And their fans are furious. Saying they got played by Manning and everything.
They should be glad he waved to them...
-
I'm excited for him to be on defense more than special teams.
I'm glad we have a body in that spot, and he has experience as a SS. Which is what we need. I don't think he'll be a huge upgrade over Bullit, though, at all.
-
you'd have to possess knowledge of the entire notre dame special teams unit to base any judgement off that
Well, either he or their blocking stunk. The blocking in Indy is not fantastic by any stretch of the imagination, so I don't expect him to do much better here.

Averaged 6.3 on PR as a Raven (but only on 16 returns). Averaged 21.8 on kick returns in his career as a Raven (14 returns). That's not a whole lot of returns, so you don't have an exceptionally clear picture of how he'll do, but it does give some encouragement that at least we are addressing our needs, as a return specialist has been sorely needed for years.
-
Only averaged 11.5 per punt return and 16.2 on kick returns his entire college career at Notre Dame. Joe Lefeged for the Colts last year averaged 18.6. Not trying to throw a wet blanket on things, just keeping folks informed.
-
Average pay as a Raven was 553,333, so he was an inexpensive option as well, hopefully.

I wish there was no 'like' limit. I would like every post on this topic just in thanks to everyone who took the two seconds out of their time to care for someone they've never even met. I have a great deal more respect for many members on this forum now, and I appreciate each and every one of you who commented.

Yes. He bothers me more than probably any other player in the league.
-
Lol didnt the rams have one of the worst rush defenses in the nfl?
Yes. 29th ranked rushing D in the league. That's 152 yards a game. They gave 25 points a game last year as well. Their defense is still pretty good, though.
-
there are other needs more important than center, for example wide receiver or nose tackle
They are addressed appropriately as well.
An offensive line is key to a team's running game and passing game, in short, they are the key to a good offense. Right now is the time to draft a good offensive player in a high round to eventually or immediately replace Jeff Saturday. Blake, the center from Baylor, is a good run blocking center and is sure to have a major impact on the Colts future running game.
Defensive tackle is addressed in the following round, and there are still two quality players available in Alameda Ta’amu and Derek Wolfe.
Wide receiver is pretty much set at this point with Wayne and Collie. I do still draft a talented and speedy slot receiver though in round 6. With the new-found emphasis of the Colts sure to be on the running game, a three receiver set will not be used as often, but with these players, we would have a talented corps.

So sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

if the draft experts r correct peter konz is a low 1st high 2nd round pick.Konz won't make it out of the first.
And that's why Blake is there.
Also, the Colts need a CB worse than they need a center, so I figured why waist a 2nd rounder on a center and miss out on the excellent cornerback class. Still, center is a need, so if Blake is still there in the first pick of the third, he is a must-take.

Please keep in mind that this does not include any compensatory draft picks, or reflect any trading that the Colts might do, up, or down. The reason for multiple names on every pick (with the exception of Round 1) is that the player of preferred choice may or may not be available by the time the Colts are again on the clock. If there are any questions as to why I selected as I did, please leave a comment here or send a message to me and I will address it at a later date. (That is, if I can answer it. If not---I'll just ignore you! )
With that said, here we go!
Round 1: Pick 1: Andrew Luck (QB---Stanford)
Round 2: Pick 34: Dre Kirkpatrick (CB---Alabama), Stephen Gilmore (CB---South Carolina), Janoris Jenkins (CB---North Alabama)
Round 3: Pick 65: Peter Konz (C---Wisconsin), Phillip Blake (C---Baylor)
Round 4: Pick 97: Alameda Ta’amu (DT---Washington), Brandon Taylor, (FS---LSU), Derek Wolfe (DE/DT---Cincinnati)
Round 5: Pick 128: Shea McClellin (OLB---Boise State), Cordarro Law (OLB---Southern Miss)
Round 6: Pick 175*: Jarius Wright (WR---Arkansas), Derek Moye, (WR---Penn State)
Round 7: Pick 192: Randy Bullock (K---Texas A&M), Chase Ford (TE---Miami)

I think that people far too often take his quiet demeanor for a pout. He is a good player and a good guy, though. I'm glad he's here, and thanks for the good read.

I love your detail.....on a plan no one has verbalized..
I hope you are 1000% right..
....I'm serious..its grart sto see fans optimistic.
I heard someone on the NFL network Wednsday say the Colts fans have to understand that it could be 5 years..for us to contend
I think I'll listen to you
Those are the same guys who said that the window had closed on the Colts the year we went to the Super Bowl.
Pssst... Actually, it's not the same guy. The guy oldunclemark is referring to is LT. The guys I'm referring to are Rich Eisen, Jamie Dukes, Fran Charles, etc... I just said what I said to get a like...
-
I don't actually think this will happen, it's just a "what if?" scenario. But #3 is exactly what would happen.
Yeah, he was replying to your original what-if scenario, I think. He meant, what if we shock the world---I think this will happen.
-
Leaf didn't win the Heisman that year. Charles Woodson did. Nitpicking I know
'98 was Ricky Williams. '97 was Woodson.
-
I think the following will happen:
1) The Redskins will be tripping over themselves getting Andrew Luck in as their #2 pick as soon as possible.
2) The Colts sign Tim Tebow as back up QB for RG3 to continue the running philosophy you think they are implementing.
3) All the Luck-haters will not know what to do with their "Who Needs Luck When We Have Manning" T-shirts.
What about the Luck-lovers? You're great for a smile, UndecidedFrog. Keep up the good work!
-
I'm very encouraged in everyone's faith in a plan that no one has detailed for us
That's true faith
I'm glad you're encouraged! Or was that a wry remark...
-
It's also somewhat ironic.
Peyton Manning, a former Colt becomes a Cardinal
Andrew Luck, a former Cardinal becomes a Colt.
Sorry bud, we're about 6 hours in front of ya.
You have a lot of time on your hands...
But that's a good thing! Just imagine if it was on my hands---no informative cap salary or Front Office topics, we'd just have free-agent-signing topics that were 6 hours late...
-
-
I agree with that...
But FROG MAN....we're just scuffling now..trying to fill the roster.
I think we intended to keep garcon and reggie was a fall back.
Again..hear me clearly. I"M not against this. I want Freeney and Saturday for another year, too..
I'm the guy who wants to be respectable in 2012..and not suck just to get another high draft..
...but s...if there's a real plan here...it isnt in two 30-something guys..
It probably doesnt go into effect until 2013
The plan is in motion already, oldunclemark. It takes more than one year to rebuild. It takes several years to accomplish a complete roster overhaul, and this year is just the first step in a long process.

Colts Sign Zbikowski [Merge]

I think it is a smart signing as well. Inexpensive options who can contribute and upgrade the current roster are always appreciated. I still hope we draft a safety in a later round and let them compete, though.
