Come on guys... post your versions of a height-weight-speed draft.

I wonder when we're gonna start meeting with potential first round picks? I've seen a lot of other teams have been.
We probably are meeting them, just keeping it on the down low.

With torn Achilles the problem is that you don't really know what you will be getting when he returns. It's one of the worst injuries when it comes to the player returning to his previous physical performance. Much worse than torn ACL from what I've heard. So it's substantial risk taking him even in the second. I'd probably take him in the third but then again I don't know what's the chance he's going to be there.

Conley, Bowser, Foreman, & Griffin are names that I've seen in a lot of Colts mock drafts... so you might be onto something.
Ballard paid a visit to Bowser in person to Houston's campus several days after his pro-day. I think it's safe to say there is real interest there.

Probably easier said than done.
Here's my attempt at it:

"Height, weight, speed"... that's the mantra Ballard seems to be repeating and since we don't have a real sample of him picking players, lets assume he will indeed be prioritizing players with some combination of those attributes. It's not going to be easy to incorporate them all for all picks, but try to do it to the best of your ability. Here's my try with it:
Round 1: Gareon Conley, CB Ohio State - he fits perfectly, above average height and weight for position and elite speed for the position and size. Very good corner with even greater potential
Round 2: Derek River, OLB, Youngstown state - his weight is not great but he fits the other two criteria and if we need him to gain some muscle and strength, he has a nice frame for it. He is a talented pass-rusher with good technique and elite athletic testing.
Round 3: Tyus Bowser, LB, Houston - a bit raw and might be a bit of a projection moving to an off-the-ball role in the NFL but his physical profile and athleticism are insane - 6'3", 250, elite speed and explosion(jumps) tests.
Round 4.1: Dont'a Foreman, RB, Texas - OK, I cheated here. He probably won't be there on day 3, but he fits perfectly the criteria, big back with good speed. He's not my favorite prospect, but he's probably the best of the big backs in this range. Maybe get Brian Hill if Foreman is unavailable.
Round 4.2: George Kittle, TE, Iowa - big, blocking TE with potential in the passing game because of his athleticism(tested almost as good as David Njoku at the combine).
Round 4.3: Deatrich Wise, DE, Arkansas - tall and long DE, with good speed and burst.
Round 5: Shaquill Griffin, CB, UCF - again good height and weight and elite speed(ran in the 4.30s at the combine).
What is your version of "height, weight, speed" draft?

For sure. I really like seeing all of these mocks right now for the Colts because no one has any real idea what to expect from Ballard, so they're all over the place. It's pretty entertaining.
Ballard has been repeating the "Height, weight, speed" mantra on most of his public appearances. If I had to guess I'd be focusing on players that fit 2 or more of those criteria. Of course that's just a guess, but at least I'm trying to use what he seems to believe in and emphasize. I need to do a "height, weight, speed" version of a mock draft.

Yeah, I've been thinking about the possibility of trading for one of Buckner or Armstead after San Francisco is switching to 4-3 defense and one of them might be becoming redundant for them. It's an interesting possibility. I'm not a huge fan of Foreman, Biegel and Woods, but it's an interesting and creative mock draft.

Colts met with Northwest Missouri State kicker Simon Mathiesen:

Colts draft at least one of every single one of those: OLB, ILB, CB, RB, TE

I just saw this as well. It leaves us a bit bare at ILB still, but we cant address everything. I'd be happy with this draft haul.
We get 2 ILBs. Both Reddick and Lee are projected to play off-ball linebackers in the league.
-
I like Reddick. I wouldn't pick him ahead of Foster or especially Hooker(which the guy did) I think you can get better CB in the second, better RB in the third, I haven't watched Harlow so I don't know about him. I like Wise and Lee. So all in all... meh. I'd be more disappointed than excited. We don't get a single EDGE prospect in this draft, which is a shame in this EDGE-rich class.

Where do you put that OBI one Mawifiuaalliaola guy?
Right outside of the top 10.

Pagano is at Boise State's pro-day, Ballard at Houston's campus to meet Tyus Bowser and Brandon Wilson
QuoteIndianapolis Colts general manager was evidently on the Houston campus yesterday and met with linebacker Tyus Bowser as well as cornerback Brandon Wilson.
Boise state notable prospects - ILB Tanner Vallejo, RB Jeremy McNichols.

Here's my DB's ranking:
1. Marshon Lattimore
2. Malik Hooker
3. Jamal Adams
4. (healthy) Sidney Jones
5. Gareon Conley
6. Budda Baker
7. Tre'Davious White
8. Marlon Humphrey
9. Cordrea Tankersley
10. Jabrill Peppers
I'd be ecstatic picking any of the top 3 at 15. Would have been happy with Jones before the injury and will be alright with Conley and Baker. For the rest I don't think the value is there at 15. Maybe trading down?

I just tried a simulated draft with Kyle Crabbs' board on Fanspeak. His board is very weird so... here's what I got:

Here's an alternative look at Peppers, very much worth watching:

Colts showing serious interest in Jackson State OLB/DE Javancy Jones. After meeting with him at his pro-day, they are now having a private workout and interview with him in Indy tomorrow:

The problem with picks like Dorsett was not the strategy(pick BPA). The problem was that our talent evaluation was bad ... If Dorsett turned into a pro-bowler and all-pro very few would be complaining about the Colts picking him. People are complaining because he's been very underwhelming and not worth the pick he was picked with.

For what it's worth, this drastic of a fall having in mind favorable conditions, can signify that he probably didn't work towards his pro-day. Even if we take his combine numbers, this cannot be overlooked. I bet teams are wondering what he was doing in the month between the combine and his pro-day.
