the Michigan vs USC bowl game when he had "The Hit"). With the right coaching and support he could be a HoF caliber player, no doubt in my mind. It's just a matter of if he really wants to be great and not just be good/get paid.

At the very least Houston would be getting an above average pass-rusher. 75% of Clowney is better than 100% of other players. I'm certainly hoping that they don't take Clowney.

  6. Maybe he HAS gone after him and the asking price is too high?

    OR....

Maybe he has inquired and the medical staff doesn't like the look of the guys knee?

It's not like Grigson is the only GM not buying this guy?   It look like 31 other GM's aren't as well....

    Just some food for thought......

I concur. No one really knows what the medical status of that knee is and it could be very risky to put him back on the field. We may not know for a while either. Could also be the asking price, but I highly doubt he's asking for too much coming off such a big injury. I feel for the guy though since he got tagged last year and got injured. That's why some players hate the franchise tag, even if they do get paid a good bit for that 1 year, it's a huge risk.

  7. Would be nice to have Dareus in a Colts uniform. I like Castonzo too though, Couldn't imagine our O-line without him...*shutters*.

Personally I would take Patrick Peterson over Richard Sherman. You can't go wrong either way but I like the punt/kick return possibility with Patrick and he doesn't talk as much as Sherman.

  8. Spencer, I can't believe Grigs hasn't gone after him yet. Maybe he's seeing what he can get in draft and sign him after, but I have a feeling someone will pick him up before that. The worst that happens is the man can't play or gets hurt and he gets benched or cut. Just sign him to a 1-year prove-it deal. If Spencer wants to play, give him a chance.

  9. He made the pro bowl for the Jets the year before last. Couldn't imagine him bulking up much more when he played for the Colts. It seems as he was playing out of position @ FS, would love the Colts to get somewhat of a ball hawking FS then move Landry back to SS. I think that could make a pretty big diff hopefully, IMO.

I agree completely. The colts need to get a true ball hawk FS and not rotate them anymore. I know Manusky likes swapping them but it's too much of a liability with Landry in coverage. We have our Kam Chancellor, now go get our Earl Thomas is the draft.

    ....... uh-oh, wrong thread :peek:

    I spit hot fire!

    But my top 5:

    1) New England Patriots-I hate these guys and want to see Luck&Co get revenge from playoffs.

    2) Denver Broncos-Best friend is a broncos fan and oh yeah, PFM.

    3) Washington Redskins-Want to see Luck beat the guy that was drafted after him. Plus I will be going with my redskins fan for this game, been planning on it since Luck/RG3 were drafted.

    4) Cincinnati Bengals-Would like to see us beat the bengals since my bengals friend has consistently seen his team beat the Colts the past few years.

    5) Dallas Cowboys-Least favorite team in the NFL and would love to see our boys beat the cow"girls".

    Honorable Mention:

Baltimore Ravens-With Chuck, Redding, and now Arthur Jones this will be an interesting game. There are many players on that team that played with and speak great about Chuck. I also want revenge for Luck's first playoff game.

  11. OP and others that agree, who exactly do you want us to go after right now? There's very few options at the positions we need and I think we have started to spend most of our time focusing on draft. Grigson said he would spend smart this offseason and with how much we have spent already, I just don't see many FA moves in the near future.

I personally think Grigs is highly considering moving up in the draft this year to snag a talented safety and/or center. I would love to see Calvin Pryor or Ha-ha clinton dix in a Colts uniform next season.

  12. One of the best shutdown corners to have ever played the game will not accept a (even near) vet min contract to compete for a startng job at safety, for Luck or even Peyton Manning. If he doesn't get at least a decent paycheck and earn at least a starting corner job, he might call it quits too.  I'll get salt out if he takes near min pay and/or settles for a backup CB spot, let alone safety. Move along folks... nothing to see here.

haha it was more of a dream than anything. Guess I'll stick to Champ in a Colts Jersey on ESPN 2k5.

  13. I think we could be #1/#2, we just don't know what to expect out of the injured guys. Our Offense will be dynamic as long as we have Luck. If we have a healthy Reggie, Nicks, Allen, Ballard, Bradshaw...watch out NFL.

  14. Here's the thing. I think they all have great potential and that's what you should do at the end of your roster. Grigson definitely understands that more than anyone else. We just don't know if/when they will get their shot.

Adongo-Still learning the ropes but has seen a little special teams action. I figure he will continue working there but with Mathis/Bjoern ahead of him, just don't think he will get much of a shot at OLB barring injury. He may be able to take over for Walden on some players, but I think our coaches want him rushing passer more than setting the edge.

Muamba-I thought he would have his chance to compete against McNary for the starting 2nd ILB spot. However, now that we have D'Qwell I see that competition being more meaningful to stay on the team rather than a starting spot. We will have to wait till training camp to see what happens in this spot.

Cam Johnson-He will continue to play ST much like Adongo and will have to make a name for himself in camp. 49ers fans were mad when they let him go and I'd like to see him on the field but Mathis/Bjoern will be taking the high majority of those.

Our LBer corp is completely set. I would be shocked to see us draft another one in the draft, whether that's ILB or OLB. I guess you could argue we could still use a pass rusher at OLB, but that would require us to let go of or at least downgrade one of the others(Adongo/Johnson) to PS.

Man I'm going to hate these next 2 months before draft...

  15. I just think he wants out of dallas and its not about the money. hes made plenty. ware at this stage of his career wants to win

Is that what he told you?

I think players care more about winning then a lot of fans think. Many players would take less money to go to a winning team, especially after being with a team that has lost 3 "Win or Go home" week 17 games in a row. Losing sucks.

  16. I have no prob him playing for us. But I'm not a "homer" to the extent of loving his act just because and solely because he's a Colt. He seems like the kind of guy that will try and get a laugh no matter what, even at the expense of making fun  or insulting some1 like he did 2day when the host mentioned Jeff Garcia he said "his beautiful bald head".

We aren't "homers". Pat is hilarious but if you think otherwise then you're entitled to your opinion. 99.9% of these forums and the city of Indianapolis will disagree with you though. I'm sure Jeff Garcia laughed about that comment, maybe you're just upset because you are bald?
