  1. Not really. It was a bad day. The team is still 6-3 and on top of the division

I just wanted to say 'as of thus far' to be honest. It's kinda like 'hence the reason why'.

I'm not panicking. That was a thoroughly woeful performance but it was just one game and, like you said, we're still in a very good position.

It worries me that the same mistakes were made again tonight though. We're not seeing anything new, it's just the Rams capitalized more and we couldn't get anything going to come back this time.

  2. After reading your comment, I went back studied some video of those comeback games, did some research on the tactics used by those other teams, and made a startling discovery. Those other teams were actually using PAID PROFESSIONALS against us! They've been hiring what amount to mercenaries, and telling them to go out there and keep our guys from scoring. And some of them are even being paid outlandish amounts of money to do it! The league needs to look into this practice and put a stop to it at once!

So no team will ever score a point or win a game because they're all paid to stop their opponents from doing so?

    Okaaayyy....

  3. I'd go with Ellington. Based on how Richardson got yards with catches, if Ellington catches some of those, he could do more damage than Trent did, IMO.

Besides, Baltimore playing Cincinnati, with their O-line issues, Bengals' D is still good enough with Leon Hall down to generate enough push against a banged up Ravens' O-line.

    Two for Ellington then.

Just witched him back in for 4th (at least) time!  :jump:

    Cheers!

  4. Or maybe, in sports, where skill, effort and luck combine to determine the outcome, some teams play well on the day, but are just not good enough to do it consistently? I've played many sports over the years, and had good days and bad. NEVER have my bad days been because of complacency. I take your 'plausible, and raise it to 'codswallop'...

    Sure, that happens sometimes.

But I very much doubt that you have put 100% effort and concentration into every single sports game you've ever played. And I very much doubt these guys do too. Whether they're paid to or not.

  5. Trap Game: A mystical concept invented by fans who think teams don't prepare or try as hard against a higher rated team than they would do against a lower rated team.

I'd love to understand where the 'line' is, that separates both categories. Or do we have 'trap', maybe/maybe not trap, and non trap games? But just where is that line drawn.

    All a bunch of baloney.

Doesn't the trap element lie with the higher rated team? I.e. they won't try as hard against the lower rated team?

Complacency exists. As does over-confidence. They're not  "mystical concepts" or a "bunch of baloney". They're phenomena that can be observed relatively regularly in professional sports. Just look what happened last weekend when the Bucs came out and shocked the Seahawks.

It's perfectly plausible to assume that a team would go into a game against lower rated opposition and think that they can be easily brushed aside.

  6. Titans are not trap games. Colts have to win both or the Titans still have a realistic shot at winning the division. They are the most important games on the schedule right now.

    Agree with this.

The Titans are actually looking decent (at least) this season and next week's game is HUGE!

I'm looking forward to it already.

  7. I think if the media doesn't bow down to the great and mighty Colts this forum jumps at any excuse to cry "Foul". It was a joke...a funny one because Griff doesn't have that "Football look"...there are many others you could say that about and by no means does that mean they can't ball out. If he was making comments about Trindon Holliday it probably would have been something about his demunitive stature and Cutler would have been something about him and feminine products implying he is a....you catch my drift. I believe people should chill....omg...a comedian being a comedian lol....whats next...

I'm not positive, but I think Fallon has done this before every SNF game.

A few of his comments are somewhat funny, but I find most of them to be just plain dumb.

But, it's not like he is picking on any one player or team.

Here are his superlatives prior to the Patriots/Falcons game and the Cowboys/Redskins game:

I think the OP was more concerned with the subject of the joke, rather than the fact that a joke was being made.
