Starting to get a little pumped up. Things should start rolling here real soon. Super Bowl, Combine then time to go.

    Feb 20 - Mar 5:(next Tuesday)

    Is the Franchise Tag period

So we will know Pittman tag situation as early as 1 1/2 - 3 weeks and other potential re-signings as well.

Quickly followed up by free agency.

Been a little quiet lately(to be expected), outside of the traditional throw names against the wall, see what sticks rumor mill(Brown, Diggs, Evans).

Anyway, one name I have seen a few times, in different places, is J'Narius Snead. Could see that one making some sense. Would be a good get there.

That big DT, Sweat, from Texas has me intrigued. Would love to find a way to get him to town. Draft still a little bit away (not too far though :D), a lot still TBD on how the roster will look by that point.

Saw an article that said the Colts were the #4 ranked team, as far as set up for the future. If I remember correctly it had Texans, Commanders and Titans above us. Texans I could see but I think we are above those other 2, they just have a little more cap space than us, so that must weigh on those rankings heavily.

Full of anticipation for the next 2 months.

Watching this GIF makes me feel seasick.  My thanks!!  LOL

Fun fact,  the Colts are the ONLY team that Mahomes has never beaten in the regular season (0-2).  Although he did knock Andrew Luck out of the playoffs in 2018.

I recall it was very cold that day.  Luck looked, and played, like he wanted to be anywhere else.  A dropped 3rd down pass by a TE on the Colts’ 1st possession set the mood.

I honestly don't even care.. she's just watching the game. No different then when Jessica Simpson was "watching" cowboys games.. at least Taylor knows what's going on... Hahah

Thanks!  I forgot about her and Romo.

Who was he trying to run over?    He had no chance making it to the sideline.   He could have slid I guess,  but not much opportunity to do that either

I just watched it a couple of times.  Didn’t see him try to hit or run over any one.  Maybe my eyes are bad

I know this topic has aged a little bit.  But something just hit me.

I was having a conversation about the fan demand for Gus Bradley to play more modern Vic Fangio Cover-6 defense, and found myself having to explain the evolution to the Cover-6:

    • Cover-2:  Both safeties play back, dividing the deep field into two zones.  The corners are responsible for the flats.
    • Cover-3 (Gus's defense):  Single high Free Safety, with both corners playing back, dividing the deep field into three zones.  The outside linebackers are responsible for the flats.
    • Cover-4 (Quarters):  All four DB's play back, dividing the deep field into four zones.
    • Cover-6 (Fangio):  Used against the popular 3-by-1 offensive formations.  Divide the field in half.  On the 3 WR side, play Quarters (CB and Safety back, LB in flat).  On the 1 WR side, play Cover-2 (Safety back, CB in the flat, looking like the WR is single covered.)

And it suddenly hit me.  In order to play Cover-6 you need to have both guys playing Free Safety on both halves of the field.

Gus Bradley doesn't run the Fangio defense, not because he's stubborn, but because he can't.  He's limited by personnel.  Blackmon and Cross both play Strong Safety.  Thomas is our only Free Safety.  He doesn't play it that well, so he barely counts.  We don't play this defense because we can't play this defense.  And he won't play it next year either, unless he gets better personnel at the Free Safety position.

    Am I wrong on this?

I don’t know.  But, you sold me.  :^)

Hard to argue those points. I'm just hopeful that Steichen will have enough pull to explain to Ballard how to build a team fast. He witnessed it in Philly firsthand, particularly on offense. I think one of the ways we find out is how much AR's weapons are addressed. No more of the "I like our WR's" crap from Ballard and go get some playmakers and no more of the "we have a crowded TE room" and go get a real TE...Last 4 teams left in the playoffs have some of the best TE's in the NFL and that's not a coincidence....It's a must. I don't want to hear about your 5th round pick safety from last year and how much we missed him.....Stop that crap and go get a veteran just in case it doesn't work and we don't have to hear how they were young back there...One thing that bothers me is he acts like he has 20 years to build a team instead of we need to win now.

Ballard doesn’t seem to care that many of the fan base, and the owner, are aging out and don’t all have forever to wait for his often offered “delayed gratification.”
