Imagine this: Seattle or whoever trades up to 3 and takes a QB. Ballard goes to Irsay and says there are no QBs he trusts and Jalen Carter is the only game wrecker left in the draft. Ballard can say he got perhaps the best player in the draft AND puts off the QB risk we all know he is scared to take for another year. It’s not beyond the realm and I think Ballard would love this scenario. His ego will not allow him to change strategies because he’d have to admit he was wrong. Pride goeth…

I would not hate this scenario. Not sure on Carter. But if Irsay is in... #TankFor24

I was counting Speed (you aren't) and I did say depth, Grant Stuard is a depth LB that isn't bad and he is young. He played in every game last season if I recall.

Well, you shouldn't count Speed as he is not a member of the team at present.

Stuard was a special teamer. I'd be surprised if he played more than 10 LB snaps all year.

Okereke is a FA I don't mind not re-signing. That's too much money for us and we have Leonard, Speed, and Franklin.

    Speed is an FA.

Good for Bobby.    And maybe even good for the Colts.   This should be a decent comp pick for the Colts next year.   I’d guess a 4 or 5?

    A 4 would be nice!

1:31 p.m. Dolphins agree to terms with former Jets quarterback Mike White on a 2-year deal, per report.

10:56 a.m. Falcons announce five-year, $105 million extension for guard Chris Lindstrom, per report.

8:03 a.m. Browns restructure quarterback Deshaun Watson’s contract, clearing $36 million in cap space, per report.

2 years, $16m for Mike White. Almost like they expect him to play a fair share

That's a BIG contract for Lindstrom. Does that make him higher paid than Q?

That's how you clear cap space.

Inside "sources" say he's been already getting unbelievable offers :D

    and,  @RNGDShobby

I could be wrong, but I recall only pick-for-pick trades were allowed last year. @NFLfan can you confirm?

I see following rules from 2021 mock draft.

    *******

    Trade rules

All trades must be approved by Commissioner in designated trade thread.

Only pick-for-pick trades will be allowed during the draft hours.

All personnel-for-pick trades must be pre-negotiated with the other GM and submitted to Commissioner in the designated trade thread by 6pm (one hour prior to draft)

    No trades for future picks

    ******

I was not part of the drafts here when players used to be traded, so I don't know the pros and cons of it, and how you'd all like to proceed this year.

Ahhh maybe that was it - no trades for future picks.
I seem to remember there being something different last year. But it could have been the year before. Or it could be my brain playing tricks on me :P

Probably should ask this, but what will the trade rules be this year

I know in previous years we have done only draft picks, due to the difference in the valuing of players betweens fans (Nelson is worth 3 1sts!) and NFL GM's (Nelson plus his massive contract is worth a 2024 2nd).
However last year I seem to recall we allowed trading of players aswell?

Personally I think I prefer the draft pick only approach. Shall we vote? Or just let the commissioner decide?

Is this a good draft for OL?  Folks said the Garrett Bradbury was a can't-miss prospect. I have more patience with players but a lot of fans want to get rid of him. Elflein, former Buckeye, was good for a year and then declined. We long for the days of Matt Birk, Randall McDaniel, Todd Steussie, David Dixon,...

From all I've read and heard is that the depth in this class is very good. Not many blue chip prospects but capable starters deep into day 3.
