I see that @El Potro had asked earlier for Cowboys to be his second team.

Would you pick perhaps 2 of the remaining 3 unpicked teams (Dolphins, Ravens, Browns) and leave one as second team for @NFLfan

We can finalize the teams and GMs quickly today morning, and move on to choosing Colts GM for this year draft.

Chad can draft for the Cowboys and I can take over for the Dolphins since they're left over if that makes things easier.

    Pascal?    Pascal?!?

I’d like to think that chapter is closed.

People here want a more explosive receiving group and some float the name Zack Pascal?!?  The opposite of explosive.

    Strange.

We still need depth and he is a good teammate that doesn't mind blocking and would be relatively cheap to sign. He's also familiar with Shane and also has stayed healthy most of his career.

Who fits the explosive bill to you that's still available?

Frank must be elated. He has a GM that's aggressive, a risk taker and is serious about putting a contending team together.

To be fair, David Tepper also seems to be pushing for major changes. Tepper is a real billionaire at an estimated net worth of around $18.5 billion. So that's something that should be stated as well imo.

I have no idea why they traded for him and gave him all that money. I would want to hear why the Browns felt they had to pay him.

They had to outbid Atlanta. Watson is from Atlanta and was leaning towards choosing them. So the Browns got desperate and gave him whatever he wanted essentially so he'd choose them. Remember Watson had a no trade clause, so he had the final say in where he went.

The Jets have some fun characters there. Breece Hall, Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson seem to be happy players.

To be fair, they're all really young and were rookies last year. Give it a year or 2 with the New York media and playing with Aaron Rodgers and we'll see how happy they all seem.

Then again maybe the youthful nature and attitudes of those guys paired with the fresh start might make Aaron Rodgers more palatable and happy instead. The New York media will always be horrid though, lol.

I see a cut before a trade, no will trade for him if the can sign him cheaper...His recent injury history puts a dent in it all. But if we can get him packaged up with Moore or with another player to a center needy team it could happen.

I was thinking something like the Shaq Mason trade. Kelly and a 7th for a 6th. Just to hopefully have someone take on his contract.

With the cash we gave Nelson, Kelley, and Smith we are in a position to find talent on rookie contracts at the moment. Ballard preached the trenches coming in and it helped us a lot on both sides of the ball. Now it's time to boost up the oline with young talent if we want a chance for any QB/RB to succeed and grow here...

Hopefully Kelly will be moved. I saw a report saying he was being shopped around a few days ago.

Ballard came to Indy stressing the trenches and it was the best part of his texture. He does a good job bringing in good talent at fair prices in Free Agency. He drafts well and gets picks. Is real downfall is how he allocates money to positions. He gave Hines alot to turn around and let him go. And has overpaid at non premium positions too much. Mixed with a little bad luck with lineman injuries and Smiths regression at T we are in a pickle with talent and oline money. We should get the NWestern Tackle or best C with first pick and land Hooker. We could trade picks around and get a good lineman and Hooker. Even if Hooker doesn't pan out you need a good oline cheaper for future growth.

I agree on Skoronski. He's the pick I'd make. Paris Johnson Jr would also be fine by me. I'd honestly wait until 2024 to invest heavily at QB. I'm not sold on any of these guys and Drake Maye and Caleb Williams are phenomenal. Michael Penix is also going to coming out next year as well. I'd take any of them over all of these guys this year. That being said I'd still double down and take 2 QBs later in the draft like Stetson Bennett, Tyson Bagent, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, &/or Max Duggan. They should all be available on day 3 of the draft.

It's a business we can't keep dumping money at positions that are cheap fills. RB is the easiest position to get great production at a cheap price.

I agree, that's why I mentioned someone like Duece Vaughn in the draft as a late round flier.

The most important thing for the Colts right now is to get our Oline back up to par without breaking the bank so we can have a chance to let a young QB develope with  good blocking. Run blocking is more important than an elite RB.

That's exactly right, the oline needs to improve and come before anything. If the line sucks, no matter what the QB/RB will as well.

I’m usually on board with the RB argument but Taylor is a special player, and he’s way more valuable than Pittman is. Pittman’s talent is replaceable. Taylor isn’t easily replaceable.

I understand this viewpoint, though I'm not on board personally. I can't see investing heavily in a mainly one dimensional RB. Tbh I'm skeptical Taylor fits in with Shane's offense. Not that Taylor is horrible at receiving but it's most definitely not his forte. A scat back would seem to fit more. I'm honestly intrigued at the possibility of trading for Austin Ekeler. Deuce Vaughn would be a late pick in the draft that might be able to fill that role for much cheaper while giving time to see if things go well in the run game this coming year with Taylor. Pittman might not be a top receiver but even low end WR 1s are just more valuable in today's game than even the top RBs in the league. Pittman also wouldn't be easily replaced. Just look at how Ballard is choosing to replace Campbell.

    When did I say that?

When did any one say that?

I said in a previous post that i do not expect Brissett to throw for 40 tds.

No one is even predicting what will be at season's end. That's not the discussion.

Just what is now. ........ The present performance of the Colt's QB.

Others have. Maybe you have more realistic expectations.

But based off of his current 4 game performance those are the projections and are some peoples expectations. Which is just crazy.

  12. Just now, egg said:

But what they are now is what they are.

Exactly. I'm not trying to take it away from him. But to expect it to continue is a bit insane. To put it in perspective, Mahomes at the moment is projected to end with 6,040 yards & 58 TD's or something crazy like that. That's nuts even for him.

    Nothing is "skewed".

It's skewed when compared to his season long performance in 2017. Other than that, it's not skewed.

Not to harp, but if you are using both 2017 and 2019 number combined, you won't mind looking at the improvement between the 2.

                     2017                         2019

    Cmp%      58%                            65%

    TD%         2.8%                           7.2%

    INT%        1.5%                           1.4%

    Yards/G    193                             227

    Sacks          52                              6

    Rating       81                                102

    QBR           41                                59

I agree he's improved. It'd be horrible if he hadn't after a year & a half in the system. Those stats for '19 are skewed at the moment though. It's only been 4 games. Let's wait it out & see if he regresses or improves.

  14. Just now, Myles said:

In this offense he has 10 TD's and 2 INT's.   Over 102 rating.   I'll take relevant numbers more seriously.  Tom Brady had 18 TD's and 16 turnovers in his first season starting with the Patriots.   Brissett is no Brady, but he's playing well enough to finish this season without the Colts needing to tank.

I live in Georgia and watch the Falcons frequently. Their secondary is atrocious. So I can't put too much stock in that game. He needs to do it against a better defense.

Last year should have at least shown us that you don't throw in the towel too soon. Yes, they had Luck, but they were 1-5 and many here were wanting them to tank for a higher draft pick.  They went on to win a playoff game.   Sometimes teams come together.   If we were 1-5 with Brissett, I may be on the tanking bandwagon, but we are 2-2 and should be 3-1.

Last year I was watching that Bills game intensely. I didn't ever throw the towel in last year, but that's because of Andrew and his god given ability that we've all seen on full display. I haven't seen even a glimpse of something similar from Brissett.

I'll be honest, I threw in the towel this year when I got the alert from Adam Schefter that Luck was retiring. I had Superbowl aspirations for the team that came crumbling down, like I'm sure many of us had. Idk how everybody jumped on Brissett after 2017. I understand believing in Reich and Ballard, but not Brissett. Y'all do y'all, we're just hoping for different out comes.

mediocre is simply the wrong word for Brissett.  The word implies that the guy is below average.  And he simply isn't.

Not based on these 4 games. But career wise yes he is.

Since being a Colt career wise he's got 27 total TD's & 19 turn overs while averaging 220 yards a game.

    Definitely not above average.

IF his projections stay what they are he'll average 40 TD's, which would be great, but is highly unlikely. Especially with a hobbled Hilton.
