  1. Well, Wes Welker is gone now, and it appears Amendola might go back to the Rams, so what now for them?

I think Greg Jennings is on the market, the Patriots need a deep threat and I think he is a good downfield receiver and a good route runner.

I think Aaron Hernandez will do a good job replacing Welker, he will get considerably a lot more snaps with Gronk now that Wes is gone.

Brandon Lloyd is good, but I think they should move him inside.

The Patriots will truly need a #2 receiver that can make plays, besides Lloyd and the tight ends I see no one else on our current roster capable of big plays.

BB needs to start going all out on FA since we have few picks this draft...unless BB starts trading people for more picks.

    Back to defense,

The Patriots must retain Talib, he is a play maker, he is an instant upgrade on the secondary, once he went down, Anquan Boldin started going off...hopefully he can stay healthy.

Patriots need a pass rusher, if you watched the Patriots games last year you would notice when they blitzed they were successful in the secondary, very few times they were burned.

I except Chandler Jones to improve this year from last year, and hopefully we will see Dont'a Hightower getting better at pass coverage.

    Hello Freeney. :)

If they don't address the above, they will not have a long post season, I am sure our division is weak enough to win it...the Dolphins this year might give us a run for our money, but I don't see them being a power house for another couple seasons.

  2. Really crimps the Pats 15 mill in cap room. I love it when all these talking heads have just about every good free agent siigning with the Pats. So * and stupid. With a 36 year old QB eating up about 19 mill incap room and all the other big contracts , they will be lucky to keeep Volmer and either Welker or Talib. Now with this thug getting conviced , they are in a horrible spot. Don't know when the sentencing takes place but if it's after the FA period it puts them in a horrible spot. Probably have to franchise Talib as he's a bad candidate for a long term deal.

What now? The pats restructured Brady's contract, I suppose you spoke to soon. :)

  3. Obviously this is a joke/holy crap it's the offseason/not serious thread. Sure there is some jibe in a few of the predictions but none of them are serious. Our D could go to more than respectable to holy crap just stop them once please. Same goes for most any team in the league ya just never know especially with many so called bad teams taking positive steps in the last few years(Ya'll included, which is a compliment haha). Relax, jibe back at us, and try and pass the time till the offseason is over and we watch some quality footbal.

My bold prediction? We make it through the rest of this offseason without our resident other teams fans taking this thread(No offense to Quiz and GoPats who recognized and just simply picked a little back haha), and the many more to come, serious.

Well I can tell you few teams will have some good defenses next year.

    Seattle

    San Francisco

    Houston

  4. Andrew Luck becomes a bust, 0-16 season.

Patriots go undefeated and win the Sb this time.

Ben Roethlisberger is released by the Steelers and joins the Raiders.

RGIII misses the whole season because of injury.

Tony Romo throws more picks than TD's.

    The Bengals miss the playoffs

    The Ravens also go 0-16.

    The Lions go 0-16.

    The Raiders go 0-16

    The Giants go 0-16

Damn it's not April 1st yet.... :funny:

  5. As mentioned in my article, a team that needs a short term solution at their 4-3 DE spot. I would also think it would be a team that is solid and is a potential playoff contender.

The Seahawks come to mind, the Falcons as well, and the Saints too.

Why would the Saints go with Freeney when they are looking to convert to 3-4.

The Eagles might consider picking him up because I doubt the eagles will consider going with 3-4 with that linebacker corp.

Maybe the Giants might consider picking up Freeney for cheap?

  6. Well to summarize everything:

Trade Welker = 90% sure he won't take a pay cut to stay with the Patriots.

Franchise Vollmer = big guy, good at pass protecting & durable.

Talib = Offer him a 3 year deal at 35 mil with bonuses if he performs.

Welker will be easily be replaced by Hernandez & Edelman.

Patriots draft needs this year would be:

-Dominant WR, we have been discussing about this for 4 years now since the last time Randy Moss performed really well, but since then we had no true deep threat other than Gronk...

-Pass Rusher, I've been disappointed with Chandler Jones, I thought he would be really good at pass rush, but he has been somewhat of a disappointment, and he fades a lot during games, where on other side players like JJ Watt make true impacts on the game and make everyone around him look good.

I'd give Jones another year or two, if we don't see a gradual improvement then cut him or trade him away.

    - Middle Linebacker, Spikes is good, but not good in coverage, he can stop the run, but that's about it, he has not been good at pass defending this year.

I'd say convert Mayo back to Middle Linebacker and then add another key Linebacker next to him.

Now, with everything said, one thing I also want to add is Stevan Ridley is decent, but we could probably pickup another running back, someone that is big, someone that can push the pile. We have too many small running backs.

  7. I think they will also tag him too, we need to see if he can last a season without injuries...he has been injured all year.

Talib was an instant upgrade to our secondary. We drafted great defensive players all these years, yet we always fail at drafting a dominant corner back.

If the Jets let Reevis walk, I think NE should go after him.

Can you Imagine how good our defense would be with Talib and Reevis healthy all year long?

    On a separate note.

I think we should trade Welker to the Raiders so we could get another 1st or 2nd round picks (we talking about the Raiders here guys lol, the same raiders that gave up 1st round pick for Seymour)

Welker is a great system receiver, but god, the passes he dropped for us this year and last year were crucial...

Brady needs a #1 receiver that can go deep and get the ball. We need a Julio Jones.

  8. If he wins he will remind me of a certain Raven QB that won the Sb and the following year being let go...now I am not saying he will be let go of, but he is not a game changer.

Give any QB's the Ravens O-Line & receiver corp and they will outplay Flacco.

Imagine RG3 with the Ravens. :)

  9. Can you even believe they gave him a 5 year contract extension? He looked just awesome covering Vernon Davis the other night.

GB don't have a clue what they are doing.

Number 1, Ted Thompson never hits free agents, and he gave this guy a 5 year extension to do nothing on defense. Don't even get me started on the big extension they gave Finley after last year. 2 catches for 45 yards in his last 2 playoff games. He drops pass after pass, throws his QB under the bus.

All that "rookies build talent" look at their defense. Yeah....Clay Matthews is the entire pass rush. They looked great the other night leaving 20 yards open for Kaepernick to pick up a first down. Their defense has been a joke 3 out of the last 4 years. Only one season did Capers actually do something with them, the year they won the Super Bowl. 2011 they were worst in the league, and this year they weren't all that good, that playoff game proved it.

I don't see GB doing it anymore. i think they are going to regress next year. Their defense will continue to get worse, and a much tougher schedule.

You mean the year that they went on a shootout with the Cardinals and they barely won that game to get to the SB? LOL.

They had a terrible defense. They need to convert to 3-4 to help them better defend the run game. 2-4 scheme is stupid this day.
