he was bad last year, thats all they are going by here
i dont agree where they said he was solid as a rookie, he played like a pro bowler that year he just didnt get votes on an 8-8 small market team
He wasn't bad he just stayed hurt

I am all for speed. But to be fair, the Saints' defense in 2009 integrated a lot of 3-4.
They had to they were blitzing like crazy then plus their corners weren't all that either
-
Atleast give TY a 91 his speed alone is crazy and I'm glad sheard is getting the respect he deserves

Nice read, but I feel like no one talks about fountain. The way he attacks the ball reminds me of hopkins
He can catch the ball for sure but he doesn't get much separation from the cornerback he has to improve on that

I don't know about moore.....he's no good on the outside....he seems alright in the slot maybe I haven't seen enough of him playing hopefully that will change
-
He was awesome with the corner blitzes

As you see, I am saying he is the one that should be ok......
BUT....
CAN be a difference maker and actually BEING a difference maker are 2 differnt things
I think you would agree, that the CB spot, even with Wilson starting is a question (and thin) at best.... right?
I hope it works...... but in a league that is a passing league these days, having ONE CB that could be able to start on another team, where injuries are common, is risky at best.
It's questionable but not as bad as some may think it is....me personally I think wilson is a difference maker on this defense but we shall see

I respectfully disagree with the state of the DBs. Again....... respectfully..... from what I have seen you are an intelligent poster
The thing is....... we all know that we will go through part of this year with one or more
of these folks will be injured.
IT JUST SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO THE COLTS
if it were me, there is NO WAY, that i am going in to the season with these DBs alone.
Safety spot
I have very little trust in the abilty of Geathers to stay on the field......... history says that he gets hurt
The coaches are hopeful that Malik can come back 100% by season start......... hopeful
WHY NOT actually sign Boston (vs letting him come here to play bb) or a "non-kneeling" Ried??????
CBs spot
From my view we have ONE starter at CB, with no real competition in the group. 2 of the 3 could not start for 80% of the league. the 3 arent proven by a long shot.
Quincy has a bit of a headcase.......... I think he will do ok, but when you see that he couldnt make it to the field last year on a poor db group........ we shouldnt have 100% trust .... and he is our "fo sure" starter
Many of the defensive packages require 3 CBs......... what do we do when one (or two) goes down for a stretch
(it will happen)
WHY NOT offer Breeland a 2 year deal?
IMHO I am excited as we have improved or built a solid, group of WRs, OL, DL, TEs, RBs, QB
......... we are WEAK at DBs and LBs
Step 1 - Move John Simon to SSLB - Today!
Step 2 - Sign Breeland
Step 3 - Sign Reid (or Boston)
IMHO... these 3 steps, with Luck being healthy make this team a top5 AFC team, with a shot to win a playoff game
We a starting on a week long drive accross the country with 3 bald tires.......
I HOPE its ok....... but sheeze
We have cash falling out of our wallet, and coupons for Goodyear......
why not stop and get some dang tires???
We have a BOATLOAD of available cash......... Why not use 10-20% of it??????
rant off......
Wilson didn't make the field that much last season because chuck and Ted thought it was a good idea to sit him since he wasn't "mature enough" smh....which was dumb to do anyway but when he was on the field he showed he can be a difference maker on the defense

Yeah I would hope Ballard always accounts for stopping the run as well, so having at least 1 big body at DT who is great at both stopping the run and getting to the passer would greatly help.
We don't want a super light defense where we get gashed in the ground game all over again.
Al woods is gonna be the big body to fill the gaps up

So desir had had worse grade last season than 2016

Turay is fast coming off that line can't wait to see him in action

Moore would be better as the MLB because his coverage skills are good just need to work on his run support

Nah. First of all, Ballard has openly discussed the folly of needs-based drafting himself.
Second, the problem we've had is poor talent evaluation. Grigson's worst draft pick, IMO -- Werner -- was probably a needs-based pick, when Xavier Rhodes was a better prospect.
True but he made some nice picks last year based needs for example....quincy wilson probably the best corner in the 2nd round and malik hooker but I'm not just talking about it grigson....polian made some bad draft decisions too

I disagree with this approach to building a roster, for several reasons.
First, I disagree with needs-based drafting. It's a great way to miss out on great players, and still wind up with needs all over the place. I believe the draft is for grabbing the best players you can who fit your team well, and you use the other methods of player acquisition to supplement and round out your roster. This is how you build a roster with 10-12 really good to great players, another 15 really good role players, and a continual pipeline of homegrown talent to replace the players who leave, retire, etc. Roster mechanics aren't on my mind on draft day.
Second, teams around the league will change every year. (For instance, the Jags had a great DL last year, but Campbell had a career year at 31 years old, and Jackson had a career year as well. It's time for a regression from the Jags DL, and if it's not this year, it will be next year, but it's coming.) I don't think you draft to combat other teams. Back to point one, take the best players you can.
Third, yes, someone has to block for Luck, and I agree that it's super important. But there are good interior OL in free agency every year. We could have signed one or two guards who would play at a high level this season if we wanted. It's not accurate to suggest that the only option we had was to draft Nelson or subject Luck to more bad OL play. (I also think there's a lot the coaching staff can/will do to protect the QB, no matter who's playing OL.)
Related to the previous point, while there are good OL in free agency every year, there are almost never good edge rushers in free agency. This speaks to positional value. If you want someone like Chubb -- who I think would have been the perfect pick at #3 -- you basically have to draft him, bottom line.
I'm a strong believer in positional value, and there are a lot of variables, but let's not make this into 'we have to protect Luck.' You can't have this hyper focus on one need in the draft.
Ballard is gonna prove alot of ya'll wrong with this way of thinking....we been missing out on position needs for years on the draft especially on defense and it showed every season

Nelson pick gets an A+ without a doubt
-
I'm not surprised at matt jones getting waived

That stiff arm he gave to clowney makes it that much better

I loved Anderson. I hope he is awesome for the Bills. At the same time, I'm exited about a faster defense. No more clunky linebackers struggling in space, and waves of fast defenders attacking the gaps. For those who question a drastic scheme change, it is not like we were a piece away from making the 3-4 work. Now was the perfect time to make the switch. Overall, I felt this draft was offense heavy, and with our picks the Oline got nastier, our running backs got faster, and we increased our speed overall. I'm going to like a faster offense and defense. We will be more aggressive on both sides. Best of luck to you Henry.
He was traded to the jets

Nice but I don't know if the nfl refs will allow that they might call unsportsmanlike conduct
-
Skai moore is good in coverage but not that good in run support
-
Yeah he wasn't going to fit the new scheme I wish him well tho
