  1. Here's what I think.

He told us what he's going to do, or at least expecting to do.

    He said:

    • "We're gonna trade back (three times)"
    • He loves the OL in the class. (yes, he said you could get one in round three, BUT I expect one higher)

Asked about weapons for a young QB:

    He said,

    • "protect them. block; keep them safe."
    • Look at all the teams in the playoffs, they can protect.
    • "Andrew used to tell me, "just block for me; I'll do the rest"
    • "Do they want a superstar receiver? YES, but block for me; keep em blocked."

Oh yeah, and there's a corollary to that. There are two ways to beat a great QB (offense); one is pass defend, but the other is sacking and disrupting.

So, I'm guessing we trade back in the first for more picks; we are just as likely to pick an early round OL, DL as we are a CB or WR.

and with that, I hope we end up with Brock Bowers :)

I'll admit, I was 4 when Manning was drafted, so I don't remember the draft itself, but wasn't he almost universally considered to be the best QB prospect since Elway?

No. He was considered a potentially A+, but a lot of draft experts doubted his arm strength and wondered if he was too "robotic." A LOT of the experts loved Ryan Leaf. Bigger arm, bigger physically. Some said he'd be a better version of Terry Bradshaw. Colts have later denied this, but I think they made their mind up at the combine when Leaf blew off his interview with Polian et al...

  3. We definitely need another LB. Wouldn't be surprised to see a second or third rounder go there.

With the questions on Jelani Woods and the very real possibility that Drew Ogletree won't be back, I don't think we'll get rid of Mo-Allie Cox. I think I'd love it if we were able to get Cade Stover from Ohio State in the third or fourth.

And I think right now the chances are good we'll trade back.

The wild cards are if someone unexpected slides to 15 --- Brock Bowers, Nabor, maybe even Jared Verse...

I believe you are setting yourself up for disappointment yet again.

Ballard has signed big guys to big contracts. It's just mostly been our guys. Quentin Nelson, Shaq (and he would have made the HOF if he didn't get hurt), JT, Phillip Rivers, Matt Ryan. And he's stretched for big trades, Deforest Buckner (who he also extended with a big contract) and even alas, Carson Wentz.

This year he's got to spend money --- or lose --- big FAs. Pittman, Grover, Kenny Moore...

You really think this team is garbage.  One more win than last year.  Only one win away from home.  When Peyton joined the Colts the roster was horrible.  This roster is far from horrible.   You and the others can expect mediocrity if you want.  I’m not going too.  The AFC South is not a powerhouse division.  We clearly have a better roster than Houston or Tennessee.  The Jags have a 1st place schedule now.  Let’s see how that plays out.  All teams have turnover too and many times not for the best.  That said I actually think our roster has improved over last years.  No old quarterbacks with cement in their shoes.  I think our OL will improve over last years.  That shouldn’t be too hard to do.  JT is back and Leonard as well.  New FG kicker and Sanchez returns.  Gus returns with a strong defense.  This team is not garbage.  This team should be a lot better than 5 or 6 wins.   Even with a rookie quarterback.  Not just any rookie quarterback but we have AR5.  The best quarterback in the draft right?

That's not true about the roster when Peyton came on.

At least not on offense. He joined a team with bookend tackles --- Tarik Glenn and Adam Meadows --- Marvin Harrison, Marshall Faulk, Marcus Pollard. pretty good team. And we still had growing pains. So I wouldn't expect a winning season next year. Lots of work to do...

  6. He looks pretty damn good to me. Don't know if the multiple-move routes will work as well in the pros, but man. He's quick, he gets open, he catches the ball and he's tough as hell. I saw him take a couple of HUGE shots over the middle in his tapes. Got back up. He's also very feisty.

He doesn't seem to have the ultimate take-the-top off speed to be a TD threat on every catch, BUT... he looks good to me.

This offence needs a vertical burner. U have Downs and the tight ends. Pierce is pretty fast and great at 5o 50 balls.?However, still need a burner who teams need to respect. Can't stack the box.

I like Tyler Scott from cindy but I don't know if we'll draft 2 WR.

    He can get deep

  8. I hope I'm totally wrong about this. He seems like a really nice kid. But I just watched game vids from him playing against TCU and Baylor and dang, he's a pass interference waiting to happen maybe he'll be OK in zone. I know he's tall an long and a big hitter... he also is a 4.53 guy at corner. Don't know. Like I said I hope I'm way off base

  9. Yeah. I think Flowers will be gone before 35.

Also, there should be a lot of good, "coulda been a first rounder" players. One I like is the LB/Micah Parsons like rusher from Arkansas. Drew Sanders. Outside of scoring TDs, we need more guys who can put heat on the opposing QB. He's a very good rusher. Just not sure he fits Bradley's defensive scheme. But having Sanders would also help our LB unit. We've lost some dudes. I do think Jojo Domann will make steps this year...

Yes, you would have to pay Fields sooner. The trade off would be possibly skipping the two years that it typically takes a drafted QB to develop. We know that Fields can play on the NFL level. We don't know this about any of the draftees yet. If you draft a QB and then after 2-3 years you realize he is a miss, then you will be back to square one again.

hear what you're sayin, but some would argue that Fields really hasn't developed THAT much at this point. He played well this year, but still has a lot of work to do as a passer, I think.
