  1. You're right, but high school isn't the NFL. If it actually works (meaning that it was necessary in the first place), that's pretty sad.

It creates a sense of unity. Again back to your previous post about needing names on the shirts, there are a lot of new faces and they need them to start gelling. So why not have a little fun with it and put some Rah-Rah behind it? Everyone complained about how Caldwell showed no emotion and was un-willing to make changes, the new guy comes in and creates a fun slogan and tries to build some unity and you hammer on him? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

so I'm guessing your of the thinking that since these guys get paid so much they aren't allowed to fall in a rut and actually be "Human"? Sometimes something as small and goofy as a T-Shirt can build up a little bit of excitement for the situatin. instead of the same lame attitude of "Your getting paid Millions of Dollars, you shouldn't need motivated."

  2. Why wouldn't he think it is fun? The coach is focusing on building up the defense and wants to bring in an atmosphere that isn't, "ho hum, just another day on the job....." If I'm one of them I am amped and ready to go. It's called motivation, unfortunately people seem to feel money is the "only" motivator for these guys. Sometimes you have to prod the cattle a little and get them amped about the new direction, especially with all the change and uncertainty that has been floating around all off-season.

  3. Pretty solid overall, I think we could actually get Chapman in round 4, maybe. I LOVE the Graham and Miller picks. I have been huge on Miller, I think he will become a solid starter with a year or two to develop. Graham is a great option of a slot reciever and can also return kicks, I think he could be a late round steal.

  4. pretty solid for the most part. I think Thompson is a taken too early, and I don't like Cunningham. I think he had more drops than receptions in the shrine game. But other than that...good mock.

Main reasons I chose Thompson there were,

    1. He has the ability to be a very versitile DL, plus he was once a 1st round prospect.

    2. I don't like many of the 2nd round CBs. If Jenkins drops there I still wouldn't pick him, I think his baggage is just too much.

    3. I think Fleener will be gone and I think Hill/Wright will be gone, so I don't see any other early 2nd round WRs.

For the Cunningham pick. I would prefer TJ Graham, but I think he will be gone early to mid 6th, so the only other choice, in my mind, would be Marquis Maze or Junior Hemmingway. Which I would gladly put either one of them there, I just felt Cunningham has the most upside.

  5. Set for 4-3 non tackling machines? 3-4 we have LB needs so many people can only think offence when a good and great def will win games also. Then if u balance like i hope for we have a team that is much much more enjoying to watch. How many times have we all cringed when our tampa 2 hit the field to play 12 yards back waiting on a screen or lil slant pass that kills us everytime?

Which LB do you want to replace? I think Conner and Angerer will do very well in the 3-4, I would draft a MLB, but the class this year isn't strong, so we could wait until aroun 4th - 5th round and get someone like Audie Cole. For OLB Freeney and Mathis are basically slated in there already, unless you think we should bench one of those 2 and draft an OLB? And just because they played off the ball that far, doesn't mean they will under the new scheme, since that is what they were coached to do.

  6. I cant see Moore at all except PS and 1.2 i cant see drafting a WR or TE over more pressing needs in CB and NT. BPA doesnt always fit a teams needs.IF we could sign a NT and CB then WR would make sense but LB needs are also needed for 3-4 ours are tiny.

I actually think we are pretty well set at LB, I could see maybe drafting 1. I think if the right reciever drops to round 2 we would * him up, same thing with TE. I think if Fleener is there, it would make be such a great fit, there would be no way around picking him. What is a way to get your rookie QB comfortable right off the bat? Draft his biggest weapon, who is also a physical freak of a TE.

  7. 1 Andrew Luck QB Stanford 6'4" 234 Duh

2 Brandon Thompson DT Clemson 6'2" 314 Was at one point a top DT prospect. Has the size and ability to play both 3-4 and 4-3 NT. Not as large as you would like for a 3-4 NT, but has the ability to hold up against double teams and penetrate on passing downs.

3 Leonard Johnson CB Iowa St. 5'10" 196 A better man up corner than Zone Corner. Can be overly Physical at times. Good tackler.

4 Marvin Jones WR California 6'2" 199 Great Hands, and excellent body control. Won't blow by the defender with speed but runs precise routes and has great short area burst and footwork.

5 Audie Cole ILB NC State 6'4" 246 Tall LB. Was excellent in coverage, could translate to OLB also, due to coverage ability. Great instincts and ability to react to the play. Tackle numbers were down last season, probably due to a cast over a broken right hand

5 Hebron Fangupo DT BYU 6'1" 323 Very good awareness, strong at the point of attack and holds his ground well. Has some injury concerns and is a older than most prospects at 27.

6 Rhett Ellison TE USC 6'5" 251 Very High Character. Was a leader in the locker room. Has good size and moderate hands. Could put on some weight to help in blocking.

7 Jaymes Brooks OG Virginia Tech 6'2" 310 Is a better pass protector than Run Blocker, due to some mechanical issues. Issues are fixable and could turn out to be a Decent OG. Has a stong punch and great jump off the snap. Very hard worker and is an excellent team mate.

7 BJ Cunningham WR Michigan St 6'1" 211 Purely a possesion reciever. Runs crisp routes and has good hands. Not the most athletic player.

7 Robert Blanton CB Notre Dame 6'1" 208 Physical corner that likes to mix it up, more of a Zone player, but could be a great addition as a Nickel or Dime CB.

All Rankings are based off of CBS' ratings. Hasn't been much talk about Thompson lately, but I still think he could be a great NT in a 3-4 and would work great next to Nevis in out 4-3 sets.

Leonard Johnson at one point was considered a 2nd round prospect, so getting him in the 3rd would be excellent. I think Marvin Jones could be one of the better late round recievers in this draft.

Audie Cole would give us a versitile LB that we could move all over the place.

Fangupo, though older, has more of the prototypical NT build.

I love Ellison's game at TE and think he would be a great addition.

Brooks is an OG that needs some work on his run blocking technique, but could become a very good player.

Cunningham seems like a very safe pick in the 7th, could learn a lot from Reggie.

Blanton just feels like a guy that will make it as a Dime/Nickel player and do very well.

  8. I love the picks. The only thing I change, because I feel that we are actually really deep at OLB would be to get an ILB instead of Miles Burris. Im Huge on Audie Cole from NC State, but don't know if he will be there that late. I don't think we will need a C so I could see going with McNutt in the 4th and maybe drafting Audie Cole with our earlier pick in the 6th. Or even Chris Galippo from USC in the 6th if Cole is gone.

Or grab Cole in the 5th and Rhett Ellison USC with our 1st 6th rounder.

  9. you think that RG3 has a hard time feeling pressure. He is the best I have seen escaping pressure. I have seen multiple times he has stiff armed a lineman to get away, u don't see that from qb's.

Escaping pressure is all about athletecism, feeling it is another thing. When he is locking on down field he has a hard time noticing when he is about to get clocked. In college that isn't as noticable, because the athletes aren't as fast so with him being a better athlete than anyone on the field he is able to escape it, and I can garauntee you he won't be stiff arming DL in the NFL. Read this breakdown from Colts Authority and it hightlights the issue really well.

NO PROMOTIONAL POSTING ON THE SITE2012-archives/march/five-plays-and-the-draft-robert-griffin-iii-in-the-alamo-bowl.html

Again, i have nothing against RG3 and would love for him to be our QB if we decide he truly is the better choice than Luck, but as I said before his stature and the fact that he does have trouble noticing pressure, really makes me wonder if he won't spend time injured, at least in his first couple of years.

  10. Great signing. i love the move to more of a running game, i personally feel Brown will flourish with this style of offense. he has always seemed like more of a downhill runner to me, instead of trying to find the hole in the "zone" then cut and go guy. i think knowing the hole will be in a certain spot and the Lineman are built to push the Defenders backwards will make all the difference in his game.

  11. Wow really Jase? My thing with RG3 is he has the same build as Vick, but just a little taller. And his main weakness is feeling pressure, those two things don't mix well in the NFL. I hope I am wrong but I could see him as injured a lot. He has to get a better feel for pressure or he will be toast.

Yes he is a GREAT passer, but he takes a lot of shots when he stands in the pocket. that won't last long in the NFL.

  12. NFL and College Football are very identical. Thats right.

There is a guy called Tim Tebow. Won Hiesman and 2 National Championships. Must be winning 8 SBs in 16 years NFL then.

Re-builds happen all the time in the NFL. Why would Luck want to go to Washington, where he knows he has an Owner that is going to try and run things like he is Jerry Jones? A team that is known for blowing loads of Cash on FAs only to have it come back to bite them?

  13. UFan - I completely agree with what you are saying, but i would have to argue that Donald Brown will be the back that we need and with Carter and Evans we will have a fairly solid backfield. We could easily get a late round RB in the draft and our depth would be very good at that position.

A lot of people keep hammering on Donald, but with the new offense if they move to the more downhill running that Pitts does, that will be a huge help for Donald, as opposed to the Zone Blocking style we did that caused him to do more thinking than just running.
