There are still a lot players available many options at WR Grant Meredith and Matthews OL Pouncey Fluker Spain DE Mayowa Curry CB Desir Gaines That's a few guys I'm looking at FA is not over.
I agree FA is no where near over. I've now got my eyes on Tahir Whitehead - LB, Paul Worrilow - LB (should be a cheap flier, so we'll see), Jordan Matthews - WR, Cameron Meredith - WR, EJ Gaines - CB, & maybe someone like Kenny Vaccaro - S/LB hybrid.
It is odd/concerning that we have only signed 1 free agent so far, but that's bound to change soon enough.
-
He wanted a raise from Miami.
He's going for the money. Plus Tampa needs a center bad, & if he signed there his way of life wouldn't change much.
Good thing about that is we might be able to get Jensen if Pouncey is on the Buccs radar.

Preston Brown has agreed to a 1 year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. Not sure the dollar amount, but considering its a 1 year deal its probably a prove it contract with decent money.
The better LB's seem to be drying up now. I hope we still grab one soon.

Confused why does it say Baltimore contract nullified but that he was a Redskin?
He failed his physical with the ravens who already offered him a contract. They pulled the contract when he didn't pass said physical.
He played for the Redskins last year.

By the way.... I love being called a homer..
Tyoicalky people complain that I'm not enough of a fan because I arrived with Luck and they wonder what I'll do when Luck retires.
So I'm either too much if a fan for you -- a homer... OR I'm not enough of a fan for others.. perfect.
I'm a homer to you because I preach having a little patience and confidence in the GM. But you think I'm wrong so I'm a homer... perfect.
6 hours ago, NewColtsFan said:I'm not a homer... I've never been a homer for any team I've supported as a fan for more than 50 years now.
There's nothing about being a homer that interests me. But I like the process of watching my favorite team being put together.. I supported a Grigson his first few years until he gave me reason NOT to support him. And I'll support Ballard the same way. From what I've seen, he has my trust. And it will stay that way until he loses it. But I suspect that won't come for a very long time.
Ballard is a pro.
So you're saying you jumped on the Colts train when we drafted Luck in 2012?
And at the same time, if you "arrived" when Luck did, were you ever a fan of Manning's?
Do you jump/join teams when players you like leave/join another team or retires?
Why have you been a sports fan for 50 years and just joined the Colts when we drafted Luck?
Or rather, which team(s) did you root for before Luck became a Colt?
Or are you one those people who roots for players, not teams?
I'm just curious.

Look, I'd love to have Suh in a Colts uniform. But I'll be shocked, & I mean SHOCKED, if Ballard signs him. He doesn't fit what Ballard seems to preach. He'd be contradicting himself by signing Suh.

People seem to confuse NFL contracts with NBA/MLB contracts. Suh will probably get a couple guaranteed yrs and that's it.
I realize it wouldn't be fully guaranteed. But having his supposedly soon to be massive contract on their books while needing to resign Mariota soon will destroy them. Especially with QB's now getting fully guaranteed contracts.

Lol. You mean Luck if this happens.
Or whoever is behind center. (Yes I believe it'll be Luck, but you never know)

This draft is loaded at LB. The way the trade down is looking we may be in the perfect range to get one of Smith or Edmunds. LVE would be amazing but probably won’t last until our second round now. Lorenzo Carter is another possibility.
Edmunds is my favorite prospect in the draft. He's so young (19) & raw that if we drafted him, he legitimately should last a good 10- 15 years with the organization, barring injury of course. Plus he's got good bloodlines.
Leighton Vander-Esch is a great prospect imo also. He's got perfect size & seems to be ready to step in day 1.
I'd be stoked with either of these guys.
Both the Georgia guys look to be good also (I've seen plenty of Ga recently, being as I live in Ga). I'm just higher on Edmunds & LVE.

Shoot, I hope he does go there and destroys their cap situation. That'd be real nice for us.

Wont end up with him either.
Probably not. But here's to hoping.

Preston Brown is still out there.
He's been a tackling machine for Buffalo the past 4 years (512) & hasn't missed a game in that time span. He was tied for the league lead in tackles last year. I know that doesn't mean too much, but it lets me know he's always near the ball. We could really use a LB like that.

I just realized that Autry had 5 sacks last year and Mayowa had 6....that could have about led the Colts in sacks last year. These are people who put those numbers up as non-full time players too.
If you go look at his stats he showed up and showed out against back up QB's. 4 out of the 5 sacks came from the likes of Geno Smith (in Eli's infamous benched game), Paxton Lynch & Nick Foles. He had half sacks against KC (Alex Smith) and NYJ (Josh McCown) to round out his 5 sack season. So he only got a half sack on 1 true starting QB (Alex Smith).
Good for him to parlay that into $6 million a year.

Schefter is reporting Nelson is getting a deal done with the Raiders right now.
He's also reporting Crabtree ($7.7 million cap hit) is likely to be released.
-
Let's not forget when the Redskins offered 3 firsts & 2 seconds to move up to # 2 overall in 2012 to get RG3 they made that trade with the Rams on March 12. The Rams weren't gonna wait for a better offer because they knew there wouldn't be a better one.
The Bills are the best deal we can get. Atleast 2 firsts & 2 seconds would make this happen imo. With a possibility of getting their first next year as well. The Bills are the only logical trading partner for us right now, & it seems it'll stay that way.

I don't see Ballard signing this guy. Clayborn is a soon-to-be 30 year-old DE coming off a career season.
I think someone like Kony Ealy would be more his preference...a post-hype guy who has flashed and still somewhat young that Eberflus can try to coach back up to his potential.
I agree. Clayborn has been underwhelming in his career up until last year. he might of lead the Falcons in sacks last year but he had over half of them in one game. He destroyed Dak Prescott when Tyron Smith was injured during last year. So he showed up & showed out against a back up LT. He's not someone we need to sign.
Ealy we should be able to get on the cheap I hope. Plus he is a good bit younger than Clayborn.
-
I would absolutely love to have him, but not for the price tag he'll be fetching.
Plus, safety is actually one of the positions we have the most depth at.
-
If he makes his way to Indy, I fully believe Ballard will make him want to stick around long term. Jensen has improved every year he's been in the league. He fits Ballard's bill of how he wants to reward certain guys for performing at a high level and consistently improving. I get that he's an outsider an not from within which is the norm in that regard. I was listening to Schefter's podcast yesterday & Schefty & Mortenson think Jensen will be the highest paid center by then end of FA. I hope they're wrong & he becomes a top 10 paid guard for us. I just hope Tampa doesn't price us out. That tax deal goes a long way.

Feel sorry for you guys since I stay tan year round
Lol. Yeah I love the sun, but the sun doesn't love me.
Tanning is non existent until after maybe the tenth burn of the year or so for me. So it's not worth it imo. Hopefully Jenson is plagued with the same thing I am. Extremely fair skin.
Though I've got to say, around $10 million a year is definitely worth suffering for.

As a ginger though, that Florida sun might be too much for him. Hmm.
Lmao. Yeah I'm a ginger as well. Lemme tell you I've been to Miami a few times (an ex of mine is from there) & even in January I got severely burnt. Florida is no joke with the sun & I live in South Georgia. You'd think it wouldn't be that drastic of a change. But I assure you it is. Jenson will have to invest in some seriously strong sunscreen to be going thru training camp and OTAs down there. The summers will be brutal.

He could still honor his visit with the Colts and come here, despite any offers made, right?
It is not like a timeshare salesman saying "this is the best deal you are going to get but you have to take it now, cannot sit on it or think about it". Do teams do that? Do they say the offer becomes invalid once he leaves the facility or city without signing it? That is the part I am uncertain about.
A different sport, but i know the Thunder did that to James Harden. They offered him a slightly above average contract and told him it was only valid for the day. He stated he needed to sleep on an offer like that. OKC didn't like him takning his time & traded him to the Rockets instead of letting him walk. HORRIBLE choice by the Thunder. Neither player they got in the deal is with their team now & Harden is an MVP caliber player year in and year out now.
-
He was ranked 6th in pass-blocking efficiency for centers last year apparently.
Sounds like someone Luck needs.
-
Dang it!
He was one I was holding out hope for. Seemed to fit the bill of what Ballard looks for, plus we have an extreme need for really any LB help. This one definitely does hurt.
