  1. Michael Roos is going to be their left tackle.

Taylor Lewan is in the same situation that Riley Reiff was in, and will have to wait behind Roos this season. He'll get his shots as a #6 O-linemen, but nothing more unless there's injuries.

If anything, the Titans made the least amount of strides of the 3 other AFC South teams.

  2. I'd give my award to the Cleveland Browns, who found a stud CB and a potentially great QB, all on top of getting a 1st rounder in 2015, which could be a top 5 pick.

The Rams were great too in getting O-line and D-line help, but it's that 1st round pick in 2015 that puts the Browns' first round over the top.

  3. A lot happened in the first round, as it was filled with many trades and surprises.

The round started with Jadeveon Clowney going 1st overall, and it’s safe to say that no one was surprised by that. There were teams interested in trading up, but at the end of the day, the Texans stuck with their guns and added Clowney to a stacked defense led by JJ Watt.

The St Louis Rams then went with Greg Robinson, a big athletic offensive tackle. It was the safe pick, but in my opinion, they should have gone with Sammy Watkins and get a true playmaker. Either way, it looks like Robinson will start a right tackle and is definitely a good pick.

The first surprise of the night came with the Jaguars’ pick. The Jaguars came out of nowhere and selected Florida’s own Blake Bortles. The highly touted quarterback was the #2 QB on my board (13th best player overall) and although the Jaguars needed a quarterback badly, they reached for Bortles. Bortles could be good down the line, but with little supporting help, it will be hard to see Bortles having a positive rookie season.

The next surprise came when the Buffalo Bills traded up to get Sammy Watkins. The Bills saw Watkins fall out of the top 3 and jumped on the opportunity. They gave up a lot for Watkins, giving away next year’s first round pick, but if Watkins ends up like AJ Green, it will be worth it. Watkins is a star and will give EJ Manuel a great option to throw to.

The Raiders then made the right pick in Khalil Mack. Mack is a great pass rusher who helps a need on the Raiders. He could end up being one of the best young pass rushers in the league and could help the front 7 of the Raiders.

The Falcons then went with Jake Matthews. They went with the right position, as their offensive line was terrible, but personally, I had Taylor Lewan ranked higher and he would have been the better choice, but you just can’t go wrong with Jake Matthews, who should be a great left tackle for 10 years.

The 7th pick went to Tampa Bay, and although Johnny Manziel was in play, they went with the right pick and went with big-bodied receiver Mike Evans. Evans is a great receiver who should be the perfect #2 for the Bucs. He gives Josh McCown a big weapon, and he’s used to that after last season with the Bears.

The 8th pick went to the Cleveland Browns after trading up one spot (from the Bills’ old pick). Many thought that Manziel was the pick, but they surprised many and went with Justin Gilbert, who is the best cornerback in the draft. Gilbert helps out a need on that team and completes what should be a great secondary. That team is looking scary on defense, and as we’ll see later, well built on offense.

The 9th pick went to the Minnesota Vikings, and again, many thought they would go with Aaron Donald, but they went with Anthony Barr. Barr is a hit or miss prospect. He was the 11th best player on my big board, so this is good value, and he will replace Jared Allen. It almost seems like they came into the draft with Barr on their mind.

Rounding out the top 10 were the Detroit Lions, and they ended up going with Eric Ebron, which gives them another big target. That’s one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL.

Then, Taylor Lewan and Odell Beckham went to the Titans and Giants, respectively. Both these picks don’t get good grades from me. Lewan is a great left tackle and the best player on the board, but the Titans don’t need an offensive tackle. It’s clearly a longterm pick, but nevertheless, you have the 11th pick in the draft and many needs, go for something else. As for the Giants, Beckham was my 25th best player and I thought that Brandin Cooks would have been a better choice here or going with an interior defensive lineman like Aaron Donald. There were better choices out there for both teams.

After the Giants were the Rams, and they bolstered their defensive line by adding Aaron Donald. Aaron Donald was the best player on the board, and he enters a defensive line filled with great first round picks. He makes that defense even more dangerous.

At 14 were the Chicago Bears, who made a slight reach with Kyle Fuller. Getting a cornerback wasn’t the problem, but I don’t see that “Wow” factor with Fuller, but with the right development, he could be very good.

The Steelers then went ahead and surprised some with the selection of Ryan Shazier. The Steelers have some good pass rushers and picked Jarvis Jones last season. With Shazier they get a good pass rusher with great athleticism and he should help out that defense.

Then the Cowboys came on the clock, and Johnny Manziel was still on the board. The tension was in the air, and when Roger Goodell came to the microphone, the whole football world was listening. “With the 16th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select… Zack Martin, offensive tackle” and there was a collective sign of relief. The Cowboys made the right move and helped out their offensive line, by adding the perfect player for their right tackle spot. That’s a great offensive line.

At 17, the Ravens were on the board, and they picked the first linebacker in the first round since Ray Lewis in 1996. CJ Mosley was my 12th best player on my board, and the 2nd best at the time. That picks helps a big need and gives them a presence at linebacker.

At 18, the New York Jets made a smart play in Calvin Pryor, who was good value at that pick. Pryor is a good all around safety who could become a great safety in the NFL. He should help that defense that has a lot of problems beyond their defensive line.

Another big surprise came at 19 when the Dolphins picked Ja’Wuan James, a player I had given an early 3rd round grade. James was a very good right tackle at Tennessee, but I was very surprised to see him go at 19. He should compete for the starting job and win, but who knows if he’ll be good as a rookie.

The New Orleans Saints then made a big trade, moving up to 20 (and the Cards moving down to 27). They then took my favorite prospect in the draft in Brandin Cooks, and more importantly found a great target for Drew Brees. He’s a sleeper for offensive rookie of the year.

At 21, the Packers went with Ha Ha Clinton Dix, which was quite funny… I had to do that. All joking aside, this pick was no laughing matter. Ok, now I’m done. Clinton Dix is a top end safety who provides great help to the backend of the Packers’ secondary, which lacks quality safeties.

Then, the craziness happened at pick 22. The Cleveland Browns came out of nowhere to get the 22nd overall pick, and everyone knew who they were taking. It was Johnny Football time, and when that pick was announced, the fans went crazy. Manziel was a part of the Dawg Pound. The Browns had found their quarterback, and is the key to their success. A good year from him and watch out for the Browns. A bad one, and it’s the bottom of the league for the Browns… again. All in all, this was the right pick for the Browns.

Then picks 23 and 24 came up, the Chiefs took Dee Ford and the Bengals took Darqueze Dennard. Both picks solidied two pretty good position groups and will only help their defenses. Their impacts won’t be immediate, but they’ll be good longterm.

At 25, the Chargers then took Jason Verrett, who provides help at a postion of need. Verrett has all the talent and instincts of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, however he lacks the size. Nevertheless, this is a great pick for the Chargers.

At 26, the Eagles surprised everyone by taking Marcus Smith. I gave Smith an early 3rd round grade, and although he demonstrates great pass rushing ability, I’m not sold on him, and he shouldn’t have been picked in the 1st round. Nevertheless, they address their need at outside linebacker.

The Cardinals then went at 27, and most people expected them to take one of the top two quarterbacks on the board (Bridgewater and Carr). However, they went with Deone Bucannon, who I gave a late 2nd round grade. He hits hard and can play “center-field”. It’s actually a pretty good pick for the Cardinals and it fills a need, but this is a slight reach in terms of value.

The Panthers then went addressed their biggest need at wide receiver and got Kelvin Benjamin, a big bodied receiver with a high ceiling. With the weak receiving core on the Panther, he could and should come in and play from the beginning and provide a big target for Cam Newton.

At 29, the Patriots then took Dominique Easley, an explosive, quick defensive tackle from Florida who fits in very well in New England right next to Vince Wilfork. If healthy, Easley is a good player, but I thought the Patriots should ‘ve picked Timmy Jernigan, who is very good value at 29.

At 30, the 49ers took a safety for the 2nd year in the row. They took Jimmie Ward who could end up being the best safety in this draft. He reminds me of Earl Thomas and can play like him. With Bethea and Reid at safety, it seems like he could be a good candidate to play as a nickel his first couple of seasons and occasionally at safety. They’ll move him around.

At 31, the Broncos made a great value pick in Bradley Roby, my 19th best player on my board, and the 2nd best at the time. Roby helps a slight need at cornerback, and will be the long-term solution to anchor that secondary.

Finally, to end the first round, the Seahawks traded back and gave their pick to the Vikings. The Vikings were linked to a quarterback earlier in the round and didn’t pick one. However, with this pick, they went with Teddy Bridgewater, which in my opinion is outstanding value at 32 (10th best player in the draft in my opinion). Bridgewater will come in, contend for the starting job and probably win that battle. He’s very talented and could be the long-term franchise starter they’ve always wanted.

The 1st round started and ended with a bang, and in the middle was a lot of surprises. There are plenty of talented players in the 2nd round and you should expect to see a lot of trades in the upper portion of the 2nd round. The Texans have the first pick, and expect them to take a familiar last name.

The team who gained the most was the Cleveland Browns, who got Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel on top of receiving a 1st round pick in 2015. Knowing the Bills, that could be a top 5 pick.

The team that gained the least was the Tennessee Titans, who although got a great player in Taylor Lewan, will have to keep him on the bench for at least this season. Other players in the 1st round should have an impact on their respective teams.

Best Value Pick: Aaron Donald – Defensive Tackle – 13th Overall: St Louis Rams

Worst Value Pick: Ja’Wuan James – Offensive Tackle – 19th Overall: Miami Dolphins

Most Surprising Pick: Marcus Smith – Defensive End / Outside Linebacker – 26th Overall: Philadelphia Eagles & Blake Bortles – Quarterback – 3rd Overall: Jacksonville Jaguars

    Winning Team: Cleveland Browns

    Losing Team: Tennessee Titans

    Best Players Available (Next 10):

    23. Kony Ealy – DE – Missouri

    24. Ra’shede Hageman – DT – Minnesota

    26. Timmy Jernigan – DT – Florida State

    27. Louis Nix III – DT – Notre Dame

    29. Derek Carr – QB – Fresno State

    30. Kyle Van Noy – OLB – BYU

    32. Jace Amaro – TE – Texas Tech

    33. Stephon Tuitt – DT – Notre Dame

    35. Marqise Lee – WR – USC

  4. 2014 NFL Mock Draft 4.0

    Trades:

    - Atlanta Falcons 2014 1st Round Pick (6th Overall), 2015 1st Round Pick, 2014 2nd Round à Houston Texans 2014 1st Round Pick (1st Overall)

    Round 1

1st Overall Pick – Atlanta Falcons (from Houston Texans)

Jadeveon Clowney – Defensive End – South Carolina

Clowney is a freak athlete who could change games in one single play. He’s an instinctive player who will read plays and running backs very well. He’s a rare defensive player that you may only see once in a decade. Teams will be trading up for him.

2nd Overall Pick – St Louis Rams (from Washington Redskins)

Sammy Watkins – Wide Receiver – Clemson

Watkins is one of the best receivers to come out of college in the last few seasons thanks to very good athleticism, explosiveness and flawless receiving skills. He need to work on his fundamentals, especially his route running, but this guy is probably going to be a star at the next level, and Sam Bradford could use an all around threat to throw to.

3rd Overall Pick – Jacksonville Jaguars

Teddy Bridgewater – Quarterback – Louisville

Bridgewater is a very technically sound quarterback who makes some very good reads with the football. He has the ability to become a franchise quarterback for almost any team. The Jags desperately need a QB and he, in my opinion, is the best one on the board, despite the iffy pro day.

4th Overall Pick – Cleveland Browns

Blake Bortles – Quarterback – UCF

Bortles improved his stock with a great performance at the combine, and he could be the guy the Browns need. He’s a big-bodied quarterback with a strong arm that can stretch the field. He’d be the perfect guy to throw Josh Gordon the ball.

5th Overall Pick – Oakland Raiders

Khalil Mack – Outside Linebacker / Defensive End – Buffalo

Khalil Mack has been receiving a lot of attention, despite the fact he’s from a small school. Mack is an athletic, lean athlete with very good explosiveness and bend. He’s agile and can get around the corner with quickness and with ease. He’s going to be a very good player at the next level and should be in a few pro bowls.

6th Overall Pick – Houston Texans (from Atlanta Falcons)

    Johnny Manziel – Quarterback – Texas A&M

Believe it or not, I think Johnny Manziel is less of a risk than Blake Bortles, but Bortles could end up being the better QB, which is why he goes ahead of Manziel. However, Manziel is one of the best dual threat QBs to come out of college in the last few seasons. He has a very strong arm, and has extremely quick feet. He’s going to be a very good QB in the NFL.

7th Overall Pick – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mike Evans – Wide Receiver – Texas A&M

Having Mike Evans as the number 2 receiver shows just how talented this receivers class is. The Bucs traded their current #2 receiver Mike Williams and they have no one slated to compliment Vincent Jackson. Evans is a big bodied receiver who saved Johnny Manziel on numerous occasions during his career at Texas A&M. He could be the huge playmaker they need to get their offense to the next level.

8th Overall Pick – Minnesota Vikings

Aaron Donald – Defensive Tackle – Pittsburgh

The Vikings lost the Williams wall over the last few seasons (Kevin this season), and now they have a hole up the middle. Aaron Donald impressed everyone with his amazing combine and he put together a solid 2013 campaign to back his combine. He has very good potential and could start from Day 1 for the Vikings.

9th Overall Pick – Buffalo Bills

Greg Robinson – Offensive Tackle – Auburn

It may seem crazy that a guy like Robinson falls to Buffalo. The fact of the matter is, if St Louis doesn’t pick him (which I think they shouldn’t), then the 8 teams above won’t need to pick him as offensive tackle isn’t a need. For Buffalo, offensive tackle is a very big need as their QBs were sacked 46 times last year (in the top 4). Robinson could come in and dominate from Day 1; he’s that special.

10th Overall Pick – Detroit Lions

Justin Gilbert – Cornerback – Oklahoma State

The Lions lack a consistent and strong secondary. Rashean Mathis was their top cornerback last season, and although he didn’t play badly, his career is almost over and he’s a free agent. They need a cornerback desperately. They have a great front 7, but they need a secondary to complete that defense and make them a playoff team.

11th Overall Pick – Tennessee Titans

Anthony Barr – Outside Linebacker – UCLA

Anthony Barr is now in 2nd place in the Barr vs Mack race, but it doesn’t mean he’s not a good player. His stock has fallen a bit in the last couple of months, but he’s still a very athletic player who’s learning the position. His potential is endless and he could be a stud in the Titans’ new 3-4 system. Shaun Phillips isn’t going to be around for much longer and I don’t think Wimbley is a 3 down starter. Barr is the guy they need.

12th Overall Pick – New York Giants

Eric Ebron – Tight End – North Carolina

I’m not a big fan of drafting tight ends early, but Eric Ebron is a rare tight end. Ebron completely tore up the combine, and had a very productive season with UNC. He could be the perfect playmaker for Eli Manning.

13th Overall Pick – St Louis Rams

Taylor Lewan – Offensive Tackle – Michigan

I see Lewan as the number 2 offensive tackle, and his only weaknesses are minor ones that could be corrected. He has the ability to be a top 5 left tackle in the league, and if drafted by the Rams, could start out playing the right side, and has the run blocking skills and strength to be a good right tackle (to start out his career, before making the switch).

14th Overall Pick – Chicago Bears

    Ha’sean Clinton Dix – Safety – Alabama

The Bears haven’t had a good safety in several years. Major Wright was one of the worst starting safeties in the league last season. haha Clinton Dix was a playmaker with Alabama, and could be the perfect piece for this defense.

15th Overall Pick – Pittsburgh Steelers

CJ Mosley – Inside Linebacker – Alabama

The Steelers regressed on defense last season and that’s because they didn’t have a presence up the middle. Timmons was decent last season, but they need someone with a bigger impact. Mosley is an instinctive, athletic linebacker who can make plays and the read the field. He’s someone to watch for in the defensive rookie of the year race.

16th Overall Pick – Dallas Cowboys

Kony Ealy – Defensive End – Missouri

The Cowboys are still trying to get comfortable in their 4-3 system, and they need more playmakers on that defense. They can add a big piece to their defense by drafting Ealy, a difference maker who can come in and play right away.

17th Overall Pick – Baltimore Ravens

Jake Matthews – Offensive Tackle – Texas A&M

The Ravens don’t have many tackles on the roster, much less good ones. They have Monroe at left tackle, but they don’t have anyone slated at right tackle and the current guys on the roster aren’t capable of manning that spot. Matthews is one of the most consistent players in the country and can have a huge impact on any team.

18th Overall Pick – New York Jets

Darqueze Dennard – Cornerback – Michigan State

The Jets lost Cromartie and Revis the year before, and although they did draft Milliner last season, they need someone else in that secondary, because it’s a mess. Dennard is one of the best players available and was a stud on the best defense in the country. He read plays perfect and has the great athleticism you look for in a cornerback.

19th Overall Pick – Miami Dolphins

Zack Martin – Offensive Tackle – Notre Dame

The Dolphins spent big money on Brandon Albert, and he’ll be the left tackle, but the Dolphins desperately need a right tackle, and Martin is a talented tackle. He’s one of the best in this draft. Drafting Martin would shore up the majority of their offensive line.

20th Overall Pick – Arizona Cardinals

Ryan Shazier – Outside Linebacker – Ohio State

The Cardinals spent a lot of money on offense this offseason, and now it’s time for them to improve their front 7. Their defensive line is very good, but they lack edge defenders. Shazier is ridiculously athletic and had a huge impact for the Buckeyes. He would become the Cardinals starting OLB and have a big impact over time.

21st Overall Pick – Green Bay Packers

Calvin Pryor – Safety – Louisville

The Packers get a bit of a gift here in Pryor. The Packers lack a presence at safety and only have 2 safeties on the roster. Pryor is a good all around safety and could give the Packers a dangerous advantage on defense.

22nd Overall Pick – Philadelphia Eagles

Louis Nix III – Defensive Tackle – Notre Dame

It’s hard to have a successful 3-4 defense without a strong nose tackle. The Eagles have built a decent defense, but they need that big body up the middle, and that’s exactly what Nix is, he’s a big guy who can plug up the middle and cause problems.

23rd Overall Pick – Kansas City Chiefs

Brandin Cooks – Wide Receiver – Oregon State

Brandin Cooks is my favorite prospect in the draft, and have been saying that since early October, where he was dubbed a 5th round pick. Cooks is a slightly undersized receiver who plays much bigger and has all the intangibles you expect from an all pro. He could be a star at the next level and he’d be the perfect compliment to Dwayne Bowe.

24th Overall Pick – Cincinnati Bengals

Bradley Roby – Cornerback – Ohio State

Roby is a very instinctive cornerback, who surprised me at the combine, putting together one of the best performances amongst the defensive backs. Roby can come in and have an impact right away and could be the perfect player to compliment Leon Hall.

25th Overall Pick – San Diego Chargers

Jason Verrett – Cornerback – TCU

Verrett is one of my favorite defensive backs, as he’s extremely athletic and has great instincts. The Chargers could use a playmaker next to Eric Weddle in their secondary.  The Chargers need some secondary help and he could help right away.

26th Overall Pick – Cleveland Browns (from Indianapolis Colts)

Odell Beckham Jr – Wide Receiver – LSU

Beckham is a talented receiver who made a lot of noise at LSU. He’s good all around player (must work on his route running) who could have an impact from Day 1. If the Browns draft a quarterback, expect them to give that QB some (other than Josh Gordon) weapons to work with.

27th Overall Pick – New Orleans Saints

Kyle Van Noy – Outside Linebacker – BYU

The Saints got rid of Will Smith and essentially have no consistent players on the roster to man one of the edge defenders spots. Van Noy is an underrated prospect that has been consistently good for the last few seasons. He could start for them right away.

28th Overall Pick – Carolina Panthers

Lamarcus Joyner – Cornerback / Safety – Florida State

The Panthers lost some key players in their secondary this offseason, and have done very little to replace those lost players. Joyner is a versatile player who can play both safety and cornerback, but could provide a lot of help at cornerback.

29th Overall Pick – New England Patriots

Timmy Jernigan – Defensive Tackle – Florida State

The Patriots lost Wilfork last season to injury and had a lot of trouble trying to fill his hole. He’s back this year, but has probably one good year left in him. Jernigan is a big defensive tackle who was the anchor of the Seminoles’ front 7 and made a ton of big plays in the latter portion of the season. He could start right next to Wilfork from Day 1.

    30th Overall Pick – San Francisco 49ers

Stephon Tuitt – Defensive End – Notre Dame

Justin Smith is creeping closer to retirement, and they don’t really have anyone to replace him, or to rotate in right now. In short, they lack depth on their defensive line. Tuitt is a very big, relatively athletic force who did a very nice job while at Notre Dame. He could end up being a star with the proper coaching and training.

31st Overall Pick – Denver Broncos

Chris Borland – Inside Linebacker – Wisconsin

Borland is a smart linebacker with above average intangibles. The Broncos desperately need an inside linebacker after losing Wesley Woodyard. Borland could come in, make their front 7 respectable. Borland could start from Day 1 and have a big impact next season.

32nd Overall Pick – Seattle Seahawks

Dee Ford – Defensive End – Auburn

The Seahawks lost Chris Clemons and Red Bryant this offseason and have a bit of a hole at defensive end. They do have Avril and Bennett, who are both starters, but they have no depth and they have no long-term answer. Ford had some monsters games this year as well as a big Senior Bowl, and could surprise many next season.

    Round 2

33rd Overall Pick – Houston Texans

David Yankey – Offensive Guard – Stanford

Yankey is a versatile offensive lineman who would provide great help to the Texans interior o-line, who have a hole at guard with Wade Smith departing.

34th Overall Pick – Washington Redskins

    Ra’shede Hageman – Defensive End – Minnesota

The Redskins need some help up front, and although adding Jason Hatcher was good, they need a guy to compliment him on the other side, and Hagemen is fully capable of playing in a 3-4 and is perhaps the best player available on the board.

35th Overall Pick – Cleveland Browns

Jimmie Ward – Safety – Northern Illinois

The Browns need someone to play next to Donte Whitner, and after spending two picks on offense; it’s time to give the defense some love. Ward is one of the best available here.

36th Overall Pick – Oakland Raiders

Marqise Lee – Wide Receiver – USC

Lee drops a bit here and is a perfect fit for the Raiders who could use another receiver to play with James Jones. He’s one of the most dynamic receivers in this class.

37th Overall Pick – Houston Texans (from Atlanta Falcons)

Jace Amaro – Tight End – Texas Tech

This pick makes sense. Amaro is one of the top players on the board and he would give new QB Manziel a big target to throw to (with Graham) at tight end.

38th Overall Pick – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Xavier Su’a Filo – Offensive Guard – UCLA

The Bucs got rid of Davin Joseph and they need a new guard to come in and protect McCown. Su’a Filo is arguably the top guard in the draft.

39th Overall Pick – Jacksonville Jaguars

Cyrus Kouandjio – Offensive Tackle – Alabama

The Jaguars could use another tackle to compliment Luke Joeckel because they don’t have a good one on the roster. Kouandjio has great size and potential in the NFL.

40th Overall Pick – Minnesota Vikings

Derek Carr – Quarterback – Fresno State

A team will definitely trade up to take Carr in the middle of the first round, but I don’t want to start predicting trades this late, so because of that, Carr, falls to 40 in a minimal trade 1st round.

41st Overall Pick – Buffalo Bills

Tre Mason – Running Back – Auburn

The Bills always like to have depth at running back and with Fred Jackson very close to retirement; it leaves them with almost no one behind CJ Spiller. They’ll need a guy to replace Fred Jackson and Mason is the best running back in the draft.

42nd Overall Pick – Tennessee Titans

Kyle Fuller – Cornerback – Virginia Tech

The Rams could use some help at cornerback as Finnegan is gone, and Janoris Jenkins doesn’t seem like a good fit as a #1 cornerback.

43rd Overall Pick – New York Giants

Scott Crichton – Defensive End – Oregon State

The Giants could use another pass rusher to play across from JPP and Crichton is an underrated defensive end who can start from Day 1.

44th Overall Pick – St Louis Rams

Pierre Desir  – Cornerback – Lindenwood

I know the Dolphins just signed Finnegan, but he’s not a very good option, and the Dolphins did lose Nolan Caroll in the offseason. Getting Desir gives them a long-term option at cornerback.

45th Overall Pick – Detroit Lions

Davante Adams – Wide Receiver – Fresno State

The Lions added Golden Tate, and they obviously have Megatron, but they could still use another receiver to give Matthew Stafford some options. They need to give him more options other than Megatron.

46th Overall Pick – Pittsburgh Steelers

Joel Bitonio – Offensive Tackle – Nevada

Bitonio was a great player at Nevada, and is a very clean prospect. He has very good athleticism and is smart. He could be the perfect player for the Steelers, who need an offensive tackle badly.

47th Overall Pick – Baltimore Ravens

Daquan Jones – Defensive Tackle/Defensive End – Penn State

Jones is a big-bodied defensive lineman who was very good at Penn State. The Ravens lost Arthur Jones this offseason and have not done anything to replace him.

48th Overall Pick – Dallas Cowboys

Kelvin Benjamin – Wide Receiver – Florida State

Robinson has some technicalities that he needs to fix up (catching with his body and explosiveness to name a couple), but he has great potential and is a playmaker.

49th Overall Pick – New York Jets

Austin Seferian Jenkins – Tight End – Washington

The Jets only have Cumberland, and he hasn’t done much in the last 2 years. They have no depth. Seferian Jenkins would add a big target to an offense that has done their best to try and rebuild.

50th Overall Pick – Miami Dolphins

Bashaud Breeland – Cornerback – Clemson

The Saints are doing a lot to fix their defense. They added some players to their front 7 and they added Byrd to their safety duo. Now, they should add Breeland to their cornerback group and he could have an impact in his rookie year.

51st Overall Pick – Chicago Bears

Dominique Easley – Defensive Tackle – Florida

The Bears lost Henry Melton this offseason and lack a big presence up the middle. Easley would help fill that need and play extremely well next to Allen.

52nd Overall Pick – Arizona Cardinals

Bishop Sankey – Running Back -- Washington State

The Cardinals only have Ellington and don’t have a good change of pace back. Sankey is a great, quick running back who could end up seeing the majority of the loads by the end of the season.

53rd Overall Pick – Green Bay Packers

Donte Moncrief – Wide Receiver – Ole Miss

The Packers lost James Jones this offseason and now they are starting to get short on receivers. The Packers love to draft receivers, and Moncrief is one of the best players on the board and can contribute from Day 1.

54th Overall Pick – Philadelphia Eagles

Allen Robinson – Wide Receiver – Penn State

The Eagles could use a receiver to replace Desean Jackson. He won’t need to be relied on from day 1, and could be developed into an animal.

55th Overall Pick – Cincinnati Bengals

Jimmy Garoppolo – Quarterback – Eastern Illinois

How many years does Andy Dalton have left? He only has one on his contract, and who knows if he’ll be back. Garoppolo is an underrated QB who with the right development can be a starter in this league.

56th Overall Pick – San Francisco 49ers (from Kansas City Chiefs)

Demarcus Lawrence – Outside Linebacker – Boise State

Lawrence is a talented pass rusher who could surprise many in his first year. With Aldon Smith’s future being hazy, getting a guy like Lawrence early on can be a big positive going forward.

57th Overall Pick – San Diego Chargers

    Marcus Martin – Center/Offensive Guard – USC

The Chargers need to do whatever they can to improve their offensive line. It got much better last season, but they need a little more help inside. The Falcons did a pick like this a couple of years with Peter Konz and he worked out pretty well. The Chargers should do the same.

58th Overall Pick – New Orleans Saints

Keith McGill – Cornerback – Utah State

McGill has a rare combination of size, athleticism, explosion and arm length that teams look for. He should help out the Saints at a postion they need help at. McGill could be their longterm starter.

59th Overall Pick – Indianapolis Colts

Deone Buccanon – Safety – Washington State

The Colts need a safety very badly. Even Coach Pagano said that they’ll look to the draft for a safety. Buccanon has very good size and arm length. He was also one of the top performers at the combine and is great in coverage.

60th Overall Pick – Carolina Panthers

Antonio Richardson – Offensive Tackle – Tennessee

The Panthers need a right tackle very badly and Richardson has the ability to be a starting right tackle from training camp. He’s one of the best players on the board and would make perfect sense for the Panthers.

    61st Overall Pick – San Francisco 49ers

Stanley Jean Baptiste – Cornerback – Nebraska

The only weak spot on the 49ers defense is their cornerback group. That group has regressed over the last couple of seasons and they need to add some young talent to that pool. Baptiste has great size and strength to be good in press coverage.

62nd Overall Pick – New England Patriots

Troy Niklas – Tight End – Notre Dame

The Patriots have no good tight ends behind Gronkowski, and if he goes down, they’re in trouble. Niklaus is a big, pass catching tight end who has great potential in the NFL and can be a very good option for Brady.

63rd Overall Pick – Denver Broncos

Jerry Attaochu – Outside Linebacker / Defensive End – Georgia Tech

Attaochu is not a perfect fit with the Broncos, but as we’ve come to learn with the Broncos, they don’t mind too often. Attaochu is a great pass rusher, and can be a good player to compliment Demarcus Ware.

64th Overall Pick – Seattle Seahawks

Gabe Jackson – Offensive Guard – Mississippi State

The Seahawks lost Paul McQuistan in the offseason and their interior offensive linemen aren’t great. Jackson would be a good option for them, and he could start in his rookie year.

  5. The top 3 things I look forward to every year (besides the super bowl and draft)

    1. Christmas

    2. Summer Vacation

    3. The Release of Andy's NFL Draft Preview Guide

    haha thanks!

Did a 10 minute skim through of this, and I gotta hand it to you, very well done.  I agree with a lot of what you said in the rankings and how you ranked them. So much so, that I'll print this out while I watch the draft and mark guys off that have been picked follow the draft with it.  And really, I'm not just saying that, I'm dead serious.  If I took the time to rank positions and come up with my own board, I'd imagine it'd be close to this.  There's some guys that I disagree with you on, but it's mostly some of the later round stuff - and who can predict that?  It's hard enough to do the first 2 or 3 rounds, it gets all over the place after that.

PS.  High five for the Terrence Brooks to Colts in the mock.

    Thanks I really appreciate it!!

  6. Every year I enjoy doing this (first time posting this on the forum). I usually get 1 or 2 of these on the head, and completely miss out on the others. Let's see what happens this year:

    1. The Texans will not pick 1st overall.

    2. No running back will be chosen in the first 40 picks.

    3. Jake Matthews will not go in the top 10

    4. Colts will not pick at the 59th spot...

5....You'll see them picking a bit earlier.

    6. There will be no more than 3 trades in the first round.

    7. Teddy Bridgewater will go in the top 5.

    8. No guards will be selected in the 1st round (Tackles eventually switching to guards do not count, coughZackMartincough)

    9. 4 quarterbacks will go in the Top 20

    10. There will be more than 10 references (ESPN and NFL Network broadcasts combined) to the movie Draft Day (good movie, but they're talking about it too much).

    What are yours?

  7. Andy.......

An impressive piece of work.   Congrats, I hope this is a big success for you.

I've only had a chance to scroll down through about half of it.

I'm assuming that Purifoy at 42 is a typo?     Because in your section about cornerbacks,  you have him listed at 12th with a 4th round grade.    So, seeing him at 42,  high in the 2nd round,  didn't add up for me.

Typo?     Did you mean someone else?

Again.... thanks for sharing this....    so far, so good....

NOTE:    I see that you've now responded to my question and did so while I was writing it.....

Yeah, if you see my Mock Draft today or tomorrow, he won't be there.

As I told Dustin, I made the mock draft before the CB/S rankings, so some people are out of place.

Wish I caught this a bit earlier, but whatever, the rankings are the lifeblood of this guide.

    Thanks for reading!
