  1. all i have to say is our offensive line is horrible. all 4 teams in this game give their qbs unbelievable amts of time to throw. i know its been said 2039483029843209 times but, man we would have 8 superbowls if we could sure up the offensive and defensive lines.

Polian has made an impressive effort to shore up both lines. Time will tell.

  2. Yeah, kind of surprising move here...

I guess the FO has seen enough to know. They sure know more than we do.

There was a broken play in the game the other night. Commentators for the Rams said that either the HB or the QB was at fault. One of those two. I'm guessing now it was Davis. Then, on the last series, 3rd down, he easily could have gotten a first down by running and kept the drive going. Instead, he made an unnecessary, high risk pass that was incomplete. They had to question his judgment on that one, I would think.

  3. IMHO there are four 'locks' to make the team (barring injury, of course): Jeff, Diem, Constonzo and Ijalana.

We'll probably carry 10. I don't think anyone can say for any certainty who those other 6 are until we see two more games. Obviously the front runners are Link, Pollak, DeVan, McClendon, Richard and Thomas since they have the experience. I think Kirkpatrick may have a shot.

Opening day starters? Besides Jeff and Diem, I think it's up for grabs.

Reitz also has a very good chance to make it.

  4. Hmm, I dont know. The O lone is my biggest concern with this team, LT and guard are very concerning to me. Our O line was a huge problem last year, and if Castonzo isnt able to start very soon, I think that could be very big trouble. Also idk who this Reitz guy even is that is practicing with the first team OL. Aside from OL I think this is a very very solid team.

Reitz was on the PS last year. Former Indiana All-Star in basketball. No collegiate football experience, to my knowledge.

  5. 7. Everyone stays healthy:

The Scenario: All the key players stay healthy all season, then come up big in the Playoffs.

    6.Experience pays off:

The Scenario: As other teams struggle from a lockout hangover, the consistent Colts ride their veteran leadership all the way to the big game.

    5.Defense steps up:

The Scenario: After years of being written off as an undersized pushover, the Colts’ D finally emerges as a championship-caliber asset, rather than a liability.

    4.Running game finally clicks:

The Scenario: Tired of being ridiculed, the Indianapolis running game suddenly appears, balancing the team’s already potent offense and triggering a deep post-season run.

    3.Abslolute domination:

The Scenario: After storming through yet another regular season like clockwork, Indy carries the momentum all the way to Super Bowl XLVI.

2.Peyton Manning, carries the team on is back:

The Scenario: Though it takes several improbable come-from-behind wins to accomplish it, Peyton Manning compensates for his team’s shortcomings all year long and does so well enough he reaches his third Super Bowl in six years.

    1.Pure dumb luck:

The scenario: A bunch of crazy outcomes you never saw coming take place, and when the dust finally settles the Colts just happen to come out on top.

7 is the most unlikely of all. When was the last time ALL the key players stayed healthy for the entire season? I'd rely the most on 4, 5 and 6. Also the depth we now have to carry us through any lack of 7. Every SB winner needs at least some of 1, as well.

  6. I like how no-one mentioned the guy called him 'Delonte'... lol

A lot of people here can't spell "you're" or "too" or "their". You know, words they have seen and been using their entire lives and requirements to make it to 5th grade, probably. So, adding or missing a single letter in an unusual first name can maybe be overlooked.

  7. By that logic we should also have signed Braylon Edwards, Sidney Rice, and Plaxico Burress and making other teams gameplann for Wayne, Moss, Collie, Garcon, Clark, Edwards, Rice, and Burress.

You can only put so many guys out there at once. The money we'd spend on Moss would be better spent elsewhere.

    (My emphasis) Agree completely.

Moss is an undeniable talent, but we have a very sound group of receivers. Let's address more pressing needs with the limited dollars for players.

  8. Honestly... I think we're putting too much thought into a returner now... With the kickoff location being moved up most kickoffs are going to end in touchacks, and a return man isn't really going to do much good when he's got nothing to return.

I agree. I'd say we'll see at least 50% touchbacks (wild guess), so I have less interest than most here in a highly regarded return man. Breaking a punt for a long return isn't that common, either. So, for a return man, I just want someone who gets a few yards and never or rarely fumbles. I trust our offense, so I'd rather put the emphasis somewhere else with the 52nd and 53rd players than return capabilities. Now, if we had an anemic offense I'd think differently.

  9. What are you thoughts about the latest FA signings?

Tommie Harris amazing DT!!!! (if Healthy)

My thoughts are twofold. One, that we have Peyton to thank for making much of it possible, and two, that we might be seeing a bit of a Chris Polian effect.

  10. I wanted Likenbach to start over him.. darn

We don't know who is starting. I think it's good to have him at a reduced price, given his experience and the lack of experience with the rookies, especially after the lock-out. Besides, Peyton agrees to take pay below his value for the good of the franchise. Then, he says he wants Diem. What are Polian and Irsay gonna do, say no?

  11. Excellent news, all around. Obviously, it helps the team and we fans appreciate hearing this.

I believe it is also good for Manning. For what it's worth to him, it boosts public opinion of him, if it weren't high enough already. Manning is also a competitor and truly wants to win, as this action shows.

I believe this is also potentially better for Manning financially, long term. Here's how. If he were to finish his career with 3 or 4 Super Bowl rings instead of the one, then along with his personality and clean image this drives his long term endorsement earnings ever upward. As an example, Arnold Palmer was one of the highest paid athletes in the 80s, long after his competitive golf was over, because of his popularity (Arnie's army), image and name recognition. I think the same could well happen for Manning over the next 25 years. That's a long time to rake in endorsements.

How about this, Mr. Irsay. Pay him $1 more than Brady gets.

    Bring on the season.
