On the Colts first drive when Ebron dropped that wide open pass on third down I knew what kind of day it was going to be. The fact that our young defense only gave up 31 points on the road was astonishing.

"Stuff Happens" (Stuff wasn't the word I really meant,  LOL" Can I say the S**t word?

  2. If you base your  integrity on what, "Did the DA have enough evidence to charge him," then  I feel sorry for you. People beat the rap all the time on technicalities. Just OJ Simpson for example. He beat the rap as far as convicted  for murder. He lost the civil suit, But he was exposed for what type of man he was, as his actions down the road spoke volumes to what kind of man he really was.

I thought I had already posted in this thread,  but apparently not.    So, even though it's late,  I'm going to drop my two cents here for whatever they're worth...

    For consideration....

    1.    Chiefs had a bye the week before.

    Advantage:   Kansas City

    2.    Colts played the week before,  and it was on the road.   So, they had to travel back to back weeks.

    Advantage:    Kansas City

    3.    Chiefs had the homefield advantage.   And Arrowhead has been one of the better home field advantage stadiums since it was built in the mid-70's.

    Advantage:    Kansas City.

    4.    Weather was poor.    Colts are an indoor team,  Chiefs an outdoor team.

    Advantage:    Kansas City

    5.    Field Conditions were poor.     Chiefs know their field better than the visiting team.

    Advantage:    Kansas City

At this point,  there are enough advantages for KC to make the lopsided performance seem more obvious and reasonable.   Add to that,  the Colts OL and DL both got whipped pretty good.   It's hard for any offensi've or defensive scheme to look good when you're losing the Line of Scrimmage on most every down.    The Chiefs were the better team that day.    Doesn't mean they will always be.   But they were THAT DAY.

Sometimes stuff like this happens.    I wouldn't read too much into this one game.

I agree with NewColtsFan, I think everyone is over thinking and reading way too much from last year into this. We were coming back from the ashes and just ran out of gas. This was not a surprise , or it should not have been that we lost against a team that had an excellent year, and was elite, rested, at home, use to the weather, It doesn't take rocket science to understand why we under performed. My god man be happy we did as good as we did last year. I was very proud of what we accomplished  last year considering where we were at before the season started, and as of  the first 6 games we played.

what i mean by freestyle is being able to call your own plays similar to Peyton Manning. I'm sure Brady didn't go his who career not calling his own plays. Now micro mange is when a coach makes the QB go strictly by the plays he calls only

I think you mean call his own audibles instead of "freestyling". If he sees the need to change the play.

Yes fringe playoff team.  They needed to win the last game of the year to make the playoffs after not making it the previous three years.   Doesn’t get anymore fringe than that.  I think they will make it this year.

Each game after going 1-5 was a virtual playoff game, son.

  6. I saw that, It's soo sad what happened. Devastating to work his young life toward a goal to play in the NFL and for that to happen, but life has a twisted way sometimes. My prayers and thoughts are to his family, for his full recovery, and hope he can find peace from this somehow, to know that his life is not over, he just has to seek a new direction in his young life.

I don't think many (if any) serious fans would be saying that.  I don't recall many wishing for them to tank.   I think many may have said that if they are eliminated from the playoffs that they would prefer to lose the remaining games for draft position.

There was posts that were already hanging it up for the year and I replied it was to early to give up on the year because it was about getting better as a team with all of the changes and Luck's comeback as a QB. My point was if for some reason we did not win many of the remaining games, And we had a top 3 draft choice. There would have been discussion brought up about drafting  a QB if people thought Luck was not showing improvement last season. We already have people  complaining about his performance in the KC game. I'm not one of them. As he gets better and the team around him improves, then critic his performance. People seem to forget how long he was out, and his long rehab, he had to endure.

  8. Johnnie U from being drafted & cut by the Steelers, & their coach saying  he thought that Unitas was not smart enough to be QB in the NFL. His leadership to winning , back to back championships, in 58 and 59 for the Colts. He put the NFL, as you enjoy it today on the map nationally.  You as a Colts fan should be proud to have this as a legacy. Records are made to be broken, statistically, but to be a pioneer in the game from inception is something no other fan of any other team can ever take away from us. I know there were pro football before this, and I am a fan of history, of what was accomplished even before this event. But Nationally in America, The attraction to the NFL sky rocketed when this event was televised.

  9. Well going as far as we did, after the 1-5 start, we had a few fans in here, bringing up the notion of tanking the season, that early. Thank god for the turn around. If not, and we ended up with a top 3 draft pick, there would be some who would be stumping to draft a QB, saying Luck is washed up. We still had a good year, all things considered, going into last season.

  10. It's the slow changing of the guard, as the new blood starts to trickle in, the media want to embrace them as, the future of the NFL. So when they have some success, naturally they want to sing their praises to the newer generation of fans. Look at NASCAR, drivers stuck around racing a lot longer years ago, but now it's all about investing in young new, and up and coming drivers. Your Gordon's & Earnhardt's, and now Johnson etc... are being weeded out. to make room for the newer generations to identify with.

  11. Durant was out about, before the NBA playoffs started, So not knowing the extent of his injury, other than the team report given, "A calf strain", each time it was brought up in the media, one wonders if they knew it was much more serious than the team let on. Being down 3-1 and seeming in a disarray, they seemed desperate. But being the competitor Durant is maybe he thought he was ready. But for him after being out so long instead of easing back in it, he looked like he tried to do too much too fast. We all know what happened to Luck when he tried to rehab ahead of schedule.

  12. Go Pats, I've haven't had any beef with you on this forum, But honestly, If you think that Irsay is the classless man that you think he is, Why on God's green earth, do you post in here? If god forbid, I moved to Boston, I would still only post in here, Because "I am a Colts Fan" If you are not, I don't see the point.

  13. 5 championships in a short time was what made the Packers the team to beat in the early 60's.

in the NFL, And yes there was Pro football before  it was called the Super Bowl . Unitas and the Colts put the NFL on the map in the late 50's and Bart and the Packers took it to the next level after. The Unitas & Starr battles were epic in the early 60's. That's what cemented my love of the game back then.

  14. I know that voluntary means not required, to attend for your team, But the situation of each team is different. The Browns with Baker Mayfield in his second season, would greatly benefit from Beckham, showing support for his new young QB to get up to speed & rhythm for them in the up coming season, to be ahead of the learning curve. From what I have heard a lot of veterans for the Browns showed up even though it was not mandatory, To me this shows a commitment into making the next season a success. I Think that Beckham is great talent, But his immaturity as  a narcissistic mind set is what is ambiguous. That sets a bad example as not being a team player,  especially to a team that is not already a contender every year.

  15. Well it's not official yet, but it looks like the Panthers are the last team McCoy is going to visit.

So it's Browns, Ravens, or Panthers. My post started saying McCoy will not be a factor for the Colts, I think to clarify what I meant was to say, due to the money he still can demand, Ballard was adamant, about what he was worth to us in, dollars & cents. A player can check all of the boxes that you convent, as what you want in a player, but the logical bottom line after that, is he worth that use of cap space for our team? Ballard seems to not think so.

  16. In college, he seemed to get good yardage after the catch, But in the NFL, I just hope he remembers to catch the ball first before he thinks about yardage after the catch, lol. I think that receiving yards will be the most yardage.

Let's not crown the WR group just yet.

Funchess has only had 1 good season so far out of 4.

Campbell & Cain have never caught a NFL pass yet.

Doyle is a nice player, but coming off of serious hip injury and is mostly a short pattern type of receiver.

It has potential if things go right for the group but as of now there are some questions and growing pains.

I seem to recall that Manning made a lot of unknowns in the receiving core look relevant in his career. Now that our offensive's line & running game is getting better, Maybe luck can spread the wealth. Good quarterbacks can help a lot of average receivers look good, if the system you play in is right.

  18. Maybe, Gruden is trying to relieving the days, back when the Raiders were notoriously known for, as signing  veterans that are on their last journey in the NFL, and trying to make it work. Sort of like Burt Reynolds putting together the squad on "The Longest, Yard". Maybe that movie will be standard showing in their game film's room this season.
