  1. Thanks Colts for coming out and showing some heart and pride. Run defense A plus! The running game was alot better. Painter, I think you got your chance and you ran with it. The linebacking core was top notch. Angerer is going to be our best linebacker for years to come. Great job guys! Defensive line, wonderfull game. Just don't stunt anymore.

  2. Caldwell is clueless, cant coach, however if they offered me the job I would take it too. I would definately be clueless. The blame goes to Polian sr. I'm really surprised Marv Levy could work for Polian, he doesn't seem like a yes man to me. Anyway, Dungy, moore, mudd were men,so they had to leave. Polian jr. will not be any better, nut doesn't fall far from the tree.

  3. Its time to think about the future. Wouldn't it be better to pick the best player in the draft, especially at the QB position, than to patch a team up with a number of players to give an aging Manning another shot at a superbowl. If you pick first in every round, the defensive problems could be fixed or improved at the same time. If you don't there will be a big let down sometime sooner than we think. What if the Colts had stuck with Harbaugh and traded away the first pick and built the team around him? Some how I see Jacksonville getting luck with Moore becoming OC and wipping our * for the next 15 years.

  4. Just how freakin bad would you have to play to get into Caldwel's imaginary doghouse. It's unimaginable to think he has the emotional tools to conjure up " a doghouse". Lincinbach manages to elude the doghouse. I think the doghouse is owned and run by Polian and Caldwell cleans the facilities.

  5. It appears the only improvements the Colts successfully executed was the cheerleading squad. There are some real stunners this year. Smuggle in your own booze, sit back and watch the ladies work. Wear those dark sunglasses so the old lady won't catch on to what your looking at. :cheer:

  6. I wouldn't want to be more aggressive when my team is tackling like pop warner kids. The defense tackled terribly last week. Peyton Hillis might have broken more tackles this week than the Texans did, but we kept him bottled up, and much of his yardage was earned by leaning and falling forward after a stop. That's what 250 pounds gets you. But the tackling was much better, with just a couple of exceptions.

We also blew a couple of coverages in both man and zone, this week and last. I wouldn't feel comfortable dialing up pressure, playing Cover 1 or especially Cover 0 when the secondary and linebackers are making mistakes in simple zone coverage. I hate the cushions, but if they prevent blown coverages over the top, then I get it.

I agree with you on Coyer. He won us the game against the Patriots in 2009 with his blitzing on 3rd and 4th down. I've said this many times. He regressed last year, and the coverage suffered. We even gave up big yardage against max protect offense, which should never happen when you play zone defense. Hopefully he'll open the playbook a little more, though I don't think it will happen against the Steelers next week. I think we'll look to contain Roethlisberger and play conservative in the secondary. I don't like it, but I don't blame him, not when we're struggling with our tackling and basic coverages.

The Colts defense tackles like pop warner kids because of coaching. And they are not much bigger or stronger. this Club is soft, small and unispired. There needs to be a change in philosophy and attitude. Nonsense huh. Nonsense is putting lipstick on a pig and thinking your with the best date in the house. No matter how you paint this defense, it does not work.

  7. Get Fisher or Gruden in here. Let one of them hire thier people for coaching. Teams play with a coaches personality. The defense could be so much better with a nasty attitude. Sanders was the only guy with this attitude. It was infectious and everyone played better. Let one of these coaches work his magic with these guys.Dungy was quiet, yet had everyones attention and respect. Caldwell is low key, but something is missing. He may be a hard worker and all that, but I do not think he can inspire players to "work" for him like a great boss can. Remember, these are professonal athletes with lots of money. Love of the game is what seperates the good from the exceptional player. Inspiration is what they need. Even with manning, some of these problems would have raised its head anyway.

  8. 10 years of picking late and not picking well the last 4 years, a serious down grade in coaching and a failure to see any of this coming has come home to stay. "We dont need good players, only adaqate." " Colts dont need a defense, we will out score everyone".

  9. Go stick your head in the sand. It is embarrassing, seriously.

It has taken Caldwell 3 years to get the personnel around him that he wants, and his franchise player went down. He had a team with the largest IR list in history last year and still managed to get the defense to shore up its holes for 4 games and put us in the playoffs. The same players he had before, working in the same scheme, put it together against the best rushing teams in the NFL and held onto those games for us. Caldwell was a part of that, whether you like it or not. He's done more to coach us to wins while our offense was missing pieces everywhere than his questionable timeouts ever did to lose us games (no, he didn't lose us the Jets game).

While some of you have that cute ability to point out his fewer than a handful of mistakes, most of you just don't like him on principle. You expected a big name, spitting, screaming, loser of a coach who seemed like the sexy pick. You got a relative unknown, position coach getting his shot at the big time. Who cares what his record was at Wake Forest? This isn't Wake Forest, this isn't college football. Bill Belichick had a terrible record with the Cleveland Browns. I guess the Patriots should have dumped him when they had the chance.

Do you really want to bring in a new head coach now? Really? You want to spend 3 more years adjusting the schemes and personnel, all the while watching Manning, Freeney, etc., age without getting another championship as everything shifts to transition mode again? Because that's what will happen. That's what happens everywhere, except in EXTREMELY rare situations. We'd be watching a mess on Sundays while the new coach brings in his guys and changes everything all over again.

"The new coach would just let Peyton do his thing..." Great, so what does he do with our defensive personnel? Build a 3-4? Yeah, that happens overnight. Have them learn an entirely new system and philosophy? If the coach is going to let things run as they are until Peyton's done, else he wins no more championships or even gets a shot at one before retiring, then what difference does it make if it's a big name doing nothing, or Caldwell doing nothing? A screamer or a blinker?

Did we look bad week one? Sure, but so did a lot of other "good" teams. At least we didn't get beat 35-7 with all of our best players on the field. At least we didn't possess one of the deepest, and most balanced rosters in football only to get annihilated 41-7 in our home opener. We could have been responsible for letting a rookie, non-QB throw for over 400 yards against us.

The lockout has had ill effects on everyone; for some, it's worse than others. We're also down the best player to see a football field.

I will close with a dose of harsh medicine that some of us - myself included - need to hear, but will never concede to:

Most of you know nothing about coaching. You have no ability to observe, grade, or recognize it if it were blinking at you all day.

Stop pretending you know better. You don't. Al Davis knows more about running a team than you do.

Stop acting like Irsay and the Polians are just incompetent, stubborn buffoons who are letting it happen out of spite, or pride, or whatever nonsense you've come up with. We've been one of the best and most consistently exceptional organizations for more than 10 years now, and it's not JUST because of Peyton Manning.

This isn't homerism, or a glass-half-full rhetoric. Opinions, emotions, thoughts... wonderful, though sometimes self-betraying traits. That's what the forums are for, right? Some of you just need to stop talking like you know how to fix things. Don't make it sound like you're smart, and they are dumb. If it's an opinion, state it as such. The rest is garbage.

Seeing a person miss the entire reason for a forum, wasting time with a novel that does nothing but show brown on you nose for the coaches and staff, mirrors stupidity. What should be discussed on this forum? Uniform colors? God forbid we ask for improvement on a poorly run franchise that has underachived in every way. Case Closed! Homer.

  10. I think Caldwell's stupidity and Polians inability to work with a coach with a mind of his own is at the heart of a disfunctional front office. I believe Moore and Mudd and others could not work in this environment and "Retired" only to work with other teams. Irsay lets his Managers manage and stays out of the way. I hope he gets involved and makes some decisive moves in house soon. This crap could go on into next year and beyond. The Colts have lost most of what has made them great. Coaches and players.

  11. It's not fearmongering, it's reality. "Other" Colts fans get upset whenever one criticizes the club for any reason. You get labled a non or bandwagon fan. All this critisism is warranted and will be here all year. The Moderator will do her best to stomp it out. Fact is without Manning to hide this teams problems, it will become abundantly clear that the coaching staff and General managers have lost touch with pro football. Years have gone by with the same problems not addressed. How do you think the Bills managed to loose four superbowls in a row? Who was in charge during this time? lets call this a loss, Change coaching staff, fire all the general managers. Use this year to evaluate the players we have. Let the new regime draft for the future. Sucking going forward is better than sucking and going backwards. We are doing the later every year.

  12. So when we lose a starter, you want to just not fill his position and play with 10 guys on the field...and then 9....and then 8....etc....etc. Seriously? That's your solution?

Well you showed your smarts by counting down. Obviously this is not his intention. I think it would be better to have people on this team that could start on any other team. There may be 5 or 6 who could.

  13. These are the times when the team needs us fans to give them support. Yes, this team will struggle without Manning this year. I do believe once Collins gets into rhythm we will be okay. Its only one game of the season, it won't break us. But we need to give the team much needed support. This year might be a dreadful year who knows we might not go the playoffs who knows? I think we can, I would like to see more games then just this one. See how they perform. But we still need to show our support to them team, throughout this season win or lose.

What does a bunch of high paid guys need for support? Its either do your job or get out. Do you not pay a small fortune for tickets and jerseys? Should we all run down to the airport and carry thier luggage? I should say its not thier fault tho. No one on this team or any other team chose to play here or any where else. General managers and coaches build teams or like ours, don't.

  14. This loss has nothing to do with a rusty GB. And yes, the season is not over. It is a fact, Since Manning came to the Colts, they have drafted no better than 25th pick. This nice run of playoff seasons has been expensive. They have gotten lucky with a few undrafted free agents. Defensive and offensive lineman are not a dime a dozen. The above average athletes get drafted. Granted, I did not get to see the game. Direct tv was screwed up for most of the game. I hope they looked better than the score. My point is..... The Dolphin's Marino always carried that team to 10 plus wins a year. They never got a good running game and thier defense was just like the colts. Now here we are, no next man up philosphy is going to work. Please, lets get a coaching staff to build a solid team from top to bottom. If they could build a solid team with a great GB instead of a great GB with average players, the sky would be the limit.
