Irsay usually takes care of his players.
Not necessarily with running backs. He let Faulk & Edge go. Don’t get me wrong, I think Taylor has earned a big contract extension . But it’s just not likely. Teams that give RBs a big second contract might win some, might make the playoffs, but they don’t win SBs. It sucks, it’s not really fair, but it just seems to work out that way.

20-0.

And while the Eagles are okay with 24 year old Jalen Hurts running the ball 160 times, that doesn't mean they intend to have 27-28 year old Jalen Hurts running the ball that much.
Good point. A wise person once said “There are good running quarterbacks, but there are no good old running quarterbacks.” -
I just looked at Daniel Jeremiah’s list of the top 150 players in the draft. The Colts got 8 of them. I didn’t check other teams, but just doing the math, it’s hard to imagine anyone getting more than that.

Overall, I really like this draft. Obviously the big question on the draft will be did the Colts get the right QB. But another big question is did they get the right coach? I really liked Frank & thought he was a good leader, but his offense was maddeningly predictable.
I’m hopeful, based on Steichen‘s success with Hurts, but we’ll see. I do think the roster has enough talent to be competitive.

If he's healthy, then yes. He was the 2nd best WR on the team last year, & Brisset has at least been better than Rivers lately.

This is what realignment should've looked like:
AFC
East:
New England
Buffalo
New York Jets
Baltimore- great new rivalries in North East
North:
Indianapolis- clearly proximity would creat great rivalries between fans
Cincinatti
Cleveland
Pittsburgh
South:
Tennessee
Miami
Jacksonville
Houston
West:
Kansas City
LA Chargers
Denver
Las Vegas
NFC:
East:
New York Giants
Washington
Philadelphia
Carolina
North:
Minnesota
Chicago
Detroit
Green Bay
South:
New Orleans
Tampa Bay
Dallas
Atlanta
West:
San Francisco
Seattle
Arizona
LA Rams
They obviously wanted to keep existing rivalries in place, but I think there would of been some new great rivalries.
Definitely agree on AFC. Batimore to East, Miami to South, & Colts to North just makes sense.

Tom Brady
Stephon Gilmore
Julian Edelman
Jamie Collins
D'Onta Hightower

I don't know what he'd cost, but I think Emmanuel Sanders would fit in nicely. Sounds like he's on the block, great route runner, great hands. JMO.

Well, considering that NE isn't on the Colts' schedule this year, and the likelihood that they'll end up with a bye, if the Colts even get to play the Pats, I'll be happy. Then you just take your chances, & I'm not counting them out.

I disagree with most of the predictions in the OP, but I gave it a "like", just for knowing the difference between "then" & "than".

Ya-sins bad positioning allowed that first td. I understand rookies will take their lumps but.....
Actually, a stupid penalty on the field goal allowed the 1st TD.

I think, if they weren't willing to take a chance on losing Kelly, they wouldn't have signed Hoyer for 3 years. I can't think of anyone on the roster that they would cut in favor of CK. But, in these 1st two weeks, if there's an injury & someone goes on IR, they might squeeze him in.

I would trade him only if...
1) Luck is a full go week one no pain anywhere.
2) If Kelly continues to play well.
3) After week 4.
4) we get a good enough offer for him or maybe package him with one of our seconds next year for a STUD D-lineman.
It's all about the bolded part. I don't think Ballard will shop JB at all this year, but if a desperate team calls, he'll listen.

At the end of last season, the Colts played 3 straight "win or go home" games, all on the road (@ Tenn, @ Houston, @ KC).
In those games, Luck threw 14 passes to Inman. He caught 13, for 185 yards and 2 TDs.
I get going young, I really do. And I get that he didn't stick in Chicago or N.E. But for the Colts, with the season on the line, he played as well as any other player on the roster.
He runs good routes, developed great chemistry with Luck, and he actually catches the football (72% catch rate last year). And he's not THAT old.
Maybe he does end up WR5 or 6. If so, you have yourself one heck of a group. JMO.

I know the young guys have a lot of potential, but here's a list of WRs on the Colts roster that we know are better than Inman right now:
T.Y. Hilton

Dontrelle Inman (I know I'm a broken record).

Dontrelle Inman : )

I'm sure there will be disagreement over which WRs make the roster. Heck, I'm still not happy that Inman wasn't re-signed.

What struck me looking back at that draft was that Bobby Wagner and Lavonte David went after Fleener.
-
I'd give them next year's 2nd round pick we got from Washington.
-
I think it was a mistake not going for 16-0. But that's not what costs them the SB. If I have to point to one thing, it's Caldwell coaching scared at the end of the 1st half. You have a lead, time on the clock, and maybe the best offense in football, and you try to run out the clock?
If the Colts go down & score on that drive, even a field goal, they likely go to halftime up 13-3, with momentum. Instead, it became obvious that one coach was playing to win, and one was just trying not to lose.
