  1. This kind of stuff happens in badly run organizations.

Yup, the problems there are systemic and far beyond the product on the field.  All the "leaks" and anonymous sources stuff has been going on for years there.  Until the culture changes, they'll never have sustained success.  Makes what Gibbs did there in his return all the more impressive.  If Tom Brady had been a late round draft pick there, you might not have ever heard of him.

  2. doing more with less should be enough to tell the folks at PFF who is better....

I don't buy this as an argument - just because Wilson isn't asked to do something doesn't mean he isn't capable. Lack of evidence for is not the same as evidence against.

That being said, I would take Luck too.

  3. My question on film study is this......Usin this season as an example the Titans are now 3 games into the season...Im not exactly sure how film study works, I have ready the normal thing that is done is that many coaches that study game film chart plays of each down, distance, formation and so forth...My question on it is this....Lets say your much further along into the season......Coaches wont actually go back and chart every single down and play all of those games would they? I'd imagine that would take away from ALOT of time to prepare for an opponent on the field if your for example much deeper into the season and many more games have been played. Never understood how coaches and coordinators and Quality Control coaches do that

like jvan said, they have quality guys (usually entry level positions) that go through and do all the charting and looking for trends etc and they give that to the coaches in a nice easy to read little package. As for gameplanning, they typically go 4 games back and if a team hasn't run a given concept or play in that time, they usually won't practice for it that week. Individual players on the other hand sometimes keep notebooks on opposing players that they know they will face again later down the road. So even going back to last year and the spot duty he saw during 2012, defensive players (especially within the division) will have their own collection of information on Cousins with notes on how he handled various situations and his tendencies. Sometimes its the quality guys or position coaches that give them the info, but a lot of times its the players themselves watching film and taking notes - and they keep that stuff forever, or as long as its relevant.

no idea if that's what you were asking or not :)

  4. As for Cousins...that was a nightmare of a game. Seemed like after he took that first sack he was shell shocked the rest of the game....compounding bad throws with worse.

As of now, Cousins is a decent QB until he gets knocked off script. And this isn't one of those "oh its just one game" things. Its been a trend. Yes he will get better, but not sure how high his ceiling is. Great guy though - would like to see him succeed somewhere (whether in Washington or elsewhere).

@NEPatriotsDraft nailed it with this 2012 description of Kirk Cousins' weaknesses. Still the same issues in 2014.

Weaknesses: Does not handle pressure in the pocket well, throws off his back foot far too often - Has locked onto receivers at times - Could add some bulk, got shaken by a few hits during the season - Not a great passer when flushed out of the pocket

Giants DBs said Cousins was staring down his receivers, they saw it on film and Pierre-Paul pointed it out in-game.

  5. I like Cousins just fine, but that's what now...18 turnovers in 10 games I think - and not all of them were full games? I know a couple scouts compared him to Rex Grossman coming out of college. I think he'll be just fine in time. Let your own eyes judge and ignore the talking heads.

  6. Yet he hasn't had 1 offseason to work with the first team he always is conning right in and doing the best he can plus he was in shanahans crappy offense last year

he had all of last off season working with the first team - questions of arm strength have nothing to do with anything you said....and forcing balls into coverage is just as much on him as it is the "crappy offense" he might have been in.  That axe you're grinding must be pretty sharp by now.

but I have no real intention on spending my time debating this with someone claiming an MSU bias - its obvious nothing will change.  I'll rest content in what I know of the situation there.

  7. How he comes in every time with no practice with the first team and usually looks good and he has nowhere near the reps RG3 has with them

Did you watch the game today? They put up 41 without bobby

yeah I saw it...also saw his three games last year - got progressively worse.  Not taking anything away from Cousins, but the sample size isn't there yet, and there are still plenty of questions - arm strength, decision making, etc.

  8. Maybe a little true but ppl have to stop denying the fact that Kirk is a better NFL QB the bob if he had the same chance as other starting QBs in the league he would do wonders IMO he doesn't get to work with the first team O ever

further along now yeah as a pro-style QB, but inside the building there has been little question who the long term answer was.  Whether or not you agree with their assessment, that's what it is.  Given this latest injury though, who knows what happens now.

  9. Part of the problem was getting drafted by Washington.

can't underestimate this - their track record of developing draft picks has been suspect at best for most of the past decade

  10. Something that I'm surprised didn't get more attention was RG3 tripping over himself during a handoff and fumbling the ball. It was hilarious to watch if you saw it live.

actually tripped over the center who got pushed back off the snap, but eh....he also could have just eaten the ball instead of trying to get the hand-off.  hind-sight etc.

  11. Thanks....I think :) I think the Redskins got off to a shaky start but they still put up a pretty good fight. The Eagles played badly as well today if I'm not mistaken so who knows who wins the NFC East.

draw them out of a hat - wouldn't shock me though to see 9 wins be enough to take it

  12. ugh...had a little post typed up with the actual numbers etc but my browser crashed....

After their age 28 season, Peterson is something like 1500 yards behind Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith at that age. Barry played two more years, rushing for over 2000 at age 29 and just under 1500 at age 30 before walking away. Barry was freak of nature.

Emmitt played into his mid 30s, almost cracking 1000 yards at age 34 and 36. His best season was at age 26. Running backs tend to peak around 27 or so.

While I won't say he can't do it, for pretty much all the reasons mentioned above, the deck is really stacked against him. I would be surprised if he did it, but out of all the RBs going today, he's got as good a shot as any of them.

  13. ESPN is a joke. I haven't watched them in over 3 years. The internet has become the greatest source for news. Weather it be sports news, unbiased world news (including the news that the mainstream outlets don't cover) or something that you find interesting, it's always a hundred times better than what you see on the teletube.

this whole paragraph I agree with. I think I'm going on something like 10-12 years not having watched ESPN aside from live game broadcasts. Lot of superior sources out there if you know where to look.
