He didn’t disappear. He would of had ten sacks. Just couldn’t stay healthy.
But isn't being hurt too often the excuse with Colts players that underachieve?
Heard this over and over, Kelly, Nelson, Leonard, etc... and on and on.
Sometimes it gets old, that guys would do this, or that, if only they had been healthy.

Yeah, but that goes both ways to much greater a factor than the common fan is able to discern.....
Good point. It's easy to say our young corners can't hold the coverage long enough for our pass rushers to get to the QB...
But it seems more likely to me, with this group, that it will be our rushers who cannot get to the QB fast enough for the coverage to hold.

I agree with you in your response to @Restinpeacesweetchloe that Paye SHOULD have ten sacks if healthy this season considering his draft position but I think that will be a reach for him because he had a grand total of 11.5 sacks for his ENTIRE 4 yr career at Michigan. The Colts need an ELITE pass rusher and that's not Paye's game. He's a solid de that plays hard but long-term I believe that he'll come up short as that game changing de that's been missing from this defense for years now.
Right, I never thought of Kwity as an elite pass rusher. My point is, considering where he was drafted, it should be expected of him to have a solid impact during games. Should be a force making plays, both against the run and pass.
After a promising rookie season, we all thought he would come into his own in year two,...
but yet, he seemed to disappear a bit, in 2022. This should be a deciding season for Paye, does he make the jump to greatness? Or end up "just a guy"

This could save MAC getting the 4th spot on initial roster if Jelani is put to the i.r. No report how far along the injury is.
Or perhaps Pharaoh Brown?

I thought Steichen mentioned the other day the Woods was getting closer to returning?

All the lineman worth anything are going to be gone. Steelers just traded a guard that started all 17 games last season.
Another trade.
Vikings trade OL Vederian Lowe to Patriots
Now we know the Patriots are as concerned about their offensive tackle depth as fans are.
They made their second trade for an offensive tackle Sunday, acquiring Vederian Lowe from the Vikings for a sixth-round pick, Jordan Schultz of theScore.com reports.
Earlier in the day, the Patriots sent running back Pierre Strong Jr. to the Browns in exchange for offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr.

Only way that happens is if the fish have another G they are really high on for this year.
I don't know what their depth is?

More than half the stuff I have read has been unsubstantiated, haha. People are throwing stuff out there like they actually know.
Like how we are going to trade Taylor for Robert Hunt?

I like any and all news/rumors right now.
It at least passed the time till something actually(maybe) happens.
...and sometimes, at least with the colts twitter bloggers, their predictions turn out to be true.

What difference does it make if he was at practice? all he does is stand there or walk around

I don’t think so as Paye and Dayo are getting close to colts having to make a decision on them.
Both of them better step it up this regular season too, if they are planning on nice contract extensions.

Lets just hope the 5 guys play up to the level of their salaries, and then stay healthy. and hope the new Line coaches can teach line the right assignments. and then perhaps the backups we already have will turn out to be adequate with AR5 as QB?

Yeah. There is always a slim chance they could find a lineman from waivers... but pretty much knew all along, Ballard will have to live and die by the roster he assembled this year.

Christian Covington, Germain Ifedi among first Lions cuts
...The Lions also released offensive linemen Germain Ifedi and Bobby Hart. Both players have extensive experience and could land as depth for other teams at some point in the future...

Not happy with JoJo or Olubi if they have to play defense…..Speed yes and Stuart maybe.
No depth if/when Leonard gets hurt. Franklin and Speed could be solid starting unit but then who plays SAM and who backs them up? Stuart?
Bot really feeling that depth….
I felt this way too, to begin the preseason... but now, from watching Stuard, I'm thinking, if given the shot, he would do really well. I would think Dorman would back up Franklin, and Stuard / Leonard and Speed?
Honestly, I have my doubts as to how effective Leonard will be, so we may very well need these backup LBs as the year goes on.

Just asking the question… why would we sign Hunt now as opposed to a week or more ago when he was here meeting with the brass?
What would have been the benefit of waiting to sign him? The sooner they signed him the quicker he can learn the playbook and the quicker he would have been on the field. I just don’t think we will sign him unless we get into some kind of a pickle at this point. I’m just saying if they wanted him I would think common sense means he’d already be on the team.
I don't know. Personally, I hope we don't sign him. But it was reported the colts were close to signing him, but he ended up leaving, hoping for a better offer. Then one of the Colts twitter insiders posted he expected the team to sign him this week. I cant remember the guys name, but he is often right. Maybe Ballard is ready to throw him a bit more change?

If it is today, again, it might be tomorrow depending on timing of their waiver. It might trickle in a little after that. Should be somewhere close to that though.
Could it be today? even though there are still preseason games being played?

We really could use another Center. Unless the Colts are somewhat confident in French and Dakoda Shepley?
He looks the part though...

Think we only sign him if we trade Taylor. Still maybe not even then, but that's the only way I see it a possibility.
I have a feeling we sign him. even though Taylor has been up in the air, the Colts were ready to sign Hunt the other day, but he left...
One of the Colts twitter insiders posted the other day, he expects the Colts to sign Hunt this week.

Ok, maybe Paye missed some time because he was hurt? I kind of remember he had some injury issues. (and I am too lazy to search google to see his stats from last year)
But what I saw was... Our pass rush stunk when Paye was out, and our pass rush stunk when he was in.
...Of course injuries are not the players fault, but also they are not a free pass for poor performance.
