Running backs are fine in the first round if your a SB team or close. The giants taking Barkley was dumb. But the patriots taking Michele was fine.

I am really scared at what the jags did. Especially since they have foles. He is the kind of qb that won’t lose you games. But the colts got a ton better so we will see.

I don't think having Barkley on your team is dumb, but, Taking  a QB first this year if you are not sure that he will be your franchise QB is, with all of the other needs you have to address might be. As long as Eli is their QB, they need to build the team around him, if they fall flat on their face this year, then they will have a high draft choice that they can choose the franchise QB they want to build around, and have less spots to fill to help him succeed.

  2. I loved the post draft interview into the inner workings of the draft thought process & where we are as a unit right now, as a fan it should be standard viewing, to see the mind set of our GM & head coach. I love the process that they talk about balancing Character/ Athletic ability.

Also after establishing, a locker room culture, Taking a  chance on talent down the road on more high profile FA's.  This is why I am so glad to be a Colt fan from the late 50's. Do I like winning? yes, but I think in this football world as a business, it's nice to see integrity is not completely gone.

Anyway that's my two cent's worth, Anybody have any thoughts on the interview?

  3. I seem to recall that I posted that Ballard was not going to keep the 26 and 34 pick together. So it was no surprise that it did not happen. Ballard said during the draft that he did not think that most of the value  in the first round , was not worthy of wasting a first round pick over. Ballard is not as hard to predict if you listen to him. To many people get caught up in the media hype on who should go where. I have to give kudo's to Ballard for sticking to his  board, and his scout information on, value for the player in the draft order.  Even though we came back last year after a bad start , we still  are a team that is rebuilding to a degree . That is we are still adding parts  to make us dominate.

  4. I think to many people live an breathe, to much on the media's fashionable picks, and get to caught up on individual players Vs players who fit our system and culture, that we are trying to  incorporate in our system, for their value at the pick. In my opinion,   Ballard is trying to keep the cap space ready for good players that we groom and make the grade from jumping ship , down the road after we groom them. Thus, less turn over for players, that fit our system, for now.

  5. Don't care about the grades no more than last year. until the season progresses this year it is a mute point. Injuries can play a major factor as you well know. We have a really tough schedule this coming year , and every game will be  tougher.  I hope you know that we are no longer flying under the radar., and the league knows we are not a given this year. So we are under the spot light now.  It will be tougher than a lot of people realize to even duplicate last year's success.

I really think we can progress this coming year barring major injuries. I am excided on taken the next step , and  have the Colts as a major player in the NFL for years to come.

I am relaxed. Not sure what made you think I wasn't.

Oh just  past experience with you from last year with your comment on my mother from using a claw hammer on me  and I told you that it was insensitive of you to use that as she was still incarcerated for that. talk about hitting below the belt? Sorry I thought you  as a companionate guy.  And I know you are  Bott. That's why I love  you, Seriously. dude.

  7. I still think people are overlooking n/keel Harry wide receiver upside as an alternative to TY Hilton. He is a beast and if he was paired with TY the would be a force reckoned with I promise you. don't know how the draft will fall out but if by some happenstance  we got him. It would solve our wide out problems for years to come.

  8. I don't like to insult your perspicacity guys , but you might be overthinking everything to a point.  If you use a layman's terms, it's like an analogy  from star trek, It's great to be so analytical, but this is the  voice of being Spock .  Captain Kirks human side, saying you need to go with your gut without overthinking to much. This is the human side of the NFL not everything is going to work out on paper like you think it will. If it did then all we would need is some egghead's view and that would be the criteria of how we draft.

Salary cap. They're up against it this year, and they have a lot of free agents next year.

Your right Superman, That's why Ballard's approach to save some cap to sign already existing players for us is wise. The core who makes our team makes since," If they make the grade", is better than this constant revolving door of too many players you groom to be on your team to jump ship,  after you put a lot time in these guys. I know there will always be turn over, but the less the better for the continuity  of your team.
