  1. I think we have a heavy dose of people borrowing Irsay's private powdery stash.  We don't need running backs and we don't need receivers.  We need O-Line!!  After the O-Line, we need secondary and LB.

We have three RB's that can run if they are given a hole...so let's get some people that can make a hole on the line of scrimage!!

  2. Our receiver play has not been the issue.  Our number 1...most import issue is O-Line.  I am a firm believer that if we can make strides on our Offensive Line the rest falls into place.  We have adequate receivers and, I believe, above average TE.

WR becomes a concern next year.  Now, if someone makes us a deal we cannot refuse, we have to take it, but beyond that I would go out searching.

  3. With the addition of Pep, and big time question marks in Donald/Delone, I feel like the Cołts are going to take Taylor in the 3rd maybe trade back into the backend of 2nd to secure him. Ballard was great but we need young talented depth at the most injury prone position in the NFL. Taylor would fit in day one. I know RB isn't the biggest need, I'm just saying dont be surprised.

The question marks aren't as much about our running backs, but whether our O-Line can block anything.  You could put Adrian Peterson on our team, if we can't open a hole it doesn't matter.  We need some O-Line talent first and foremost!!

  4. Here are my projections, looks like we are starting to fill in some gaps.

    BASE 3-4 Defense

    DE - Redding

    NT - Chapman*

    DE - Nevis

    OLB - Freeney

    ILB - Angerer

    ILB - Conner

    OLB - Mathis

    CB - Powers

    S - Bethea

    S - Zybikowski

    CB - Rucker

    * Denotes Rookie

    Offense

    LT - Castanzo

    LG - Justice+

    C - Satele

    RG - Ijalana

    RT - McGlynn

    TE - Allen*

    WR1 - Wayne

    WR2 - Collie

    Slot - Fleener*

    QB - Luck*

    RB - Brown

    * Denote Rookie, + Denotes best guess at this time

I don't feel like the sky is falling. We just need to get some depth at OG and CB with our last 4 picks. It is looking far better than last year!

  5. There is no downside to this pick...

    1. He shows he is worthwhile, pushes our current RB corps, and probably puts Darren Evans on the Practice Squad.

    2. He shows marginal usefulness and gets a practice squad position.

    3. He is crap, we cut him, and we save some cap money that we need.

Not expected, but not as awful as some might think.

  6. He also said that he was going to keep Peyton until he retired. Things change. Nothing is written in stone. Who knows what will happen down the road. He is too expensive, but we know what we have in him. I would rather have the 14 million, but if Pagano sees something, I would rather Pagano run with his instincts. He seemed to know what he was doing in Baltimore.

  7. Tamme is not a world-beater, but he is certainly a capable stop-gap tight end for one year until you get your upgrade next year. I'm not so sure Fleener is anymore the world-beater you say Tamme isn't. Creating needless holes on offense, only to replace said player with a player of similar skillset is mind-numbingly stupid. We passed on the opportunity to upgrade O-line, D-line and secondary to be cute and keep up with the Jones' (i.e. New England)

Oh, and why is everyone so sure Donnie Avery is going to be our starter? For all we know, he could just be a camp body who doesn't even make the final roster. The guy hasn't proven anything and has yet to stay healthy for a full season

Jacob Tamme signed a 3 yr. - 9 Million dollar contract. He will be 29 when it ends

Fleener and Allen combined will make less than that 9 Million mark and we will probably lock them up for four years.

We swapped in younger, and arguably, more talented TE's for a person who was a backup to a man that no longer is playing. I think it was a great move, not to mention the comfortability for our rookie QB.

Bruce Arians started Peyton with a 1-2 punch of tight ends - Pollard and Dilger. This isn't about the Patriots, it is about our O-Coordinator's system.

I am not anointing Donnie Avery. I was pointing out that people were complaining about him. We drafted a younger, faster, version with Hilton.

  8. This is all true, but would Jacob Tamme or Dallas Clark not have sufficed in the same role they have planned for Fleener? I just feel like it was pointless to let go of our former tight ends if you're only going to end up replacing them with a player of similar strength's and weaknesses. Why create an unnecessary hole that now HAD to be filled (wasting high draft picks in the process)? The whole thing just seemed redundant to me...

Jacob Tamme was, more or less, effective but by no means was a world beater. As for Dallas, it is not just a coincidence that he is without a job. He is done. One broken hip, one broken wrist, one jacked up leg, and a plethora of concussions. Both of these would have cost too much to keep.

Giving Andrew Luck a familiar weapon, Fleener, is a no brainer. He is a physical monster and they can already read each other. They are both stuck in Stanford until June 8th. They can both work together on the playbook and new routes. A second, physical pass catching tightend plays into Arians game. Eldridge becomes our blocking tight end, something that suits him well.

People have been complaining about Donnie Avery since we acquired him. We just got an upgraded version of him and we complain more??

Things will be fine, the sky is not falling! We are going to do some work on defense now.

  9. I am glad he is saying how happy he is...that makes him more marketable. If he acts like a jerk, he will be tough to unload. He wants to behave, so he can go play where he is comfortable. $19 Mil for this season is crazy. Trade him for another teams xerox machine and a pack of chewing gum, whatever it takes to free up the additional $14 Mil. With us grabbing Cory Redding, Baltimore might be in the market at the right price.

If Asante Samuel only drew a 7th Rounder, we cannot expect much more than that, unless it is a 5th or 6th next year.

  10. He is big and will fill a hole. That is what we need and what we have lacked. I don't care if he falls over when they snap the ball, as long as, people can't run up the middle on us. This move is what I was calling for with Kelly Gregg. Not necessarily the final answer, but at least a bandage for a couple of seasons. Who knows, with the right personnel around him, it could work out very well.

  11. I am not expecting him to be a world beater. However, a declining NT is better than our current position of NO NT. For a one year, cap friendly contract, it buys us time.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

  12. I haven't heard that RGIII has ever had an attitude problem. From all accounts he seems to have an excellent attitude and excellent work ethic. Dan Snyder may finally be getting a decent QB in spite of himself. I'm not a redskins fan and don't much care for Dan Snyder; however, I don't think it's fair to label a seemly good kid as an attitude problem at this point. Colts are gonna' draft Andrew Luck and I'm certainly happy about that. GO COLTS!

It seems to me when the team with the number 1 pick in the NFL Draft asks for a workout, you would make space for that to happen. By all accounts, I agree, RG3 seems to be a stand up kid, from a strong family. However, between my perception of his attitude on his pro-day and this latest balking at a workout, it leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth. My point about Snyder, is that he could be given a one-piece jigsaw puzzle and find a way to mess it up. If that man wants a player, it sends a red flag up, in my opinion.

  13. Here is some new fodder to consider.

    Kelly Gregg - NT - 35 years old - 6-0 - 320 lbs.

This guy is very long in the tooth, but for a 1 year contract he could be very helpful. Last year he played for the Chiefs, however, he spent previous years with both the Ravens and the Eagles. He should know Pagano and Grigson fairly well, and visa versa. This could be a very affordable option and could buy us a year, allowing us to address a long-term option in 2013.

    Thoughts??

  14. The other thing we sometimes neglect to mention is that $62 Million also has to sign a rather larger list of expiring contracts. We have several players that become FA's in 2013. We still will have a ton of space, but not really $62 Million either.

Any way you cut it, as I have said before, Freeney costs too much. It is time to say goodbye. $14 Million this year is worth far more!!

BTW, you can roll money in to next year if you do not use it, but we NEED to use it. We still have options available at NT out there.
