  1. I’m sure some will be shocked at Pearsall in the first but the guy is a very good football player. It’s a good pick for the 49ers.
  2. If it can’t sustain… I think that concern was just addressed. With a new and revered d-line coach and a high level pass rusher that will be on the field often from the start, this defensive line will bring pressure. If the back end improves (and it should just from an offseason growth standpoint, let alone any further additions from here) the defensive line could elevate big time from a pressure standpoint.
  3. In the words of bill bellichick, no disrespect to the secondary, but if the qb can’t get the ball out, you don’t have to cover as long… Bring. the. heat. many on here said the pressure from the d-line wasn’t good enough in spite of a record breaking sack year… said it wouldn’t sustain without the pressure. Well, we will find out…
  4. they are working for it, without a doubt. Charlie Partridge is salivating right now.
  5. this commentary from Bellichick is good stuff. when you play in a dome, and especially get ahead, that crowd noise with explosive players on defense is hard to block. No disrespect to the secondary but when a qb can’t get the ball out, you don’t have to cover for very long…
  6. 🤷‍♂️ idk if it’s a bad thing we potentially get the 1st defensive player at pick 15… this is insane.
  7. Yeah- and if he has success trading up this draft with a major offensive weapon like Odunze or Bowers- his two main trade ups will be in that player and JT. Could really alter his thinking moving forward.
  8. I don’t expect it. If they do take one, maybe it’s because they play on utilizing him differently, so I won’t be upset. I just don’t think it’s going to happen. I might be less shocked with a tackle drafted tonight honestly.
  9. for somebody who didn’t want to argue with it and claims to have written a finality on it, you sure won’t let it go Doug…
  10. There’s been a lot of comments made by Ballard lately that they are always planning a few years out, while the coach is pushing for players that can help now. So it’s a balance. He’s made comments that the goal is to protect and provide weapons for AR. The talent at the top of the draft seems like there could be a couple really good offensive lineman falling down to us, with a run on receivers and skill players. I don’t necessarily see that, I think there could be a run on qbs, tackles, and pass rushers with the obvious 3 receivers before we pick. That could potentially push all corners, as well as Bowers down to 15. But say, both corners and Bowers go top 15, who does that push out? Most likely a talented tackle. They can either trade back or take the highest rated player on the board, which would provide swing tackle depth, and a plan for if Smith is injured/isnt re-signed following 2025. Some are speculating it might be best to move Smith to guard in that scenario.
  11. I can too. And that will tell us everything we need to know about how the view him. It will tell us their feelings on the tight end room, and what direction they pick from there will tell us even more. but if they take him at 15, we won’t know much about what might have happened, as they will be landing someone they had rated highly and fell to them.
  12. I’ve thought it was the need all along. I incorrectly got my hopes up that we’d target one of the free agents so that we were going into this draft with the ability to feel confident about luxury picks and true bpa’s. That didn’t even remotely come close to happening. So I’m with you on that…
  13. I don’t disagree. But if the scouting department and Shane Steichen see Bowers as far better than the receiver options and he’s right there dangling in our faces, I’m not sure I see a better option, realistically. If they don’t value him like I would think they do… then I would prefer them to trade down and draft a receiver/add picks (to draft a defensive back later on)
  14. see my last comment while you were writing this… i don’t view it the same way you do. CB is a need… I don’t believe it is THE need. I think safety is more of a need, quite frankly. But neither of them should be in front of adding weapons for this offense.
  15. I don’t know about very good. That’s dependent on a tight end that is looking like a bust. Offense needs weapons. in the same breath, I can make the argument that flowers might end up in the same boat, so corner is certainly a position of need. I just don’t know about passing up premier pass catchers in the first when there will be opportunities throughout for solid cornerback play. So I do understand, I just don’t value it as highly.
  16. @ChuggaBeer So the equation looks like Woods+ Bowers > anything you can put with Q Mitchell’s name on it
  17. you also realize they are two totally different tight ends right? As in, they would both be on the field (if woods can stay on it) at the same time, quite often.
  18. But especially those who have done nothing but stay there… you stop it
  19. Quinyon Mitchell and Jelani woods on IR again is not even remotely close….
