  1. Seems like an attitude problem that we do not need on our team. It would be bad on a solid team, let alone, a team that is rebuilding. I would take my cues from Dan Snyder. If that guy wants a player, we DON'T want him. Take a look at the Redskins the past decade. The only thing Snyder has done effectively, is take a crap on his team. Every decision has blown up in his face. I say let them have RG3 and be mediocre to sub-par for another 4 to 5 years.

  2. you are forgetting that if we had Hayden right now, he would be better than any CB we have at this point.

    beggers can't be choosers.

P.S. yes, he is better than Powers

He may have BEEN better than Powers. With a neck fusion and an inability to stay healthy, I will take the cheaper player. We cut the best player on our team because of neck fusion surgery and age. Why in God's name would we bring in another neck-issue on a bloated contract?

  3. He is too expensive! End of discussion. It has been said over, and over; we need to restructure, trade, or cut. Trading and cutting are the most viable at this point. With his age, we have seen the best he has to offer. Restructuring and holding on longer will not help us in the long run. We need the $14 Million, more than we need him. $14 Million can get us Asante Samuel, a NT, plus a couple of players for depth needs.

I thank him for his service, but it is time to move on. If we can part from one of the best QB's who ever played, we can say goodbye to an aging DE.

  4. We all need to be realistic. Brown, Carter, and Evans may be what we have this year. The cap room is only big enough for so much. RB's in this league are a dime a dozen, with the exception of about 3. With a FB in front of them, all 3 will be acceptable, and reasonably priced.

  5. According to Irsay's latest tweet. The coaches are in the air to Stanford to see "you know who." The writing is on the wall. The same statements were being made in 1998 when we were choosing between Manning and Leaf. There was back and forth. The media was making Leaf the "sexier" pick. Luck will be the choice. We did not cut the face of the franshice to sign RG3. Andrew Luck is our man and has been all along. I go to a car lot, knowing what I want, but I still look at other cars. Same thing here.

  6. The NT situation is paralleled with Dallas Clark. The longer Clark goes, the cheaper his next contract will be. If we are pinching pennies, as our Cap estimates show, we maybe holding on for a more favorable contract with a big NT. If we can drive the cost down AND get the NT we need, it will show even more that Grigson knows what he is doing.

A lot can happen between now and the draft.

  7. Avery has 3 catches in the last two seasons.. He is a major down grade from Garcon

That isn't reality. Avery had 3 catches last year, in an injury hampered season, with Hasselbeck and Locker as his Quarterbacks. He had 47 catches in 2010, Sam Bradford's rookie season. He had 53 catches in 2009, his rookie season, with Buldger getting IR'ed and the team lacking a real QB.

Pierre's numbers are just marginally better based on four seasons, three of which were with Peyton at the helm.

    Donnie Avery - GP = 39, RC = 103, YDS = 1308, AVG = 12.7, FUM = 1, LOST = 1

    Pierre Garcon - GP = 58, RC = 188, YDS = 2519, AVG = 13.4, FUM = 3, LOST = 2

At the price we signed him, Avery is a tremendous solution. Pierre's numbers do not add up to the contract he just signed.

  8. Our O-Line is going to surprise people. We have some big fellas there. Castonzo is going to be as solid as they come and Ijalana is going to have something he wants to prove.

QB will be addressed in about a month, so will the TE. I will miss Dallas, but his laundry list of injuries has caught up with him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him retire.

Do not forget that we signed Donnie Avery to replace Pierre Garcon. He is faster and has better hands, but needs to stay healthy.

I would say the next big signing will be a NT. Maybe Solari from Miami. If we sign another OLB, say goodbye to Freeney.

  9. The fact is, none of us know what they are going to play like. We can only look at what they have done to improve. I look at 5 things.

    1. People have complained for years, and even during the Super Bowl winning season, that we cannot run the ball consistantly. This has been addressed. Castanzo - 6'7" 311 lbs., McGlynn - 6'5" 318 lbs., Satele - 6'2" 300 lbs., Ijalana - 6'4" 317 lbs., Justice - 6'6" 320 lbs. With a front five of this size, we should be able to adequately pass block, but also their combined athleticism and size should create several good running lanes. If they can use their bodies properly, we could have the slowest running back in the league and average better that 4.2 ypc.

    2. People always complained that Peyton was immobile. To an extent, that is true. He had a 4.8 40-yard dash at his combine. That certainly didn't get better with age. Andrew Luck had a solid 4.67 40-yard dash officially, and a 4.59 unofficially. He is used to being mobile. So, we pick up a QB that is mobile and 14 years younger.

    3. Pierre Garcon has been the fastest WR we have had on our roster in a very long-time, a 4.48 40-yard dash. The problem was he dropped easy catches and made tough catches. Donnie Avery, when healthy, is more sure handed and had a blistering 4.2 40-yard dash time. This is the pick-up that is most exciting to me. We could have a real diamond in the rough.

    4. We are going to have an extremely aggressive defense. For the better part of a decade, we have had the bend, don't break, mentality. PREVENT and COVER 2 Sucks when that is all you do. With this proposed hybrid 3-4 Defensive scheme, aggression will be the name of the game. What is better than Freeney and Mathis rushing from the line? Freeney and Mathis getting 3 extra yards to get up to speed.

    5. Jacob Lacey gone, Tom Zbikowski signed. Need I say more??

We don't know what is going to happen this year. We do know it will not be like last year, or the past 10 or 12. Embrace the change and look for some aggression. Some aggression we haven't seen....EVER!!

  10. If we could ditch the contract, I would trade for a bag of fig newtons. We need a solid NT, back-up QB, perhaps even a RB of some description. We need cap space! Trading for a couple of draft choices, maybe an early 3rd and mid 5th, would be realistic and beneficial at this point.

  11. I am tired of Kravitz. I will give him that he wrote an intelligent article for a change, but I think he is a joke. He whines and complains when we win, he whines and complains when we lose. He is constantly jabbing because he cannot get an audience with Polian. Yes, the Polian's have not had spectacular drafts recently, but this year's draft picks are going to be major contributors.

Our team is like a luxury car. It has all kinds of bells and whistles and is the best out there when all of the parts work in unison. What happens if you drop a gear from the transmission? You can move, but not well, and eventually you have to replace or service the part. Our team lost it's engine and transmission when Peyton went down. The team, the staff, and the front office genuinely thought Peyton would recover in time for the start of the season. With our team missing those components, it is a miracle we can field a team. We have a luxury car, with a Yugo engine. It just isn't working. That isn't the Polian's...it just happens!

You can blame the Polian's for Tony Ugoh, Jerry Hughes, Donald Brown, re-signing Bob Sanders (what the public wanted at the time), re-signing Joe Addai (what the public wanted), not resigning some of our better defenders, but you cannot blame them for an injury induced team coma.

Peyton determines the fate of this team short term. If he is healthy and returns, this is a blip on the radar; if he is done, it may be a year or two before we re-ascend the hill. Unfortunately, Peyton is a human being and at some point, now or in the future, will be forced to retire. That doesn't make it the front offices fault, it is just reality.

  12. Driving home from work this afternoon, I listened to JMV interview Paul Kuharsky. A good point was made about blowing up the defense and starting over. Peyton is on a clock at this point, if he comes back healthy, we do not have the time to complete rebuild the defense, that will take too long. We need to execute the Tampa-2 the correct way. So here is my brainstorm....

Coaching: Can the staff. Bring in Fisher and a team of his choosing. He has got to be frothing at the mouth for a chance to win a Superbowl. His teams always played hard, ran well, and hit hard. He has never had a chance to utilize a player of Peyton's caliber.

Draft: You take the best available player. If we have the opportunity to draft Luck, you take him. We need at minimum one more solid O-lineman and some larger secondary players. The days of nipping at opponents ankles is over.

Trades/Cuts/etc.: Trade or cut Hughes, Addai, Brown, Brackett, Bullett. Sorry to say bye to some of them, but between inept playing and constant injury, they need to be off the tally board. We can bring in some vets or find some younger talent.

Gameplan: Offense can harken back to the Rams of the late 90's. Delone Carter can run over people and has the speed to runaway. If we get a solid running game, it allows Peyton to lower his throwing to 25 to 30 times per game. This should limit the solid hits on him and prevent further serious injury. Our wide-outs are darn good when they can actually stick to timing routes and with Peyton it is possible.

  13. Yes, I am sure Bill Polian and Jim Irsay got together and decided..."you know, we have won for a decade, let's just see if we can lose every game this year. I mean, Peyton is out, so let's just lose." That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. The Pacers are an example of what happens when you lose in this city. You go from being important to not being able to give away a ticket. There is no way they want to lose. Nothing sells more Superbowl's in the future like going 0-16.

They are just genuinely terrible. They can't tackle, the can't defend, the can't pass block, they can't run block...they just stink. Their coaching staff is rotten. Nice guys, but terrible coaches. My hope is that they can the coaching staff in 9 weeks.
