The player who had 18 for the Broncos is still alive at age 84 and has offered to let Manning wear it if he wants. Guess he only played 3 years for them but they retired it b/c he was their first QB.

Peyton took on the Tebow drama, but he avoided the drama of returning to LOS or playing Eli next year. He can get settled before those things happen.

I disagree that winning with the 49ers cements his legacy. I think it says he needed a strong team around him to win. This is more of a challenge, and if he succeeds it cements his legacy ore.

If it was about money, Titans would have been the choice. They were giving him the moon.
I suspect he had the best football conversations with the Broncos staff. They will let him run the offense.

Denver was his gut from the beginning but he had to pause to think about 49ers.
If he goes to 49ers, division would win, but still have to go through more tough teams in the playoffs.

That's what I was rooting for. Easier to cheer for the Broncos for me than the other 2 teams. I think this was his gut all along but SF and Titans were a distraction he had to work through

After adding QB Matt Flynn, the Seahawks have scheduled a visit Tuesday for Raiders RB Michael Bush. TE Jacob Tamme also to visit Seattle.

Tennessee message board is saying manning is on a plane for Denver now, which would make since if he was going to make a 9am press conference. I couldn't find their source but there were quite a few comments. (as per a post on sanfrans site)
If it were the Broncos private plane, we'd know. They all apparently have to announce and post their flight plans. That's how people found out about the Broncos going to Raleigh on Friday. People follow Irsay's too.

Thinking about this from the agents POV, it might be smart to have Smith go talk to the Fish, if they knew Manning was not going to sign with the 49ers .... might get his other client Smith a bigger deal to stick around no?

I read that link above - the guy is actually an ex convict apparently doing 11 months of a 16 month sentence for smashing a chair into the face of another teams fan. Real swell guy - if that story is legit, why in the world is he working on the radio covering the NFL?
I got the feeling it was some sort of underground radio thing rather than a real station. Could be wrong though. Guess that explains the incarcerated part.

"Everything is fair game after that." No, it isn't. Irsay stood by Peyton through knee surgery & bursa sac removal recovery & he signed the checks for several offensive weapons like Harrison, Clark, Collie, & Wayne to make #18's life easier on the field.
"Who Betrayed Who?" If Peyton goes to the Titans, there is no such thing as loyalty or "All is Fair In Love & War." IMO.
We're going to have to agree to disagree. Peyton has as much loyalty to the state of TN as he does to the Colts. He considers it home. I hope he choses elsewhere but I don't see it as betrayal.

No, he wasn't cut. His option bonus wasn't renewed or picked up. A person as media savvy as Petton won't rub Irsay's nose in it. Peyton is above petty vengence. Besides #18 was finacially well compensated for his 14 years of QB sevice in Indianapolis. He wasn't working for peanuts okay. Did Bill Polian surround #18 with weapons like Marvin Harrison Tarrik Glenn, Reggie Wanye, Brandon Stokley, Marshall Faulk, Edgerrian James, Dallas Clark, & Joseph Addai? Yes, of course he did.
Yes, Peyton is a remarkable talent who single-handedly turned INDY into a football playoffs contender, built Lucas Oil Stadium, & brought a Superbowl to Indianapolis no question, but Irsay & Polian chose Peyton over Ryan Leaf, Tom Moore molded him, & they continued to surround him with weapons. Please Don't act like #18 did it all alone okay; Peyton would be the 1st to tell you he didn't either. Sometimes partnerships simply run their course & end. Plain & simple.

Well, I do think Denver had it nailed until TN and SF showed up. They were the clear winners when it was just Arizona, Miami, and Denver.

Incarcerated Bob did say that Manning would be cut by the Colts about 3 days before it happened. That wasn't exactly going out on a limb though. The only thing that has me curious is that he usually declares pretty safe bets to be true according to his "sources". Right now, I had the feeling that it was between SF and TN. I wonder what's making him want to go out on this limb.
