I would rather go with a defensive minded coach. Sean Payton is the brains behind the Saint O

The National War Authorization Act is kinda scary. Lump it with the Patriot Act and you got yourself a bit of an issue.

Teams were taking away the run forcing Curtis Painter to pass. Who wouldn't

I think Brackett would make a good back up in NO

Its REALLY cold in Indy........
Yeah not that cold. -20 here.

We dont have to go all 3-4. We could rock a hybrid defense of 4-3 and 3-4 and still make use of Freeney.

I don't think we're in any position to lose Saturday. Pollack is not as good and considering how poorly the line played this year we need upgrades not down grades. I really hope Peyton can come back and put all this blow up the team stuff to rest. We were in the Super Bowl 2 years ago. If we can get better on D and O line I think we can be contenders again.

the giants always have jpp osi and tuck on the line when their rushing the passer. why cant we do that with freeney, mathis, and hughes. seems like a waste to have the kid just play sparingly and we can include nevis on the line with those three since he can pass rush as well. just seems like an idea that could work on say third and long so we can get very quick pressure on the qb instead of always having to rely on freeney and mathis. i want us to start getting creative on defense.
Remember when we played the Giants and they gave us these looks. Peyton audibled to the run and we ripped off huge chunks of yards. We already have a hard time stopping the run. Also if your opponent manages a first down throwing against this package they can rush to the line and beat the set up with runs. The Colts struggle against the run as it is. I'm not against the idea. I'm just playing devils advocate.

I heard a very scary scenario today on jmv's show.Hear me out,if we are going to keep Caldwell and promote a GM from within, what really have we done other than fired a hall of fame GM. i am getting a feeling we all just got a ton of smoke blown up our you know what.If this is the case nothing has changed. Change means change and I dont see anything changing. We are gonna be stuck we Caldwell and a quality GM does not seem to be knocking down the door, ooooooooopppps we are in trouble. Can you say smoke screen???????
Some of the most successful companies in the world are very good at attracting talent and having it grow inside the organization. Promoting for within allows a company build culture and creates a workplace where employees feel they can go somewhere in the organization. People always talk about the business side of football when referring to dealings with Manning any player for that matter.
I feel the Colts had a very successful decade and during that time and built a culture of winning in the locker room and in the management. I will admit we had a terrible year and that could be complacency, age, or lack of proper succession planing. I am more than willing to see what the Colts management and ownership, can do. If they think they have the guy in the organization I'm all for it.
In fact I'm a bit worried about completely shaking this team up. If we can put up points and our defense can defend the pass, which it used to be able to do, tha'ts how you compete with teams like the Packers, and Patriots.

It solves one big problem; Who our QB is after Manning. However it creates some serious logistical and financial problems.
One of the problems for Luck I have not even heard brought up yet. If he intended to be patient, learn the game from the best and wait behind Manning, his career stats are going to take a wallop. Statistics are a players legacy in black and white. The greats, like Manning, are stat hounds. If Luck spent 3 years behind Manning, he would be throwing away a modest figure of 8,000+ yards and 60+TD's for his career.
He get 3 years less hits. So maybe he lasts later in his career

I'm kinda worried we just fired the winingest Gm of the past decade

I think if we trade the luck pick to a team; that teams draft picks might be later in the draft in following years.

Do you honestly think the Colts care at all what you'll accept?
Are you serious? That's how you talk to people posting on the message board.

I like watching wins. My cheering and happy thoughts aren't going to change much so Ill just enjoy the ride.

You WIN. You always win.

Wooooo Hooo> still maybe fire Caldwell but great game.

Yeaaaaaaaaaah I'm so proud of them!!!!!!

I wonder if we could get Dungy

In most cases its best to get rid of the old Coach. He can still be viewed as a leader and if his opinions differ there can be organizational problems. Since I don't believe Caldwell has a big personality he could stay in the org. Doubtful

We can give up mathis, Freeney, Wayne, and maybe Clarke. As long as we keep Austin Collie, i will be fine!
What is going on here?
-
I'm not sure his scheme fits with our personnel.
We do have good tackling linebackers now. So that would help.

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

This topic has gone on for too long for me to read everything.
But generally.
You don't trade the best. Good GM's spend their life looking for players like Manning. Once you hit, you ride that. If Manning can still play at his level you ride that. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. We went to the Super Bowl with basically this same team. A few smart moves in the off season and we're there.

Looks like Caldwell might be gone if we go 0-16.

Being a good coach doesn't mean you know how to hire other head coaches
