Extremely gracious toward Irsay and Colts again I thought.

From NFL network if you missed it. I like that he dismissing the thought that he avoided the NFC because of Eli. He said he only talked to teams that he was serious about joining "I did know that the 49ers are in the NFC"

Here's a quick article for the Denver post about how Peyton again insisted on giving the Broncos an out if he's not healthy. The Denver writers are all impressed that he didn't push for more guaranteed money. Only year one is guaranteed.

I would bet my ranch(if i had one) PM will not be playing 3 years from now,let alone 4 or 5 years.
He's not accepting of that - thus the problem. Stinky situation.

He's planning to play at least 4 more years. You can't base your decision based on 1 year's schedule
-
So it looks like, as a practical matter, the $18 million in the first year is all that's guaranteed. I think this works for both sides.
-
Initial reaction to Peyton deal: could be 1 yr, $18M deal. He could have leveraged more guarantee, less risk and did not. Impressive.

I beg to differ....he is absolutely unequivocally unproven post surgery....throwing in a planned session and "playing" real football are completely different. How is he going to be under pressure and in real game settings....I'm not saying it's not worth taking the risk I just don't think they needed to pony up that kind of dough for him.
Like I said - they have all kind of safety nets regarding the neck. They don't have to pay him if it gets re-injured.
-
I know it's MANNING and all...but for an unproven player (post major surgery) I'm surprised it's THAT MUCH!
There's lots of waivers concerning his neck to protect the Broncos.

Matt Moore will start over Garrard. This signing makes no sense at all to me.
Maybe they'll trade him for Tebow and give Peyton a backup.

The mood down here is at an all time low, there is even going to be a protest to fire Ireland outside the Dolphins facility tomorrow. This franchise is a joke right now. Stephen Ross needs to sell the team because he has no idea what the heck he's doing. The stadium is going to look like the Marlins games the last few years which is sad considering this was once a proud franchise. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Matt Millen > Jeff Ireland
I don't really get it because I thought they played with a lot of heart last year and showed flashes of being good toward the end. I want them to improve to challenge NE.

Are you guys relieved that Peyton won't play the Colts in 2012 or were you hoping he would?
-
If it was all about the money, the Titans would have won. All 3 teams were given the same parameters. He could have started a bidding war, but didn't. It's a lot of money, but he could have commanded the largest contract in NFL history if he tried.
-
Is there any evidence that the Colts want Saturday back? They keep talking about wanting him in the front office but I haven't heard anyone say that they want him back under center.
-
Something is bothering me.....
Why is Peyton suddenly willing to work out for all the other teams, but he never offered to work out for the colts?
If he would have worked out, he might have gotten a counter offer from the Colts to his contract.
He wasn't allowed to work out for anyone except for training staff while under contract for the Colts. Irsay wasn't about to bring him back after releasing him. He let him go because Peyton wants to play 4-5 more years and that's too long for Andrew to wait. They weren't going to re-sign Manning even if healthy.
-
He only played 37 games for the Broncos and only won 13 of them. They retired it as a symbol since he was their first QB ever. Nice of him to let Peyton wear it if he wants.
-
David Garrard
yup. He signed with Miami. That came out of left field.
-
He wouldn't have freedom over the offense in San Fran. Too much pressure - anything less than superbowl in year one would be seen as failure, even though he's looking to play for 4-5 years. He probably felt a better connection to their front office. NFC is a tougher battle. He knows the AFC better. Broncos have more cap room to bring in others.

I'm sure you meant to say BUN Right :???:
Maybe she was using the British term for that particular body part.
-
No, not in Denver or San Franciso because they are completely outside the AFC South, the division Peyton made famous & his own.
Getting a ring in Tennessee is like stabbing Colts Nation in the back with a blunt, dull blade. It reaks of betrayal & being a traitor to the franchise that made you a household name.
You go into the Hall of Fame with 1 team only. Besides, if you win a ring outside your division, you typically go back to your starting franchise i.e. the Indianapolis Colts.
Well, we don't have to argue about it anymore.

I doubt the Broncos bring in Tamme + Clark. It's one or the other. Stokley is almost a sure bet. Played with the Broncs, fans love him, and he's played with PM. If Saturday doesn't come back then he'll be there.
I think Jeff's been a little weird about this. It seems like the only place he wants to go is wherever PM is, and he doesn't seem like he wants to come back to the city that's help make his career. A little selfish, but I still love him.
He got a taste for playing for other QBs and decided it wasn't worth the effort ;)

I agree keep Tamme. Would like to keep Jeff but he might follow Manning in the end. (or coughRodgerscough)
I really hope they don't ALL end up in Denver. That would be kinda strange to see.
I am glad Wayne did not follow the crowd.
I think if Peyton had chosen Miami, Reggie would have followed. I'm sure Reggie knew that it wasn't going to be miami when he signed back up for Colts.

I heard Addai mentioned too, but not officially - just someone on the radio speculating.
Clark, Tamme, Saturday And Stokley Could All Be In Denver
