  1. Suspend all or suspend none. Unless the player is being paid to be a 'leader,' in a role that is contractually different from the other 50+ players in the locker-room, that title is meaningless when it comes to a persons career as an employee. I can be a 'leader,' at work by being a veteran employee, and setting a good example, and helping the new guys, but I am not contractually different than them. There has been no evidence brought forth that separates these players from the rest.

Only suspending the leaders of the whole thing is the only way because the other option is to suspend everyone because so far I haven't seen evidence of anyone on the defense being totally clean. In my mind if they try to get everyone, none of the punishments will stand up in court and even though other teams have probably done it also, it's time to stop it once and for all.
  2. The earliest either side can begin to renegotiate is after year 3, if my memory serves me correctly. The team does have a year 5 option, but it pays at the average of the top 5 QB's which will easily be 18-20+ at that point in time.

It slipped my mind, obviously I'm having a bad day too!
  3. 18 - 11 = 7

    10 - 2 = 8

7 and 8 are pretty close. Point being the Patriots were a better team than the Colts but suffered an almost identical drop off without their star QB. Don't kid yourself. 30 teams would jump at the chance to get Brady maybe a few less because of age. This is what embarrasses me about some of my fellow Colts fans. Brady is one of the greatest players in history but some of us can't get by the Patriot hate to appreciate it.

I don't know what years you are referring to but in 2008 when Tom Brady hurt his knee they went 11-5, the previous year they were 16-0.

You are right that the Patriots were a better team but Brady getting hurt proves he wasn't indispensable to the Patriots and was easily replaced, I admit most teams would love to have him but hate isn't it when the record shows he wasn't missed much. The Colts found out how much better Manning was when the team couldn't manage wins without him and lost 13 which is nowhere close to the 5 game drop off the Patriots had.

  4. Injured Brady - The Patriots lost seven more games than the previous season and missed the playoffs instead of going to a SB.

The Patriots finished 11-5 so they lost 5 more games than the previous season and were the first team in playoff history to miss the playoffs with that record. No hate, Tom Brady is replaceable and the wins keep coming, not so with Peyton Manning.
  5. The whole talk about him not being Elite or anything less then elite is absolute nonsense, He is one of the best, hes got 2 Super Bowl rings, he was tied for 6th in the league in touchdowns passes this year, he was 4th the year before with 31, 9th before that. besides how many quarterbacks playing today would you want to lead your team on a last minute drive to win the game before him? Peyton, Brady, Brees, who else?

Yes, he seems to have the ability to win the big one because the combined record of both of the Giants Super Bowl seasons is 18-14 and just proves an good team with a good quarterback can come out on top. Besides, Dan Marino has volumes of records in the books and not one ring so in my opinion Eli is not elite he is just with the right team at the right time.
  6. Idk, that fresh mountain air does wonders to the mind and body, white christmas', small city, pine trees and aspens, some fresh rained on sage brush.. ah, pretty relaxing.

He will always have a link to Indy, but if he gets comfy in Denver, he may stay and help Elway.

He will be remembered as a Colt because of the effect he had on pro football.....and Tom Brady. Magic and Bird took the NBA to new heights and when Peyton came to Indianapolis it happened for the NFL.

It was Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning and it was THE game that no one missed.

When they played, they took it to the next level and football became America's most popular sport.

Peyton Manning will always be remembered wearing a horseshoe on his hat, not a horse.

  7. Because the last three years are 8-8, 10-6, 9-7

Those are not great numbers for top flight quarterbacks so while he is a good one, he's not a great one....unless he gets another ring after yet another mediocre season. Then the Giants will be remembered as a great TEAM with good players.

  8. writing "i hate the patriots" would have been more honest. i dislike the patriots too, but there has never been a player in nfl history that is 2x better than tom brady.

I don't know about that, I'm thinking it's more of Belichick picking a great team. After all the Pats did just fine without Tom a few years back so put him on pretty much any other team he wouldn't have done nearly as well.
  9. LOL at Roethlisberger being 20 spots ahead of Peyton.

Peyton was #8 on the All Time Greatest list two years ago so dropping to #50 without taking a single snap isn't a big deal. Ben Roethlisberger couldn't carry Peyton Mannings jockstrap without help.
  10. Wow I'd like to know a little more about this. I'm from Valparaiso and I'd love to go. It's at LaPorte High School? Do you know what time? What exactly is it?

All the details are on the Colts web site, I found it under "community" but it's from 5-7 on Friday and it's a few players, some cheerleaders, etc and they have lots of activities and displays.
  11. It's hard to deny Peyton Manning is the favorite Colt after 10 great years when you saw him bring the team back in the 4th quarter time after time. When you could almost turn on your TV anytime and see him in a commercial or guesting on a show, when you couldn't turn on a radio or open a paper to look for sports and not see or hear another factoid or tidbit about him.

For 10 years he was one of if not the most talked about sports figure in the United States so it's safe to assume that no matter whom you put him against, he would win. Now that his presence has faded from the Indianapolis skyline, his popularity is waning but I firmly believe that when the day comes for him to retire, he will do so as a Colt as it should be.
