  1. RG3 is the rookie of the year. The Colt's defense carried the team. In their 11 victories, opponents averaged 18.2 points oer game, which is good for 5th in the league, which is pretty good since Luck had a lot of turnovers. I see a team with a great defense that has it's bad days. I don't know where the myth started with ESPN pundits that Andrew Luck is working with nothing. They clearly have an agenda...

Great defense? Please. In total yards, in ALL games we were 7th worst and in points allowed we were 12th worst. I agree that the defense was good at times but they were no where in the neighborhood of "great"

  2. My reasons for Luck.

    Most yards for rookie QB.

Most yards in a game by a rookie QB.

Most 300 yard games by a rookie QB.

Most wins by a rookie QB taken fist overall, stands now at 11.

Took a team that was 2-11 to 11-5. From last place in the whole league to, 4th place in the AFC and 7th place in the league.

    Played the whole season.

    7 game winning drives?

6 fourth quarter come backs by a rookie.

Has the worst Oline of the three. Seattle and Washington both have running games, Indy is starting to find one, but still isn't there.

Only Wilson and Luck should be in the consideration, I am sorry. RGIII does NOT belong. If RGIII gets it over Luck or even Wilson, it shows that ROY is just a joke. Wilson is the only other person I could see getting it, but his team was already the best out of the three, which is why I believe Luck should get it.

When you look purely at "team" passing yards its clear the Colts average 7th in the league in passing yards. Washington 20th and Seattle 27th. Here's the tell tale: Washington #1 in Rushing and Seattle #3....Colts #22. RG3 and Wilson both had great seasons but both also benefitted from having a great team running game whereas Luck was leaned on heavily to make plays especially late in games. All 3 deserve consideration but Luck did more with less and set every record along the way.

  3. You saying "this should settle things" is funny. The fact is real simple - if someone thinks Luck is better, a reasonable argument can be made to support that. But the exact same argument could be made for RG111 or even Wilson for that matter. There is no definitve right answer.

That may not settle things but it is certainly a more reasonable point.

Very good point. I don't want to jump the gun here but with Luck, RG3, Wilson and a couple of the other rookie qB's that started most of the season it really reminds me of 83 draft. This group has a long way to go yet to be in that company but when you look at these guys vs Elway, Marino, Kelly and Ken O'brien this group has a chance to be just at impressive. All of these guys can run as well as throw.

  4. Well, as was discussed in another tread or article I read the Colts of 2012 are a "team". Reggie had a great year and Mathis had a really good year individually but it seemed like this team did what it took to get a win by making plays when they had to as opposed to leaning on a couple of super stars to get it done. It really does remind me a lot of the 1995 team. Maybe we can make another charge into the AFC championship game and this time come out on top.

  5. Nice article in the Indystar yesterday listing upcoming players hitting free agency.

    Unrestricted free agents:

    Dwight Freeney

    Jerraud Powers

    Pat McAfee

    Austin Collie

    Donnie Avery

    Winston Justice

    Drew Stanton

    Antonio Johnson

    Darius Butler

    Moise Fokou

    Mewelde Moore

    Tony Hills

    Jamaal Westerman

    Restricted free agents:

    Jeff Linkenbach

    Martin Tevaseu

    Joe Reitz

    Seth Olsen

    Josh Gordy

    A.J. Edds

    Deji Karim

    Cassius Vaughn

Too bad we cant reverse this list because most of the restricted FA I think we could definitely let go. I think we'll attempt to re-sign McAfee, powers, avery, butler, fokou, vaughn, justice and linkenbach. One thing I liked about Grigson his first year is that he wasn't afraid to bring in free agents. I didn't hate polian but he just didnt do well with free agency whereas this year Grigson took a chance on a lot of guys and several of them payed off big time.

  6. I agree on most of what ya said, I think a draft pick should have been used on an O Lineman earlier but that just was not gonna happen with all the O Linemen we brought in vie Free Agency, I agree Briwn has not lived up his draft position but he also has not been given the keys to carry the load in the running game, He had 4.8 ypc last year on limited carries and 3.9 behind the mess that is our O Line last year and statistically was better the Ballard before he got injured. None of this is to say I dont like Ballard because I definitly do, I love a power running game even more then a speed back (although Brown had power considering most of his runs were between the tackles)Ballards fumbles are a worry to me eventhough we have not lost one. I get the argument that if he is getting yards and only fumbling a few times then no big deal, But what if those fumbles are not recovered by the offense? does it become a big deal then? Then there is Brown who has not fumbled since 2009 (his rookie year)

Ya, like I said. Brown is decent. Like I have said about Jerry Hughes, he was drafted too high. I'm not really complaining because Brown can be a solid running back as can Vick Ballard. Two different styles in my opinion but both can be effective. Neither one is going to be a 1200 yeard back especially with our OL being pieced together this year. If we add a couple of good pieces to the line then it might be a different story. Ballard's fumbles are concerning whether they are recovered by the offense or not. if there is one stat that will indicate win or loss it's turnovers. So, like i say when Grigs assesses his team needs come draft time I don't think RB comes up on the list before OL, DL, OLB and probably defensive secondary. Just my opinion. But drafts are funny, it would be tough to pass on a great RB talent if one falls unexpectedly also.

  7. If you expect that a 1st round selection is going to come in and start and give you solid production in his first year, second year and so on then yes he's a bust. But, I think this 3-4 scheme fits his skills better than the 4-3. He played decent this year but he is not I repeat not a better than average player. Does that mean I don't like him? No, but I think he was probably drafted 3 rounds ahead of where he should have been. He'll do fine next season and be an average player but I don't ever see him as a 10 sack guy.

  8. Freeney is gone. Some team will pay him huge $ to be their pass rushing DE in a 4-3. Thats where is belongs and he knows that. He doesn't want to spend the last 2 or 3 good years he has left playing in a 3-4. There will be plenty of teams wanting his services and the Colts will fall way down on his list because of the scheme.

  9. Brown has a year left on his deal

May bad. I thought this was the last year of his contract. Brown had not lived up to his draft position. He's had a few nice games but I expected more from him. That being said, if he is back next year then RB is not a big need. OL and DE/OLB are going to be needs for sure. I think Grigson did a pretty good job with the draft last year. Of course he was drafting at the top of each round. So the difficulty factor goes up this year with drafting in the 20's

  10. I was one of the few that wanted Bruce Arians as our head coach when we went looking for a coach last off season. Nothing against Chuck but I thought Arians was a good fit. I was really happy when he came in as OC. It would be a huge loss in my opinion if he leaves for a head coaching job. One thing I know is that Irsay will try to keep him if he can, throw some more $ at him for sure. I think Arians was a great choice for Luck in his first season and I worry about who we would get to replace him.

There will definitely be some decent head coaching openings and I'm sure Arians will be at the top of many lists. One of the things I love about Arians is he's old school in that he's got some fire in his belly and he talks like a coach who would still go out there and knock heads if he could. He would surely be a big loss to this team so early in Luck's career.

  11. Next year is only a few weeks away...the combine then the draft. So, that being said i think we still have upgrades to make along the offensive and defensive line as well as in both backfields.

I feel pretty confident that Freeney will not be back. Mathis seems to have fit in pretty well at his new spot. Freeney not so much. So, I think DE/OLB is a big need. Some of the FA corners that Grigson brought in stepped up big time this year. Can they continue to produce?

I also think that RB is an area that can be addressed. We need some speed back there to go with the bruisers that we already have. I think Donald Brown has seen his last game as a Colt. On the other side of the coin I think we are very well set at WR and TE.
